Excellent 5x7 by Polk

I have driven Ford vehicles for many years and I always replace their crappy stock speakers within a week or so of buying a vehicle. At first I tried to install my older Punch 6x8s (P1683) that I had pulled out of my Expedition prior to trading, in the doors of the F-150, but they were just a bit too large and I didn't want to carve up the doors of my beautiful new truck. I have always used Rockford Fosgate or Kicker for car audio but have been using Polk Audio for my home theater, so I decided that since my home theater Polk speakers sounded so great that I would try some in my F-150. I just put these in over the weekend and right out of the box they sounded BETTER than any Fosgate or Kicker 5X7 I have ever heard, excellent sound. I am running them off of a Fosgate Punch 400.4 which is rated at 50 watts rms x 4 (actually puts out about 70x4) and the 5x7 sound amazing. Nice tight midbass and very clear highs. I can now say that I have converted from Fosgate to Polk on door speakers, still stickin with Fosgate for my subs and amps, though I am curious to hear some Polk car audio subs.

Great speakers for the price. Especially if you run them through an amp. Just running them through your head unit though, they still have excellent sound and range. I would highly recommend these speakers!

Very Good Value

Installed in girlfriend's 2009 Ford Focus. HUGE improvement over stock speakers! I was very impressed by the sound quality and range for a coax at this price point. Can't go wrong with Polk. Do yourself a favor and by the Metra speaker wire adapters...very convenient and saves a lot of time.

This is my first experience with polk audio, and I have no regrets on this product, great quality sound (like infinity), you don´t need much power to get them high.

I am going buy two pairs for a ford supercrew as the adveserting said can be fitted on 5x7 and 6x8.

Excellent Polk Car Speakers

I installed 2 sets of db571 speakers in my 2004 Mercury Mountaineer 6 mos ago. My concern was that I would not have sufficient bass response w/o a sub, however, these speakers produce ample bass and great sound (after I set the sound dynamics on the new Eclipse H/U which I also purchased from Sonic). Overall, very satisfied.

I bought 4 pairs of these speakers for two Ford Taurus cars with factory Stereo radios/Cd Player.... The sound is the best I have heard in years.... I got them on sale from Sonic Electronix.... The Factory speakers were muddy sounding... Changed them out with these Polks and the factory head sounds like a more powerful system which is clean and clear sounding... Bass is there and good... Love Em and will upgrade my Ford Pickup with them too...Very Happy

I have 5 pairs and they sound great. I have them all amplified and they get real loud and clear. I'll never have anything but Polk speakers in my truck.

Amazing!

I replaced the four factory speakers in my 2011 Ford F-150 with these db571 speakers a few weeks ago. I also installed an amp and sub which are only powered when the engine is on. I noticed that even without the sub and amp, the sound quality is much much nicer than what I had with the factory speakers. Would recommend these to anyone.

I have recently Bought two of the Polk Audio DB572 DB+ 5x7 (DB 572 ) and they sound awesome and will be buying two more for the rear. I would definitely recommend these for the loud and clear sound ! the all weather protection is a plus. make sure you buy the speaker wire Harness Adapter

Great value!

Easily the best bang for your buck. I put 4 of these into my 09 F150 and have enjoyed them ever since. Crystal clear highs and acceptable lows. The bass won't shatter windows but it's tight and crisp which is all I wanted. If you're looking to wake up the neighborhood with your bass get a sub.

Great Speaker Replacements

I recommend these speakers...especially if you are having difficulty in affording the top of the line anything...I needed moderate speakers for my 06 F350 crew cab, replacing the stock 6x8s...I have an older amp waiting for a clean install later at 65rmx4 at 4ohms...but for now, the stock head unit (with steering wheel controls and short arms) is pumping 16watts rms x4 and they sound cleaner, warmer, higher, and lower than stock 4ohms at 25 watt rating...I couldn't believe the difference in mid bass and bass...I really think they are reaching their rated 52Hz in my sealed doors...I enjoy techno/electronica/ and some classic rock (zepp/ozzy/halen/etc..) they do great here too because the midbass is warm and has some pressure...I may not need to add the 6.5 midbass drivers I have from previous install...the highs sound nice, but too bright at times...can't wait to add some clean power and cross them over on the amp high pass at 50 and then on up as needed...I've had em'in my truck (4 new ones) for 1 business day and gave em' country/rock/trance/heavy metal/and even an audio book today...can't wait for tomorrow...these will do for a long time until I wait for some separates but need to fab some fiberglass door panels (infinity kappa)..hope this helped....features was 4 for non swivel tweets in center...overall was 4 because of bright highs at times...

I put these in an '02 Tacoma prerunner 4 door. All of the plastic door mounts needed to be modified. I added 4 alpine tweeters in parallel to the Polk 5x7's for a 2 ohm load. 100w per channel amp and an 8 inch under seat subwoofer. The subwoofer makes it all come together!

bought for my 2013 mustag gt ..fit with no problem ..this speaker has very good highs and lows .. sounds as good as a lot of speakers that cost 2x as much .. my mustang has base system and these sound better than my friends with the premium now .. I added mtx in the trunk for the low bass that you can't get from any 6x8

Good Purchase

Installed these in my son's Ford Ranger. He said they sound way better than the original speakers, but I replaced the head unit as well.

