Good car stereo for the price

With all the latest features like USB and iPod connectivity etc. this makes a good car stero for the price. The flashing lights and the stuff about Sony that gets displayed when playing music could be annoying for some people. Detaching and attaching the face plate is not very easy and you always would be scared if you would break something.

Absolutely Great Head Unit

This is a great no-nonsense stereo with some nice features and expandability options. I highly recommend Sony products for their value and reliability. I just love it.

this product is very good and very user friendly. i only complain that the display catches glare easily and its hard to see what your doing when its bright out.

Sony-GT640UI Head unit (Miracle Maker)

This Sony CDX-GT640UI is the best head unit I have owned. I love how it is easy to use and the technology it uses makes the music sound a heck of a lot better. The DSO feature actually works and makes not just your iPod music but your radio music have a fuller sound. It really is a fantastic buy.

I put this in my bike and have made a long trip through all kinds of weather and no problems, great sound. and easy menu. with the controls on my handle bars it is seamless. only problem I have found is I can't see the screen in the sun to well but I can live with that.

Great Value for a Great Price

I like this player because it meets all my requirements for a Car Player. It has High and Low bass filters to tune your inside speakers and subs to just the right tone. It also has the MP3 feature and aux, which makes this CD player a great deal. Get it sounding great with this great priced great functions Sony.

Good Buy

I love this CD player. I can scroll right through my iPod right through the head unit, and find any song fast. Plus, it has good low pass and high pass settings. I only wish that there were more colors for the backlight, but blue and green aren't that bad. Thats not what I paid for. I paid for a head unit, and thats exactly what I got. I'm satisfied.

I would definitely recommend this product I bought it for my husband for his birthday and he loves it. It has all the features that he wanted and hasnt had a minutes problem with it.

Good head unit

Highly recommend! Replaced JVC unit that I really liked. After small learning curve it a great unit. Sounds great and has lots of flexibility. Go from this to CDT comps in front and CDT coaxial in rear. 4 ch. x 125w driving all with powered sub to fill out. I am an SQ guy, not a thumper. This unit has USB input for Nano and sounds amazing. There is huge SQ difference with the Sony. Very easy to eq system and quality can not be more pleasing. I like that it has 6 preamp outs and gives you control over sub from HU. A very fine unit all the way round.

This head is the bomb!!!

Something that i love about this 1 is that you can switch it to iPod Mode. This allows you to go ahead and search on your iPod for a song and play it. This way you don't have to look through all your songs on the head unit's tiny screen. 2 color display. Green/blue the green is much dimmer perfect for light. I just got a Kicker CVX 10' to put in my trunk and i can use the high and low pass filters to trim the bass from the speakers for the sub to boom. ahhh i cant wait!

nice radio

i bought this radio for my 2005 mercury mountaineer and i like the front usb and aux inputs. i would have to say that its fairly user friendly. i would recommend that anyone looking to upgrade to consider this one. And if you are wanting to know the pac swi-ps does work with this radio. dont bother trying to find this radio any cheaper they do have the lowest price.

great radio

I got it hooked up to a Clarion EQS 746 and they are a good match. Sounds loud and clear with 2 15 inch l5's and diamond audio components with hifonics amp for the highs and a kicker amp for the bass. recognizes a lot of other mp3 players besides the iPod. Someone stole it so now I am replacing it. I hate the freaking ghetto!

good product!

Ive owned this product for a about 6 months now. It has worked well, to the top of my expectations. The 6 channel pre-amp outputs are great, although as of now I am only using 2 for a sub. The only con i have is the main control knob. It is way too sensitive. When you reach for it, and you go over even a tiny bump, you can nudge the wheel and go into menu mode. Its irritating, but you could just use the remote control that comes with it. And also, you just get used to turning the knob from the side, instead of putting your hand right over it. Overall, great product, small price.

sweet head unit

this head unit is sooo sick! my favorite thing is that you can switch it to Ipod mode which allows you to search through your music on your ipod and play it that way. much easier than searching for a song using the radio wheel on the little screen. blue/green lights. green is for night time (pretty dim), also some good preset eq's.

Bought this to replace in my 01 Honda civic. I drive 90 miles round trip to work everyday, so I wanted something good but cheap. This is a great CD player... Well worth the money. Wish it came with a hard shell case for detachable face.

Good next step

This was second upgrade for my car. I liked the unit a lot.

Pro: 6 rca outs for 4 ch. amp & sub amp. Sub control on unit. Okay eq. cd's sounded good. Very flexible.
Con: Unable to view during daylight. Sony needs to fix that. Ripped mp3's were not all same level, and had to adjust for each song.

Sony Review

Product is decent. I haven't had any major problems with it. I have had it for about 6 months and when winter came along it started acting up. Freezing and shutting off by itself. I also don't like how loud I can control my subs bc the headunit does not support my amp. I can't complain though bc I can still bump hard. It's a good headunit but I prefer Kenwood headunits over anything.

I Trust Sony!!

I have been buying SONY products for years and have found them to be reliable, trustworthy and fine products. I own a 40" inch SONY Bravia HD TV and I just love it. My most recent purchase was the SONY CDX-GT640UI CD player/radio for my car. The sound is awesome, it plays CDs, IPods and has a great AM/FM radio. I don't know if I'm just lucky or that SONY produces first rate products. I'm guessing the latter.

Great Deck

Got to say i am very pleased with this head unit. Great blue light and display is very visible during the day. There is no delay going from station to station or going from tuner to ipod, goes right in and starts to play the song. Upgraded from a good Kenwood and i would take this one over the Kenwood anyday. The only thing this one does not have is the ability to go bluetooth. You can upgrade with the ipod adapter and or the HD tuner fairly cheap compared to Alpine. I currently have this unit hooked up to three amps and it sounds good. All of the functions are easy to use.

Awesome head unit!!

This thing is legit. Great sound quality plus many features to change the way you listen to different types of music. I also like the blue or green button light function. I use the green at night because the blue is pretty bright and use blue during the day cause green isn't quite bright enough. Love this thing. Had it for a couple months now.

i absolutely love this stereo, it was a great purchase. sound quality is nice, and it's loud. great eq and filter options, you can really tailor the sound. only complaint would be the arrangement of the buttons on the far left side of the unit - they're not quite intuitive and you end up changing sources or tracks accidentally if you're not careful. it's a dumb button arrangement. that aside, i'd definitely recommend it, and i'd purchase it again in an instant.
