Amazing In-Dash

This head unit really has impressed me. It had everything that i was looking for in a new head unit and then some.

I was looking for and researching a new head head unit for over a month before i decided to get this one. I was replacing an aftermarket head unit which had CD changer controls and that limited my options quite a bit. This head unit does everything. I can play CDs from my 10-disc changer in the trunk, a CD in the head unit itself, music from my ipod through the direct connect, or music through a front side aux! Oh, and it has a radio tuner too... but i don't use that. The best part is how smooth the unit it. I can switch between cd and ipod flawlessly. This is perfect because i drive a lot of people and music plays an important role in entertaining.

The iPod controls are fantastic. Very easy to navigate through the iPod. I was worried about how easy it would be before i got the unit because i has hundreds and hundreds of artists on my iPod. This unit make it super simple to find exactly what your looking for and it can do it fast. This surpassed my expectations by far. The direct connect come out the rear or the unit so i wired it into my glove compartment. i like it because it keeps my iPod out of sight.

The Head unit looks really good. You can change to other colors, but blue really does look the best.

If you are looking for a head unit to do everything, this is it. well, everything except for navigation i guess...

Great price for a amazing unit!

Best deck ever!

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-GT81UW).

This deck has everything I need. Great sound, 4 volt sub out and you can fine tune your system to sound perfect, remote control is a must as well. Really easy to install. Unbeatable price. Best deck ever!

Sirius Tuner

Has anyone ever had any issues with the tunner not picking up the signal from the Sirius radio? Everything functions as it is supposed to and works great except for the Sirus Radio. I get a great signal in the morningings but after I turn off the power for any lenght of time, it doesnt come back on. I am not sure it it is the Radio or the external tuner.

Thank for any help on this.

Perfect for Ipod use

I bought the sony CDX-GT820IP about 4 months ago after owning a JVC Hd radio. It comes with a Ipod cord already attached to it so all you have to do is plug the Ipod in. This has been the best head unit i have ever owned, the ease of scrolling through your ipod on the face plate is incredibly easy and is extremely easy to learn. A new feature it has on it is "jump mode" which if you have a large database of artists, tracks or songs on a play list allows you to scan through by jumping up to 50 entries at a time to find what you need faster.

The design looks very slick i have recieved so many compliments on how it looks, the display portion and how well it makes music sound. It has the ability to control the sound very well, with Highs, Mids and Lows all being able to be adjusted from 1-10 Db. As welll as the frequency that it picks up.

Overall I think very highly of this head unit and would suggest it to anyone that enjoys being able to fine tune the sound of thier system and would like to easily control their Ipod on the head unit.

I hope this helped

Great iPod Stereo!!

I researched iPod capable units for about a month, reading reviews and shopping prices. I focused on Sony because their units seemed to have everything I wanted and were priced well. So, I ordered the CDX-GT820IP for its iPod cable and nicer screen. I got the unit this week (fast shipping!!), had it installed today and WOW!!!

Great unit! I haven't played with all the features yet, but the iPod integration is flawless. Sony seems to have fixed all the problems that I read people were having with the display, search and resume functions of the older iPod adapter. Pretty much the HU does everything the iPod does. Plus, it does resume at the spot you left off on your iPod.

Pros: iPod integration, animated display (like on pricey units), aux on front, good sound, easy menu navigation (I read complaints about this, but I found it easy and intuitive, PRICE (great on Sonic Electronix), and it looks high end

Cons: Haven't found any yet.

Excellent

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-GT81UW).

this head unit has probably one of the best soundstages i think i've ever heard. it's loud and powerful. and the sound is excellent. read cds and all that other cool stuff. looks awesome. highly recommended, only if u are not planning on using the sony ipod controller with. the sony ipod controller sucks. it takes ten years to search for an artist. the only pratical way for the ipod hook up is if u plan on using only playlists. but besides that. with cds and radio. this headunit is incredible. especially for the price. but it does take a little bit to figure out all the features. ipod. and loaded mp3 disc wise.

The only problem I have with this stereo is about the ipod interface. If you browse the ipod through the stereo and play a song, when you browse again it always starts at the beginning and you have to go all the way back to where you want. Its not like an actual ipod where it remembers what album you were in. This gets annoying when you have thousands of songs/albums to sort through to get to what you want. Otherwise, the sounds quality is very good and the ipod interface is lag free and clear.

This one is worth every dime! Baby!

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-GT81UW).

I bought one online last December 07 but just hooked up along with a decent P325.1 mono Amp from Rockford fosgate and 33 L x 15 W x 20 H ported enclosure with 12" Alpine subs. Geez! believe it or yeah! Believe it! (Not, is not an option) This one rocks and will kick all the other deck brands of its class and price big time. The USB port is the biggest catch. I tested it with a 1 GB stick and man, it pumped up the roof with 40 continuous pounding non-stop. I made the best choice but buying this online though because in Canada, particularly in Vancouver, this one is not even available yet.

Great Product!!!

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-GT805DX).

I bought this last winter. It is the best cd player I've ever owned. The 4 volt preamp outputs are prime for hooking up a big system and getting the most power out of it. Also, the high and low pass filters make the music more clear than ever. I can filter all the bass out of my speakers to get crystal clear music and leave the bass to the subwoofers. I owned it before I had subs too and it made even the speakers sound great like I already had subs. Great unit for a great price, I bought it when it was 200 and it was still well worth the money. Recommended buy for anybody and easy to use.
