This is a GREAT head unit

With all of the features this is the best unit for the money I have used in years. The signal processing makes my MP3's sound outstanding, though of course the CD is still better. The Bluetooth audio sounds better than a USB connection. Not that complicated to use, takes about 10 minutes to set it up. Has not failed me yet. The built in crossover is actually working great for me, three amps using only the built in crossover. Could use a little less bass on the front set but not so much that I need to add a crossover.

I really like this unit!

Pros:
Quality of music is excellent, Versatile, Once paired to a device, It will always search for it as soon as you turn on the ignition. Examples like GPS unit and my cell phone using an android Atrix. It will also find whatever music I have on my phone and play it. I also purchased an optional microphone for it. It will automatically connect me to whatever phone call I may have. It shuts the volume off on the radio automatically.

Cons:
I have had this unit six months. I have yet to figure out everything it does. It's a bit complicated to use Due to the fact that the labels for each of the buttons are labeled so tiny you can't really see them. It would be handy here if the labels were Lighted. Mind you I'm an old fart! Not sure on how long it will last, as it's a throwaway society nowadays and most everything electronically seems to Die early.

If it lasts as long as the car I'll be happy. All in all, I really love this unit!

This unit work great, for the price, amazing!

Excellent stereo, Excellent merchant

For the price the Sony MEX-BT3900U cannot be beat! Trust Sonic, the order was shipped fast and came with all the installation accessories they said it would. I paired it with four Kicker 08K600's and couldn't be happier with the sound in my 00 CRV. All the features work great, but in the future I might add an external mic for the Bluetooth, my CRV is a little hollow on the inside, and I guess I sound a little bit like I'm in a tunnel. I think if I had a more quiet passenger cabin there wouldn't be a problem, and the CRV is not a quiet ride.

I would like to recommend this one. It has all the functions I need, especially front USB, front aux in, Bluetooth. All the functions work well as they are supposed to do. Nothing to complain.

Some comments said the white button on the front panel is too bright in the evening. I did not feel that. No problem at all for me.

It has no SD/microSD card support. This is not very good, but I am using a USB reader to access my microSD card. So it is still ok.

It only support CD. If it can support DVD, it will be great, but since I can use external USB, this is not very important.

Conclusion: very very good. If it can support DVD and SD/microSD, it will be perfect.

Sony BT3900U

I've been running the Sony for about 6 months now and I couldn't be happier. This is my first BT stereo so I wouldn't call myself an expert but the audio streaming and BT calls work fantastic. I do wish I would have gotten the external mic as sometimes people say it sounds like I'm under water. I think its just because the stereo is far from me. Some have complained about the beeping when you turn your car off and I can't say it bothers me one bit. I don't even hear it anymore. Lots of power for the money!!!

Everything accept for a few flaws. Freezes up when someone calls me and Bluetooth is connected, and also if its not on tuner you wont be shown the time. Other than that its ok. I wish i could be heard better when making a call too. Also its very NOT user friendly when it comes to adjusting your equalizer, like bass and trebble etc.

Great Deck

This is the second MEX-BT2900U I've bought from Sonic & Sony. The first went into my daughters car, so she wouldn't be as tempted to break the law on cell phone usage - the second for myself as my old deck didn't have BT phone options. It works great - I get in the car and the phone sync'd - then its easy to answer and talk using the sound system already in the car. Muisc from my phone also sounds great!! Really Happy with the purchase.

Good Product, Good Price

Very happy with it. Easy to install. Bluetooth works fine, and the integrated mic is very good, and it is not necessary to add the external mic. The sound from Radio/Disc/USB Sticker is much better than the original one even with the stock speakers. I strongly recommend it.

I purchased this unit because it had all the key features in one convenient package: Bluetooth with phonebook access, front USB port, built-in microphone, decent audio quality. Installation was straightforward. The sound is standard Sony quality (good for the price). The bluetooth works flawlessly. We are able to stream music and phone calls from our phones with ease. The built-in microphone works great! Sony must have good background noise cancelling built-in. People on the other end of the conversation hear me perfectly and can't even tell that they're on speaker phone in a car. My only complaint is Sony's silly default "Demo Mode" (designed for in-store displays) where all the lights flash and text scrolls across the display until you figure how to navigate into the menu and shut that mode down forever. Once you do, the display and controls are certainly more elegant.

