Planet Audio AC1800.5

5 channels of raw power!!!!!!

I have used planet audio over the years in stereo installs and have always like the sound that the amps put out so when I bought this amp I was expecting it to live up to the planet audio name and it did. For the price point you cant beat this amp

Outstanding

This amp is a great buy. Tremendous power at a reasonable price. The unit is well constructed and planned out with its in and out connections. Nice remote bass control. I received fast and excellent service from Sonic.

Fantastic sound for the cost

A buddy of mine found this and I was skeptical about the cost/performance of this amp but I am very surprised by this amp. After getting everything hooked up in my S10 including 6 speakers (2 bridged) and a Kicker 10 in a sealed box the sound quality is impressive, and need I say quite loud. Overall I am very happy with this amp and I would reccomend it to anyone looking to enhance their system.

I paired this with a Pioneer DEH-P8400BH and 6 pioneer speakers all ordered from Sonic.

The one downside is the bass control knob which I dont think does anything but I could be doing it wrong, who knows.

Great Value - Need to keep it cool

Picked this up for a bit more than what I see it going for now and it was still a smoking deal back then.

Wanted a 5-CH amp with enough power to push tunes through the small cockpit of a Z3 with the top down.

Mounted it to the backside of a SW box I attached to the back firewall (speakers dumping out low behind the seats).

Ran EnvyFlex 0 AWG power and ground with 10 AWG speaker wire mainly because I heard it got hot and there really is not a lot of air flow in a closed trunk - right...

Sound was fantastic, more than enough for what I needed pushing the 4-ohm speaker system perfectly.

But she got hot if I ran the sound loud for more than an hour (typical drive is 6 hours to my house) so I had to come up with something else - beside keeping the volume down.

Mounted the amp on spacers giving me about 1-inch of air space on the bottom.

Then picked up a 16-inch wide squirrel cage 12V cooling fan from a PC parts shop - and I have never had a heating problem since.

Mounted the SW volume knob on the console with the screws provided ( note to other reviewer: you have to engage the remote volume control - and it only control the SW so you have to have the SW on right ? )

Amp is a bit big to fit under a seat anyway, but beware of the limited air movement under there or placing it next to where the kid's car seat is located.

Nothing pisses momma off more than burning the kid after driving for hours with Audioslave making the amp sizzle when getting drooled on... (jokes folks...)

But really this baby is great - just needs room to breath so for that reason I gave her 3/5 stars for "ease of use".

UPDATE: After three years I rode in "my daughter's car" this weekend and the amp is still pushing put some seriously pure sound - and my daughter probably listens just a bit louder than I do (may have been all those years drooling on hot amps...)

peace.

Pushing 8 Rockford Fosgate 6x9's, 2way

Using amp as a temporary amp for highs, running 8 POWER series 6x9's, 2-way, the speaker with the suspended tweeter.
Hooked up 2 speakers per channel (4ohms each), parallel 2ohm load. FREAKEN loud let me say, however, I have an amp in the trunk and will shut off on a hot day, I would install cooling fans but like I said its only temporary till I receive my other amps.
Note: keep in mind it's pushing 8 Rockford 6x9's and its in the 100"s here in Boiling Bakersfield .CA

Great amp

Got this amp for some bass from the stock stereo in my truck, with the option to upgrade my head unit and speakers down the road. I have it hooked up to a 12 inch Alpine and it works great. Hits very hard. Very good amp for the money. Sonic is the best.

Great Sound and Plenty of Power

I am pretty new at the whole car audio install thing, but was able to get up and running with no issues. Once I had it dialed in, I pushed a total of 8 speakers using 2 ohm connections, and 2 ohm connections for the subwoofer. It sounds amazing for my 2016 Mustang. For the price, it cant be beat. I am sure others will say its low quality, and it may be relative to high end amps, but for my money, it did just what it was supposed to do, and did it well. It is HUGE by the way.

Lots of sound for the price

I have this hooked up to 4 nvx n series 6x8's and 2 10" shallow subs in my 2001 f150 ext cab. This amp controls all of it very well! It does get pretty toasty when running it super hard though. I am going to be adding a fan of two soon. There are plenty of adjustments and the amp comes with lots of good hardware. The only lacking area is the owners manual, there is very little information in the owners manual and I think it's only 20 pages, which probably wouldn't be so bad, but they cover every anarchy series amp in it and 4 pages for notes. But if you have been around car audio for a while you'll figure it out. Otherwise, it's a good sounding amp, at least for what you pay for anyways. It'll never be a mcintosh amp, but it's not bad.
