From an old installer

I have been installing audio for over 15 years and now I just do it for myself as a hobby. I decided to try these because of the low price and nice specifications. One thing to note, is that these respond a lot different based on the amount of power you apply to them. They seem to sound rather shallow at lower volumes even with signal processing, but once you start pushing moderate to high (CLEAN) volume output to it, they come alive and sound nice. I suspect this is because of the rather stiff suspension on them. I have only had them for about 3 weeks now so maybe they will "loosen" up and sound better - not sure.

As with any pro audio, its always a plus to run the input signal thru some sort of dsp and crossover to get a nicer response.

Ppi 654

These midranges have an excellent sound. High range that can take some of the load off of the tweeter. Mine are crossed over at about 7000k on the top end. I run them off of an Ppi art series AX606. That do lack in lower frequencies. Bottoming out at 150 hz. I have them crossed at 196hz. The have smooth airy sound for screaming guitars and great vocal capabilities. Hoping they last as long as my amps from Ppi have they are from 1996 so duribility has yet to be determined. But they handle power very well.

Sounds good

Pros sounds good cons but no big deal magnet is close to same size diameter as speaker. Sounds great.
