Polk Audio All The Way!

If you are looking for the biggest, clearest, HiFi bang for your buck, you have to go for Polk Audio. I have db5251's (also available from SonicElectronics.com) in my front doors, the db691's in the rear deck, and a Polk db1222 subwoofer enclosure in the truck. I'm pushing 1600 watts RMS (100 watts into each db691) and the sound is amazing! Perfectly clear, excellent reproduction and imaging, outstanding HD HiFi that only Polk can produce for such a low price$.

These speakers are the best for the money in my opinion, i would deffentaly recommend these to anyone. I have had these for six months in my daily driver and i push them hard everyday and have not had any problems.

durable marine speakers

The polk db691's I have put to the test well my son did I had just got back from my first trip from rebuilding my bass boat and my 2 year old son was helping be clean the boat off well he kept putting the hose directly on the speakers and drowning them with water I was worried they might not work after they dry out but they held up great and sound like new still very happy with them and they sound very clear great quality speakers

Superior Sound Quality

I have finished installing a complete set of Polk speakers in my Town & Country van. (2) db691's in the back, (2) db691's in the doors, and (2) db521's in the dash. The sound is like a "Concert Hall" with the rich bass from the 691's, and the clarity and highs from the 521's. This is still coming from the standard "Head / Stereo" unit from the Town & Country. I have had several vehicles with "Premium" sound systems - but have not heard this kind of clear deep sound from any of them.
These speakers are the "BEST" value for the price.

Good Speaker for the money

I thought these where very nice speakers for the price. Play very loud, loud enough were the tweeters start to hurt your ears. Occasionally they can make a little noticeable mirror shake and its only off of head unit power. Even while pounding on them hard haven't heard much bottoming out. Solid design, easy hook up and look pretty cool to.

Superb and Well Balanced

The Polks are well balanced with good bass, great mids, and almost to much treble. The sound clarity sometimes makes me jump because the music sounds so real... I think what's that outside and it's actually the speaker producing quality sound. Speaker does need an amp if bass and VoLuMe is desired, otherwise these things almost sound like subs with superb SQ. Still the treble is a little to much when turned up, but can be tuned down. I strongly suggest this speaker to anyone looking for an awesome full range speaker. The only 6x9s that are better are competition series which cost much more. Excellent value!!

Polk db 5.25" component speakers

These speakers have really clear sound quality and some pretty decent bass for component speakers. The only problem i had with them was the durability, the soldering that wired the diode to the positive connector was a little weak and broke on two of four of these speakers. But i should also mention that i was pretty rough on these when i first got them. But all four of them are holding up and kickin great after 6 months so far. And after these speakers i've sworn by polk audio ever since in the rest of my car audio purchases

Crisp

These speakers were recommended by the guys at Sonic. NICE JOB!! these are exactly what my system was looking for. If you need a great set of speakers that produce crisp highs and solid mids then these are the speakers you want. Pair them with a good amp and sub, you got a winner. As of right now the 691's are the base and bass of my system. I have an MTX 704x giving them 70 watts of continuous power which to me is plenty. I've barely gone over halfway on the gain and they are more than loud enough. I'm getting a sub in a week which well help develop the low end because as of now I use a hpf on them so they don't bottom out. They're plenty enough though to keep the music playing loud especially if what you listen to is mostly rock, i can finish a song with them and have my ears ringing. They don't handle the deep end notes of rap music amazingly but what can you expect from a pair of speakers. Overall i've been very impressed with them.

I Love the Polks

I installed a pair in the rear deck of my Mustang and the sound is awesome - plenty of highs and much more bass than I ever thought possible from just a pair of 6x9s. I have them hooked up to a Profile amp and they shake the whole car.

The guy that says he gets no bass from these in his blazer must have them hooked up out of phase (pos and neg backwards) because the bass from these is incredible - I've decided not to bother with a sub now that I got these.

I have only had a short while so can't speak as to the long term durability yet so I rate that part only 3 for "unsure".

