Polk db461P

I put them in a 75 stingray and when I took the old ones out, I was surprised to see the old ones were Polk. These db461p's are amazing. I have an Alpine and JL subwoofer. The clarity of the highs are like none I have had before. I brought them up to max with the allman bros. And the neighbors down the street thought I was having a party. No distortion. They couldn't believe it was my car. Only drawback but minor is hardly any bass but my sub made up for that.

great speakers

These speakers are great ! installed them in dash of 02 s10 and put the db651s in the front doors all powered by the jensen 760 amp. great sound very loud and decent bass response. no bass blockers needed just used filter built into amp and they jam.a 8 or 10 inch sub would make this system even better , but maybe later. on dash speakers you have to knock off a little nipple where the speaker goes so it will sit flat and on the grill you have to hack of the long tabs where the screws go through and thats it. on door speakers they fit perfect, with no adapter necessary cause most 6 1/2 speakers are over sized anyways.

purchased these polks for my front doors and they sound clear and loud. I am amping them with a ppi amp and I am pleased with the sound. I highly recommend these speakers.

Good

Good looking speakers that were easy to install in the dash. They sound nice although bass blockers should be added.

Excellent performance and value

I installed these to replace factory front speakers in '95 Jeep Wrangler. Access to installation location was incredibly difficult (Jeep issue) but once there the speakers went in fine. Even with significant highway and wind noise (especially with top off), the sound of these speakers comes through clean and crisp. Also installed compact subwoofer to relieve these speakers of lower range duty.

Great speaker

Good deal for some high quality 4x6 speakers

Pros:

- They sound nice for the price. I have them crossed over at 150hz, so not a ton of bass gets to them. 150hz below is where my 8" sub takes over.

- They look great.

- They are the exact same size as an actual 4x6 speaker, so no air leaks occur.

Cons:

- Bass could be more prominent, especially considering the separate woofer and tweeter. Oh well, you get what you pay for, I guess.

- For all you SQ audiophiles out there, these are not the speakers for you. The crossover components are not the best, and the woofer and the tweeter are not spaced properly.

Overall, these speakers work just fine for me.

Sound Great

I put these in the dash of my buddy's truck, along with matching 6 1/2s in the doors. I put 100 Hz bass blockers on the dash speakers. He was jamming out with a big grin on his face while I was putting my tools away. As always, Sonic Electronix had the best prices on everything along with super fast shipping.

Nice speakers

So far I am pleased with these speakers. I installed them in the rear doors of my 04 Silverado. I am waiting to get my Rockford 200p to power them. I will use the high pass on the cross over. cant wait to crank em up

Great accent speakers!!!!

As long as these are not your main speakers you will be fine. If they are your main speakers, I would suggest that you amp them as most stock head units don't have the power to really drive them. I have an old pioneer head unit powering them in the front of my wrangler. The rear speakers have a 100 watt power amp driving some old JBL gt 6x9's. I bought the polks to give me better highs and more clarity for the midrange ---- and they really complement the 6x9's in the back!!! My system sounds A LOT better now!!!!

Follow-up

I removed the original equipment NP 3.3uF caps and replaced them with audio grade 3.3uF caps from an online distributor. The sound is now noticeably warmer and more real. Pity that Polk is cutting corners on essential components. Since I paid the same price for this item as for the much superior MB Quart component system, I have to rate the value very low. Naturally, Ease of Use goes low because I had to modify the unit (and thus void the warranty) to get them to sound decent.

Decent speakers

These are good speakers for the price.
If you can´t afford expensive ones, try these for a decent sound system.

Excellent Speakers!

I am running these speakers powered by a Kenwood KAC-8406 70W RMS amp crossed over at 150Hz. I also have Polk DB651 in the doors, a Polk DB840 sub and Polk DB1001 Tweeters all powered by max RMS. The sound quality is incredible. Set up properly, the DB461P's sound awsome.

Great speakers for the price

i purchased these Polk audio speakers for my 1995 s10. I upgraded from the disgusting stock paper speakers and let me tell you they sound amazing! I have always been a fan of Polk and they never let me down. These speakers will perform great just hooked up to the receiver but even better hooked up to an amp. A++

If you are looking for a 4x6, this is the one. Great sound loud and clear. They have good bass too for a 4x6. Not gonna beat the block down or anything. Great speakers.

Love them!!!

I have 4 of these in my 94 Extended cab GMC Sierra, they're powered by an old Virtual Reality Soundlabs VR3 400w 4 channel giving each one 50 RMS if the amp's specs are true. They are loud and CRYSTAL clear. My dad thought the Infinity speakers in his Camaro sounded better until I got him in my truck one day. I played one song and all he said was "I got to give it to you son, it sounds better than mine." I was also running an old Polk MOMO MM100 10" sub on 400RMS with these. I need a better amp on these because my amp's crossover doesn't really work so I use the one on my head unit which only has preset HPF numbers (OFF, 80Hz, 135Hz, and 225Hz) 135 blocks too much bass and 80 lets too much in. So a good amp would bring these to their full potential. They make pretty good mid bass but they can't play it with the setup I have now. The mids are crisp and the highs ring beautifully. I recommend these to anybody looking a 4x6 speaker. They're marine certified which is great for me because I hunt and they get wet a lot when i'm getting in and out of the truck on rainy days. One thing I must warn about though, you may have to modify your speaker hole to make them fit perfect. All in all great speakers! they're very loud on an amp and you can hear all the little things in your music that you normally wouldn't hear. Even the old Alpine lovers are amazed by the clarity these things have!

Very treble heavy

These were purchased as a replacement for the factory rear door speakers in a '03 Silverado. They're very heavy on the treble side and with a noticeable sizzle. The factory radio treble settings dials some of it back and could probably be tamed more with an aftermarket radio with EQ.

Good speakers for the money

I purchased the polk audio db461p set for my 93 chevey S10 man what a great sounding speaker fit right in the dash no problems mounting. Now as for speaker sound they are a mid and high speaker so don't expect much of a deep base sound. Other then that can't go wrong crisp sound.

I love how these Polks sound. And mind you these are currently the only speakers I have in my car at the moment. I'll have to remove them due to them not being the correct size ONLY. Other than that I love them!!!!

I absolutely love these speakers. They have incredible sound and clarity from such a compact design. And at such a great price. I will be ordering the 6.5 speakers to replace the stock speakers in the back. The plate has multiple mounting configurations so it's almost guaranteed to fit your application without modification.
