Wow!

I upgraded my 2007 Trailblazer SS stock Bose front stage to this set last year. Exponential improvement! Last week I replace the 50 Watt per channel Alpine with the PPI Phantom 900.4 and WOW this system matches my friends $2500 Hertz system!! Outstanding value and performance!!!

Looks like quality, built with none.

I purchased these speakers through a different account from sonic electronix about two years ago. In that amount of time I have had these speakers replaced three times. For pretty much the same issue. The 6 & 1/2" speakers begin to get this rattling effect/noise even when playing any amount of bass at all. Cannot explain how loud this rattling is. If you sit in the back of my car when these played it was unbearable. The mid drivers and tweeters are perfect though. Good quality and look and sound good as well.
So now we get to why I am finally posting this negative review, for the fourth time now these speakers are not only blown out and rattling but one of the crossovers is not allowing power through to the 6 & 1/2" speaker when in three way mode. It will only work in two way mode. Noticed this when I saw the speaker was barely producing any noise then noticed it was barely moving. Hooked up two other speakers, still the same. Pushed the button for two way and then with a small wire adjustment on the crossover to supply power it works flawlessly but rattles like a lot. Other speakers do not rattle at all.
The first time I sent these back the cone in the center came loose on both and would spin freely, rattled like crazy. Second time one speaker came in packing with hole in rubber seal. Third time one speaker came with an extremely loose tab for positive and negative connections on speaker, which I broke when I went to tighten down the negative wire. Fourth time which is current, both speakers just rattle. I think it is the coil in the inside, have no way of telling though. So bad that I have removed them and have no rear speakers. One million times better in sound quality now.
I have never owned such terrible speakers nor ever had to return speakers like I have had to with these. I am dumb founded by the amount of problems I have had with them. On a personal note Sonic electronix has always been very helpful and accepted my returns are been very prompt with getting a replacement out to me. So thank you. The other thing is I barely listen to music at all. When I do it is usually classic orchestra music and I want it to sound good. I love the sounds of the car more than anything but on long drives I want to be able to relax and listen to something enjoyable. My stock speakers were blown out so I thought I would give these a try because they look so appealing. They definitely sound more clear with the added tweeter and mid driver but the the large speakers have serious build quality issues, and now i am starting to think the crossovers are in need in of quality checks as well. I highly recommend to everyone to pass on these and purchase something from a reputable name like boston accoustics, rockfard fosgate, re audio, etc.. These will give you way to many issues. I am out of warranty now so I cannot return these for anything so that is annoying.I most likely would have had more than three returns if I used these speakers more and gave them a more standard break in period. If I had to guess I would say that I got six to eight hours between the two sets before the rattling started. For me that is about 5-6 months of listening time. I almost never write reviews but I have just had it with these speakers.
