Does everything well at a great price

Love this stereo. Bought it for the USB and aux jack for my Ipod. Love the interface -- able to control all functions of my Ipod from the stereo itself. Love the different equalizer settings. This little deck has it all, or in my case, exactly what i was looking for to replace my factory Mazda stereo in my 2003 Protege5. It was fairly easy to install, too. My 14 year old son helped make all the wiring connections. The kit included everything I needed to make the install fit perfectly to my Mazda. Thanks SonicElectronix.com. You guys rock.

Really Hesitant to go any other way

I have had two of these stereos. My first one some one stole my car and when the police returned the stereo the radio was gone.. So I got another one cause I loved it so much! Sounds great and I love the display! My one thing I don't like about it is that you can't control the equalizer you just have 7 choices that are already preset. but otherwise its great! I would say it really bumps!!!

a real deal

I put this in my boat to replace the kicker that I had, the kicker would always over heat, I have had this amp for over a year and no problems. I would recommend.

Good Performance

Easy device to install in vehicle and with an average set of speakers, the radio and digtal sound was great.

The head unit is easy to install and operate. It is a cheap price for what all it will do, from CD's to USB and AUX. I love how I can easily control my subs from it. JUST BUY IT!!!

I have this in a 97 Blazer and its a dream of a unit expecialy for the price paid. Exactly as described and hasnt let me down yet.

Excellent radio

I purchased this radio to replace my stock radio when the CD player failed. It works great and was easy to install. I really enjoy the USB, and the ability to play my music via a flash drive. The unit has plenty of features to customize the display. Great radio for the money. I have had no problems with it. I would recommend this unit for a good reliable stock radio replacment.

Great replacement for stock stereo

I was looking to replace the original stereo in a 1999 CRV. After looking at a number of sites and reviews I settled on the CDX-GT550UI. After ordering the radio with the installation kit and harness I set about installing it. The CRV has one of the most difficult consoles to work on, which has nothing to do with the radio itself or the install kit. Once I had the old radio out I found that the mounting holes on the radio did not match up with the old holes in the Honda bracket so I had to use the adapter kit. While the kit did fit the bay underneath the radio is significantly deeper and narrower than the original so putting items into it frequently requires getting something to fish them out. I can probably drill out the mounting bracket and not use the kit but taking the dash apart is too much trouble.

The radio itself is very good. The installation instructions were clear and attaching the harness was no problem at all. It would have been nicer if the harness had wires a couple of inches longer since the Honda harness was a bit short and getting the antenna and harness attached before setting the adapter in place was a real challenge.

I listen to a lot of books on tape or CD, so I go to the library, check out the books and rip them to MP3s. Having the front USB port makes it simple to put the MP3s on from my computer and listen to them on my drive to and from work each day. The MP3 player has an annoying pause between files so if the file breaks in the middle of a sentence it throws off the reading a bit.

The built-in EQ is very flexible and the standard settings are usually sufficient for most of my listening. I have had the radio installed for about 6 months with no problems. I would recommend this radio, particularly at the price I got it for from Sonic. The unit was shipped quickly and the needed parts were all correct for the install.

Great Value player

Sony CDX GT550UI player is indeed a great CD player. The sound quality is unbelievable. I would like to recommend Sony CDX GT550UI to every one who wants to buy an excellent car CD player with reasonable price. I am happy with it. And I do hope you feel the same too if you get one.

Most people dont need more than this.

Better than average.

This CD player isn't the most powerful or convenient as far as making adjustments and keeping your eyes on the road, but it has plenty of options and some pretty good EQ presets. I'd be happier if it had more subwoofer options for bass boost. I'm not getting much from my sub like with the Pioneer or Kenwood decks I owned. But if you read the manual you'll find some pretty nice fm and mp3 options to enhance playback quality and retrieve/memorize fm stations by broadcast info. The 2 preouts are 2 volts so I would look for 4 volt preouts if I bought another unit. Over all it's a pretty nice radio that'll certainly do the job. There's not a whole lot you can ask of a CD player except more options or user friendliness.