I installed the db691 in my motorcycle saddlebags an i'm pushing them with a hawg-wired 1502 amp with 75 watts rms each side. The speakers bump pretty good and i'm very satified

Fantastic Speakers!

I bought these speakers to replace the factory front speakers in my 2003 Ram 1500. They sound great and are a huge improvement over the factory setup. (Note to Ram owners: these speakers are too deep to mount as is and will hit the window when it is rolled down, to fix this I used the grill spacer that comes with the speaker and put it on the back before screwing them in). I originally ran them off of head unit power but recently bought an amp (R400-4D) and it made a world of difference. The speakers sounded good off of head unit power alone but the addition of an amp really livened them up and increased bass response. Honestly my only complaint about these speakers is that they're a little too sharp on extremely high pitched sounds (think higher pitched cymbals, and the hissing "s" sound made when singing into a mic) and the speaker wire connections seem a little flimsy. Otherwise these speakers sound great and I highly recommend them.

Good sound at affordable price

Put these in the rear of my 82 GMC restored pickup and along with the 5.25 polk component front speakers and an 800 watt pioneer amp I have a good clear sound without breaking the bank. Am considering a 10" subwoofer later when wife gets over the total cost of the restoration.

Solid speakers!

Good strong sound for not running an amp to them.. I wired them myself in about 20 mins with no problems at all. Great Price!! High quality bass, mid and tweeter for cheap! Not a necessity to run with an amp just my jvc head unit.

Disappointing

After reading all the reviews and comparing these speakers to many others, I decided to buy. Hearing all the hype made me quite excited. I bought two pair (each door of my compass holds a 6x9). Eagerly awaiting the arrival of my speakers, I was happy thinking that I had found the perfect speaker. When I got my speakers, I couldn't be any more happy. Upon opening the box I couldn't help but notice how good they looked. They also appeared to be built really well, and the magnets where quite large.
After installing these, and hooking them up to my Polk PA660 amp (75rmsx4) I was even more happy. Talk about an upgrade over stock. After a week of break in, i decided to turn them up. The mids were good, and the highs sounded good. But the bass was lacking. Seemed to distort quite easy at all levels. No problem tho. That's what my subs are for. So I tuned my HPF to 60 hz. Still sounded like crap (so much for playing as low as 35hz) Then finally with it set to 80hz it sounded good. Minus no bass. At least the distortion was gone. By tuning out the bass it allowed the speaker to play the rest of the frequency's louder and cleaner.
All good right? Not really. They still seemed a little lacking and always left me wanting more. Eventually I kept wanting to turn them up more and more, yet still left unsatisfied. The vocals and highs, though clear and loud never seemed get the job done.
After a month of this things got worse. Down goes my first speaker. A few days later the second. With clean power and no distortion they shouldn't have blown on only 75rms (since rated at 100rms) I quickly contacted polk and got a new set. A month later and same problem Blown two more. Talk about upsetting.
So I tried to get another replacement. Decided on some Pioneers. Only 80rms, so less power, supposedly not as good of a brand as poineer, (told by friends and shops around the area) and a lot cheaper. I was just gonna use these a a cheap replacement until i could save up some substantial money and do more research and find a set off great speakers.
Well to my surprise, these pioneers were amazing. The highs were mind blowing and didn't seem lacking,the mids were great and finally i got some good bass. I know nothing beats a sub. But some times you don't always want to have the subs on. I was finally able to turn my amp back to full pass and have a good all around speaker. No more compromises and upsets like I had with the polks.
All in all these Polks are an OK speaker. But there are definitely better speakers out there that are cheaper, sound a lot cleaner, and have a better bass response. And to me Pioneer seems to be One of the better choices.

Best deal out there

I make a lot of ice chest radios. I have tried almost every marine speaker out there. These by far have the most bass and sound the best. I have to add extra latches to the lids to keep them from rattling.