Good speaker for the money

Installed these in replace of stock mids on a 2012 Ford Mustang. Good speakers but because they handle more watts than the stock speakers the factory cross over made the mids too high and offered less bass. Not the fault of the speakers though.

Great Speakers for the Price

These speakers sound great. They look nice, too. The bass is quite good yet they are still very clear. They seem very well made and they should last quite a while. I recommend these speakers to anyone on a budget but still want great sound.

Good sounding speaker. still tweaking amp but overall they sound good. For the price they are nice. Don't expect them to blow your mind or anything, even amped they are good at best. They do however stay very clear at high volumes.

Great sound at a great price

The polk dbs were a great step up over the kicker dc 5x7s I had in my expedition. I am glad to see polk stepped it up and finally started to make a better all around product. Kudos to anyone that buys these. I know you'll love then.

Needs to be amped

I put these in my wife's Mazda 5 being powered by a Pioneer GM-D9500F. They sounded very good and provided enough bass I decided not to sacrifice the little cargo space I had for subs.

Currently they are installed in my Ford Freestyle with no amp. They sound better than the factory speakers but are nothing compared to how they were amped. Bass is non-existent at best but the highs and mids are good. Because they are marine certified they are a little thicker and heavier. This slows down response so some songs sound a little muddled. As long as they are amped it's not noticeable.

Bottom line is I loved these speakers they provided all the sound I wanted and were a great price. Unfortunately for my tastes I have to factor in an amp to go with them.

Very good entry level speakers

I would recommend these speakers who are trying to inexpensively replace their stock speakers. The speakers can play very loudly and definitely produce bass with a decent head unit. The speakers come with great mounting accessories and protection. Installing them yourself to save cost is as easy as buying a connection adapter and taking off your door panels.

If you are looking for high quality speakers or to really pump up a car, you will want to spend more money. But for anybody looking for good sound while spending little: buy these.

These were a great impovement over my factory speakers when combined with a new Alpine head unit....very happy with the sound and fit of the Polks

there are tons of name brand speakers out there and Polk is one brand not many have heard about. i got two pairs of these speakers in my F150 and they sound awesome. not only do they sound great but they are pretty good looking as well. this is a great buy and you wont be disappointed.

These speakers are awesome

I installed these in the front doors of my 2008 Ford F-150. Even using the factory CD player, these speakers jam. Clear, but not tinny highs, and really solid lows from a 6 X 8" speaker. I use these in conjunction with a 10" Dub Sub, and my SLAYER will wake the dead. They are equally impressive for Segovia or Yo Yo Ma.

Awesome Speakers!!!

I have a 2006 Ford F350 with a factory head unit and no amp. I am by no means an audio expert but here's my opinion: Immediate difference from stock speakers. I can run these speakers at full volume with no distortion. Plenty of bass, but also controlled and tight. The sound quality doesn't change at any volume. I recommend these speakers for anyone with a 5x7 speaker. The only reason i rated durability a 3 is because I just got these and don't have any reference on durability, but they feel and look well built.

Great Buy for Ford Ranger

I was surprised at the sound of these speakers. I run them straight from my 25 watt Pioneer stereo unit wich might only be 12.5 watts at 4 ohms, anyway in the back and 2 custom 12 in. subs I created from Sonic Electronix sales that are run with an amp that puts out 200 watts at 4 ohms. x 2 channels and they balance out perfectly. I also have 2 5x7 Rockford Fosgates in the front door I got at Sonic Electronix

great budget replacement speaker

I've owned 3 pairs of these speakers and for the money, there is no better pair of 5x7's as a direct factory replacement. These sound better than any factory speaker, period. They sound way better amped rather than just being powered by the head unit. Not heavy bass, but properly set up, they sound very tight. If your on a budget and dont want to spend more than $150 for 2 pairs (Like my 2002 Focus, 2 pair db571's and an eclipse 40x4 amp, kenwood head unit) of speakers, these are for you. The entire Polk line is high quality and sound just as good as speakers that are 3x as much $$

I own a F150 and purchased these for all four doors. I had the benefit of using them with the stock HU and then using them with an aftermarket HU.
differences:
stock HU -
PROs: tad bit more crisp, added deep bass notes, that i never knew doors speakers could produce. MAX'd volume and these guys didn't crack, distort, or fade.
CONs: there is not enough power(expected, using OEM HU) although sound SQ was improved lack of volume sucked!
Aftermarket HU -
PROs: louder, brings out the full sound of the speaker.
CONs: slight brassy sound, had to adjust the HU's tone and filters, and a slight tweak on the iPOD's EQ and it was remedied, but again they need more power. eventually I will add an amp to these. Turnign these up past 3/4 they start to distort(HU defect not speaker).

final note,
aside from the very slightest brassy sound, these speakers are great for the price!!!
all in all very pleased, price and value!

also these are "MARINE" speakers?? so I opted not to use baffles? pro or con i don't know? So far so good. I did add dynamat to the inner skin of the door. moutning i had to bend a few tabs to have correct fitment in the rear doors.

Great sounding speakers!

I installed these in my 2002 Ford Ranger Edge Regular Cab with just my factory radio and no amp powering them and they sound awesome! The highs are crisp when you crank it up and their is just enough bass to even it out. Very high quality speakers!
