Worth It.

I installer this on a 1996 GMC Yukon (2 Door) with no factory security (not even a chipped key), so my install was pretty straightforward. The only default setting I had to change on the alarm was from Manual to Automatic transmission mode.

This took me quite a few weekends, but I also ran a new fuse panel, replaced factory ground and main power wires, and also installed 2 additional Directed modules. This alarm allowed me to easily tie in a few options, so now I can remotely roll up and down both windows, remote start my truck, and use auto headlights. Options on the alarm also allow for auto lock/unlock on ignition.

I planned on using the tach for remote start, but the Virtual Tach seems to work very well with my Vortec 5.7. Learning process was simple, and while the install instructions leave a lot to be desired (clearly Directed wants this installed by a pro,) a few Google searches answered any questions I had.

Tip: buy a lot of relays.. Most of the inputs & outputs on this (and most newer) alarms put out/require less than 200ma. Also, I recommend crimps with built on heat shrink.. all of my crimps turned out strong and protected. You will have a ton of wires to manage.. take your time and set it up properly to avoid issues in the future. Trying to diagnose an electronic gremlin with this system on top of your factory wiring is something to avoid.