I am very pleased with the speakers. However I should have done a little more research. I tought they woul provide more bass. I will be looking into adding a small amp and a sub woofer. Any suggessions ? I installed the speakers in a 95 850 Volvo

Excellent Speakers. They replaced the really old and very cheap factory units that were in my 1999 Mercury Villager Van. Don't laugh!! It is really a great small Mini Van. The sound and quality of there speakers are Excellent. I have owned a pair of them in a prior vehicle
and were very happy with the sound. You can really crank them up with NO distortion or that muddle sound in very low bass. Mid tone is very good the tweeters are Good not great. I do prefer SEPARATE Tweeters for that clear as a bell sound that gives you that dimension of space in the car.

This is exactly why I buy Polk Audio.

Sounds amazing! No distortion so far. The only issue I had was that it didn't fit in my car's rear deck but I bent and cut everything in its way, and it was definitely worth it.

Sound Good, No Problems

The sound quality is very good and I haven't had any problems. I still need to add a subwoofer. The 6x9s don't quite deliver enough bass.

Good Speakers

I am running these speakers in my Harley Davidson Saddlebags, they sound great. of course they are powered with an amp, sound is clear and clean. I am happy with my purchase and I would defenitely recommend.

These are great speakers I have them powered by an old Sony XM 2200 GTX (can't believe it still works). I have them mounted in the back of my 87 jimmy and they sound really good and as far as marine use they do have some mud on them and still work so kudos to Polk on that. I for one hate the plastic grilles I have them installed for protection what little there is but the only company that I've seen with sleek grills is JL but there lower end just isn't worth it.

Quality Speakers Great Price

These 6x9s are driven by a Sony Xplod 55x4 RMS amp. They sound great. The bass rivals a sub box. I have never had 6x9s that sound as nice as these. No disappointments

Excellent sound quality

I purchased these 6x9s to replace the factory speakers in my car. These Polk speakers have a much cleaner & precise sound. Bass is tight and I can hear the separation in the left & right channels now.

Great speakers

Tweeters seem to be the hardest sound to find for me in a speaker, the tweeters in these speakers are awesome, I bought these because soft dome tweeters are my favorite and I have liked them the most. The speakers are very very loud and can handle some watts.

I had the Pioneer 5 ways 6x9s, and these are killing them no comparision, IMO. If you want loud speakers, that are crisp, with great highs, these are them

Excellent sound

Installed these in the fron doors of my 2011 Maxiama with no difficulty. I had to remove a small plastic pin on the factory plate, but all screw holes lined up perfectly. Had to cut the factory harness and install spade ends as there is noo harness adaptor for this vehicle. Sound improvement is very dramatic with improved bass and clarity. Very good value at the Sonix price.

i paired these with the db521's in the doors, these in the deck running off of an older orion amp, and two orion 2NT Ntense 10 inch woofers, they sound fantastic, no flaws, they handle power well and put out crisp vocals, great buy from sonic!!

Absolutely remarkable sound. Existing head is inexpensive JVC but sound quality is fantastic. Very pleased so purchased a Polk active sub as well.

Great Speakers.

I love this speakers they are playing together with a pair of Alpine SPR-69, they sound great, no problems with the combo. Bought those instead of a another pair of Alpines because they seem to have more bang for the money, but those sensitivity ratings are questionable the catalog only states 93db not db/m, so you never now what they really are.

i have these in my '01 accord and they sound very nice. every one that hears them says that they are very clear. not into car audio too much so i cant really compare to other speakers. i like them alot and would recommend buying them.

Wow these speakers really speak-out-loud. The highs let you hear everything and the sound is just awesome. Believe me, you won't miss a note. Also the look of them are very eye catching.

I ordered the 6/12 speakersfor my Harley. This product is so Awsome, The quality of the speakers,the durability of the product is just amazing, I'm riding at speeds of 75 to 80 miles an hour. It sounds like i'm sitting in den at home listening to my surround sound speakers. Very satisfied. Order actually arrived before delivery date. Completely saitsfied with speakers. I would definetly order again from this company.

