JUST BUY IT!!!!

So, I must have looked at this thing 100 times in a month before going ahead and ordering it. I have a custom fiberglass enclosure that's a little more than 1 cubic ft and I'm using the Polk PA1100.5 5-channel amp powering my whole system. My original sub was just a plain Jane 4 ohm single VC Kicker and it sounded pretty good. I was really just shopping for a dual voice coil replacement so that I could run my amp down to 2 ohms. I went back an forth and eventually said to heck with it and spent the extra money for this sub mostly based on the reviews I read on Sonic and elsewhere. IT'S ALL TRUE! This thing is amazing! It does have a much higher SPL than the Kicker I replaced, but really stands out is the sound quality. As with the other reviews on here, the kick drums sound like kick drums (imagine that). If you're serious about audio and want your sub to reproduce music and not just a bass sound, but this sub. Follow the directions, however. They state that a break in period of 50 hours is required before it will hit it's stride and it is true. The surround on this thing was so stiff that you could hardly even move the cone with your hand. I noticed an improvement in SQ just after the first hour. Given the large volume displacement of the RIDICULOUSLY sized basket on this thing I figure that it's sitting in about .8 cubic ft of airspace which is about .16 more than recommended, but it sounds AWESOME! The quickness of response with this thing really stand out and it handles overlapping freqs with ease!

PROS - Fit/finish, SQ, value, looks, quality (it's worth way more than this price tag!). This may be the most musical sub I have ever heard, period!

CONS - it is heavy! Make sure you have a sturdy enclosure and bolt it to the car for the best result. If you're a teen aged kid with a box sliding around in your trunk, buy the cheap Kicker or equivalent. This sub deserves a well balanced system in support of it. Also, I wouldn't mount it to your baffle with Dry Wall screws, they won;t stand a chance. Get yourself some t-nuts so that you can really tighten it down snug!

I totally recommend this sub to anyone. It is well worth twice this price! Don't be cheap, just buy it, but don;t disrespect it by only playing rap or hip-hop through it. This thing really deserves to be listened to.

Big boom!

I originally purchased these speakers to be an upgrade from my MB Quart subs mostly for their power handeling. I have always been a fan of Polk speakers so I figured they would be comparable in sound. Boy was I wrong! The accurate reproduction of lower frequencies from this monster totally dominated the poor MB Quarts I was running. Don't get me wrong, the Quarts still sound great, but they can't hold a candle to these!

The only drawback to this speaker is the large basket design. It was too large for my enclosure so I had to mount the sub inverted. While this takes up more room, I get to show off the nice chrome basket! If you are thinking of getting a serious speaker, then look no further!

Polk Audio SR104 DVC

I think this is a Very Amazing that is deep and clear and so do my friends that have 1) a 12" Type R and 2) a 15" kicker. I put 800 watts rms to it and wish I had 1000-1200 rms going to it. It doesn't skip any notes and hits a few more lower ones. I have it in a custom ported box set to spec. If you do get one of these it doesn't rock the block but the car next to you can definitely hear it.

Excellent Sub!

The Polk 10" SR sub is outstanding, well worth the money.
Its one of the cleanest tightest subs I have ever heard. not great where limited space is a concern but I have it in a 1 cu. foot sealed box with a 500W Kenwood amp an its amazing.

by far the Best component of my car audio!!

This subwoofer performs far beyond any 10'' i have heard. In a sealed box it creates such distinct tones, kick drums sound like kick drums and thumping deep bass is not loose and wallowy but tight and direct. i love this sub! To all the reviewers claiming it distorts at high volume u might want to use a better amp cause its not the sub ;)

Polk Audio SR104-DVC

I have two of these Polk Audio SR104-DVC , i have a Precision Power DCX 500.2 amp pushing both of these and they do the job and then some :) Any one who planes to run Polk all the way around these SR104-DVC are closers end of story, my head unit is a Alpine 9887 with lots of options for tuning, I have another Precision Power Amp DCX 300.4 pushing the component Polk Audio db5251, along with Polk Audio 6x9's db691. I have one 2 Farad cap for the 4 channel that keep the power stable one the four speakers.
I plan to upgrade all speakers to SR from Polk but at the costs it hard to get a handle. I love this site www.sonicelectronix.com I wish I new about it sooner I cane across it one day looking for these bad boys SR104-DVC.
The SR104-DVC are not cheap but worth every penny.
Ps you do have to brake these in a little bit, if you dont you will smell the sub getting hot.

Very loud, quick bass response

I would recommend these subs to anyone looking for a high end sub, but remember they require alot of power to get the best performance. You won't believe how heavy they are until you pick 1 up, huge magnet, make sure you get the dual voice coil, there is a big difference in performance.

Awesome sound quality in a small package!

I purchased this sub from Sonic Electronix approximately six months ago and since have loved every minute of it. I have it matched to a 500.1 Carbon Series Polk amplifier and it hits hard but clear.

This is currently installed in a small, .90cu.ft. enclosure, which is near what this speaker is designed for.

Its design is durable and forgiving, and its aesthetics are subtle for any interior giving your setup an OEM look.

The King of Subs

Wow, this is one good-looking, clean-sounding sub! I hear detail with this sub that escaped my Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1. By far the best sub I've ever owned, this has the spectacular quality and plenty of power. One look at the back of this sub and you'll know they paid attention to every detail and took pride in their workmanship. This is my first Polk sub, and I am now a convert. Great value -- highly recommended!
(Also check Sonic Electronix Ebay listings!)
