Hits hard until it dies
Avoid this driver. I loaded it into a custom built box made specifically for it, all measurements were calculated out perfectly. It was hooked up to a Rockford-Fosgate Prime 1200 amplifier getting 800 watts RMS at 2 ohms, 400 below the rated power.
I have been running it for a week now until it all of a sudden stopped. The impedance is still there with a multimeter, but if the power knob to the amp is turned up whatsoever, the amp goes into protection mode and you can hear what sounds like crunching coming from the voice coil.
The speaker was properly tuned and played at reasonable levels that it should have been more than capable of reaching according to Planet Audio
I bought this sub on a whim for a speaker cabinet project but ended up putting it in my vehicle, but now I regret not getting something that was worth my time to start with. I will be going with either NVX or a more reputable brand next. I recommend starting with something good but if you want to gamble on cheap gear, avoid this unit
