Just what I needed!

Just built a new system that I hooked up in my room and I wanted a simple way to measure the SPL that my two MTX TR7510-44 subs created. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a termlab set of my own so I decided to go with this. Durable and measures spl differences very precisely. This meter is very helpful and is a great buy for those who want a low cost way to test the sound level of their system!

Just simply works

There's not a lot to this one. It just has an on/off button. Nothing to figure out and not much to go wrong. If you're looking for a simple and convenient way to measure sound levels, look no further!

Cheap solution

Works like a champ for my need. I could not justify a more expensive solution for my project and this fills the need perfectly

Works just fine!

We have what some consider a loud church. Our worship team rocks...
Sometimes a little too much. We watch the decibels to keep it sane.
Thanks.

Scosche SPLMETER

Love this thing. I don't just use it for my car. I use it at work too. It was surprising to see the readings it gives for the areas I work and live in, considering I really didn't imagine it being so loud. Great tool for any box.

Cool device

This meter is pretty cool. I don't know how accurate it is, but it's definately cool to compete with your friends to see who has the loudest system. It ended up breaking on me, the end piece came apart that reads the db. So durability isn't great, but its a neat product.

Good buy

The Shosche SPL1000 spl meter is a great deal for the price. Nice to see how loud the system pounds.

Not bad but inaccurate

This meter is worth the price but if you have a loud sound system, don't even bother. This thing doesn't read over 130dB and even under it, it's not accurate at all. It's actually off by quite a lot of dB. If you want real accurate meters, get a Term-Lab but it will cost a lot.

It has its uses.

This product does not accurately measure noises above 120 decibels.

Great gadet

W******* use to sell these but I have since never seen one there and after i found them here i decided to purchase one. I would recommend this meter to anyone, though i am not sure if it is 100percent accurate it still gives you a general idea of your db, and the back light is nice for anytime you want to use it at night. as well as the max and min settings that it also has, not to mention it has a quick db reference on the bad of the device that has some general sounds and their dbs, also even comes with a free set of ear plugs.

Works Well

I bought this meter to measure sound levels in my vehicles to help me decide whether I wanted to add sound insulation to improve the ride experience. It has done it's job well. It has been instrumental in helping me determine what changes I needed to make in each vehicle. The price was right and the service commendable.

Scosche SPL1000 (SPLMETER)

As stated by a combination of users here, this meter is good for comparison but, if what you are measuring is over about 110-115db the meter is not accurate. My current audio systems average peak on Term-LAB at 140.3db and on this meter it registers consistently at 126.1. For a pocket, fast improvement check it is not a bad meter at all but for accuracy over 115db you will have to invest at least $200.

Good buy

I liked the product and used it for a while. Found it very useful. This device has the tendency to get accidentally turned on due to the power button being located on the outside of the unit in an easy to bump location. As a result it got turned on a lot when not in use. However, it lasted for months and months (it might still be working now without need of battery replacement, but I haven't used it for a while). It is not terribly accurate but it comes close. Definitely worth the price!

Fun

Not sure how accurate it is about 120 or so Db's but its fun to play with for bragging rights, my buddies borrow it all the time.
My 15" Fi Q in a 3 cu ft box tuned to 35hz getting 2300wrms+ and only read about 125db's on this meter but on a termlab would have prolly read about135 or so DB's

Excellent value

I bought the SplMeter to set up my A/V receiver speaker balance. The meter worked great - it cost me less to buy the SPL1000 new than a one day rental of a dB meter. Now I can tweak my speaker settings whenever I want using the SPL1000

Scosche SPL1000

The meter worked well, but I was using it for a science class and would have liked for it to measure sounds at lower decibels too. I think the lower limit was 60 - if memory serves.

Pretty Cheap

NOT bad at all I use it for customer cars. fits in my pocket and it is pretty accurate. Down Fall is it peaks at 130db which is pretty loud. But not loud enogh for me. Good tool for moderate install tuning.

Fun

good to use to see how loud your stereo is all around or just each speaker is alone. you can just to have fun with ur friends and see who has the louder stereo system of the nite.

Good value, low on features

Worked just fine, but I can't be sure how accurate it is, as I haven't used it side by side with something higher-end. Which would make sense that I couldn't seem to get accurate very loud measurements. There is also nowhere that says what 'kind' of measurement it is, A or C weighting.
This is a very simple meter, and good for simple use, where a 'general' measurement is sufficient. Don't tune your room with this.
