Good camera for under $30

The unit greatly improves rear view vision on my '13 Subaru Impreza. Did have to extend the video cable to reach my Eclipse head unit, but otherwise the install was easy. Has very wide field of view, good low-light performance, and yellow distance indicators. I installed it to the top of my license plate frame using black cable ties so the top of the license plate is not blocked as per NY DMV laws. Looks good like this, almost unnoticeable.

A Good Product

I bought this rearview camera for safety and to help see how close I could get backing up without hitting anything. For the safety part, the camera is Excellent! If say a child should suddenly run behind your auto, you have a wide angle of vision. Backing up to get close without touching, you still have to use your judgement.
I used it on my 88 Lincoln Town Car, I did need to buy an extension for the wiring to reach the radio, otherwise the installation was as easy as promoted.

Good for the Money

This camera is really good for the money. It provides a decent picture most of the time, it has back up distance bars to at least give you a reference of how close you are to objects.

The only time that the picture is bad is when there is a light directly in the line of sight, at night, it washes out the picture and the driver cannot see much. Actually, it does not work as well at night as it does in the day, but it does work. The other thing that was a bummer is that I wanted to mount it at the top of the license plate, however it covers the state name on my plate which is illegal where I live. So I had to mount it to the bottom of the plate.

Overall it was the price that I wanted to pay and it does exactly what I hoped it would. If you want a perfect camera, expect to pay more money. If you want a serviceable camera to assist in backing the car up, this is a good option.

Just for reference I have own this for just over a month, installed it myself on an 08 Sienna (fairly straight forward), I have had no problems with it to this point. My star rating is relative to the price point.

Decent product for the money

Nice unit, easy installation with dash kit and wire harness. Gps works great! Bluetooth and Radio are good along with back up camera option. Could be a bit more refined but for 300 buck, what would you expect.

Great camera, AWSOME color , Easy installation,. Back up scale cold graduate t from green, to yellow, to Red, instead of all yellow. I guess I just got use to other units that had the different colors . But all in all it is a great Product .

Great Camera for the $

Like the title says, it's a great backup camera for the money. Installation was really easy. You can see in the daytime or night time. The picture isn't crystal clear, but does a great job when it comes to having something assist you when you are backing up. It does have a distance scale, but it isn't color coded (green/yellow/red) to let you know how close or far you are, but it's easy to figure out so really that isn't necessary. I give it 5 stars because for the $, it's really hard to beat.

I called and ask why the camera works when the car isn't running and as soon as I start the car the picture goes blank and gets squiggly lines and also asked what the two orange wires hanging off each end of the rca cable is for? once again they didn't have a clue and sent me a link to a video on how to install a totally different camera with different connections. these expert installers don't have a clue.

Great camera

Paired this with my soundstream stereo. Camera is clear and has a wide angle. Purchased mainly to help with backing up to boat but works well for navigating crowded parking lots as well. Highly recommend.

Stopped working

4 months after installing this, the camera started to only show black and white. then it would flicker between black and white and color.
then it would only randomly work.
1 month after the first sign of issues, it completely stopped working.

9 months after purchase, it still no longer works. tried rewiring and everything.

This was also during spring and summer. didnt even get to experience winter quality or waterproof ability.

While it was working, the video was 7/10. but thats to be expected from this low priced camera.

Better than expected

This camera gives a very clear image. I wasn't real sure on the placement. It turns out it's exactly at "eye level when I'm hooking a trailer... One shot every time!!!!

Great Camera for the Price

Simple camera at an economy price! Pretty much the same quality of camera you would get from a factory install except it's plate mounted.

Not as clear a picture as in other rear view cameras I have install. Image a little to dark.