Good speakers

Great speaker for the price, perhaps maybe a little bit too much treble but everything else is good. Good price and good value.

Nice clean sound

These speakers have a silk dome tweeter which gives them a nice clear sound. They also have that added bass. I definitely recommend amplifying them up so one can fully appreciate them though.

Excellent speakers for the price!

I bought these to pair up with the DB651's powered by an okay hand-me-down amp someone gave me that was, unfortunately, under-powering them. It wasn't until I hooked them up to a more appropriate powered Alpine amp powering them a lot closer to their RMS ratings that I was able to effectively break them in. For the most part, these speakers are definitely on the 'brighter' side. The highs turned out great, mids are good, however even under amplification there isn't too much mid bass happening with this series. But, pair them with a good sub and you'll have that gap remedied. All in all I'd say these are a great bang for your buck!

Be warned

So many decent reviews, I'm shocked. I put them in my sons car and his old beat up speakers sounded better, so we tried an amp and the screeching just got worse. Took them back and got the JL C2's that cost a few more bucks, WOW that was the best thing I ever did.

Nice Sound

I recently purchased these from SonicElectronix.com and installed them in my car. Man, what a difference in sound of these to my stock Clarion speakers.. They have a nice bass and mid tone, and definitely can handle the watts from my stock car amp... I'd suggest these to anyone that wants a mid price 6x9 speaker that has nice sound... Matched these with Polk Audio db6501.

Good Buy

Ive heard good things about Polk Audio but i was a little disappointed.
I have these in a '90 full size Blazer that came with no back speakers so i had to mount them in the siding in the back right between the front and back seats. The highs and mids sound amazing very clear, i have never heard any distortion form them. The lows don't work very well you can turn the bass up but nothing happens the woofer moves but i cant hear the bass. Its a good thing i bought these with a sub. I would recommend these to someone who was buying them that has a sub to take care of the bass and a head unit that has a high/low freq adjustment not to some one who is looking to change factory speakers

Great Speakers for the price.

I am huge Polk Audio fan to begin with, so my selection of Polk’s db691 for my car stereo upgrade was easy. They are clear, powerful and take the power without complaint. They were exact drop-in replacements for the rear deck of my 2000 Bonneville. With just a bit of research I was able to remove the rear seat and deck and install these in about two hours. I do think the sharp angle of my rear window does not aid in the transmission of the nice clean sound, but that is a GM, not Polk design "feature". My only suggestion for the folks at Polk Audio would be to include stake-on connectors with the speakers. The positive and negative are different sizes and a bit fragile. Having the exact match would reduce the likelihood of bending the terminals.

As always Sonic's price and service was top notch!

Great sound

I installed four of these in my boat with two 6.5" and a 12" Rockford sub. This system not only is loud, but the sound is very clear. I would highly recommend.

nice 6x9's

ordered these along with the db 6501's. Have them powered with a ppi 1600 (also bought at sonic ). amp set at 115 rms and they sound awsome. really good mid bass and crisp highs, they compliment the re audio sxxv2d2 10" sub thats powered by ppi 2600 set at 1250 rms. in a 1 ohm load.

Best speakers all around

I bought a set of these and the 6.5 for a dodge ram. I took them out because I thought Infinity comp. were better turns out they weren't then I bought top of the line Pioneers and those were garabage, right now I have Alpine S series and they aren't all that great not much bass. I am going to replace them with Polks again they have good bass and all around full sound.

Sounds great

These are great waterproof speakers. Most other brands sound terrible. These are well worth the money. The only thing I didn't like is that they did not come with speaker wire. Make sure you order some with the speaker connections.

Great Speakers, Great Price

I owned Polk Home & car speakers in the past. I have not owned this particular series but am very impressed. Has very good bass extension and clear highs. I eventually added a sub and put the High Pass Crossover at 100. Clear as a bell. Highly recommended at a great price.