I am very happy with this Sony! I put it in a small truck and after I made some adjustments it sounded great with just the stock speakers! There are many options and settings. The built in Bluetooth phone works well although I would buy the accessory mic. The internal mike works with the windows up and the fan off but it picks up lots of noise if not. Overall for the price I have been very happy. : -)

This radio is amazing one problem the bluetooth has a echo chamber. But I fixed It. Great Value. I buy all my Stuff from Sonic. Its my third time shopping at Sonic and it won't be my last time. Buy this radio and ENJOY

Happy Sonic Customer

I ordered and received it via free shipping in 3 days. Great job. The instructions were fairly clear. I got help from the Internet, My Son and from Sonic. I asked a question of Sonic tech support and had an answer within hours....very nice. I had the radio installed very quickly and it does everything it is supposed to do. If you use your phone a lot, you may want to get the external mike for the Blue Tooth. I dont use mine very often in the car, so the internal one is fine. My XM Roady XT works great thru the external Aux connection. The 3 beeps when you shut the car off is a litte annoying, but not really a big deal.

Very slick deck. All functions are easy to use and navigate. Built in Bluetooth microphone on faceplate is killer! No wires to run. Sound quality is good too. Sony did good!!

Good Stereo, Good Merchant

As the previous review, I am also replacing a Clarion, which after a few years the CD quit. I don't know how the CD works on this Sony yet as all I have listened to is IPOD and flash drives. You really need to study the instructions on this to know what you are doing while driving. I have 9 days of music on my IPOD and it is a little hard to get through the artist with how I must have it set up to shuffle. I am planning on buying another for my wife's car. I had some concerns with Sonic prior to purchase, but I think the negative comments I found were for people requesting refunds. I have found that even the great A***** is not so great on refunds. My experience so far has been great. I recommend this stereo and SonicElectronix. I rated durability as a 3 as I have only had the unit a month. Maybe after a few years I could actually rate it higher. So far it is a 5.

Sony MEX-BT3900U EXCELLENT

This stereo is an excellent value. I have it installed in a Tundra, and use all of its features. I purchased a few very tiny USB flash drives from Staples, and have tons of albums loaded. Also run XM through the front AUX input and use CDs full of MP3s. Stream Pandora from my phone and use the hands free. My state doesn't allow touching your phone while driving at all. Highly recommend.

What a deal!

Bought one of these about 6 months ago and installed quickly and easily in our old Saturn SL2, where it's also married to a Sirius tuner and Sony adapter. Worked so well that I've installed a second unit in another car and totally love it - except for occasional Bluetooth issues. Occasionally it locks up the phone's Bluetooth when streaming audio. Music simply stops playing and the phone needs to be powered down and restarted. Once, I needed to pull the phone's battery to reset. Another is that Bluetooth seems to always automatically connect to the phone functionality, but I usually have to stop and restart the Bluetooth transmission on the phone end to be recognized for audio play - this is no big deal. I don't know if this is the LG Optimus phone or player. All in all, I'm thrilled with the purchase - features abound, strong tuner and great sound. When coupled with the remote mic, telephone conversation is so good that most callers won't know that it's hands-free.

Takes a while to get used to the interface. Bluetooth works great. Wish it had parametric equalizer.

Great Value, Excellent Head Unit, BUY BUY BUY

This is an amazing head unit which i purchased to replace my stock Honda Civic 2001 radio. Its perfect does everything said and the installation is a piece of cake. Got it hooked up in no time thanks to the free wiring harness and dash kit included for free thanks to Sonicelectronixs. I love it definitely recommended.

Awesome unit!

I love this HU! It replaced a Clarion CZ500, which broke on me. I love the Bluetooth, though sometimes you have to turn on and off bluetooth to get the audio streaming to connect. The red color is kind of nice, though RGB LEDs would have been even cooler. This is louder than the Clarion also, though I don't crank it up. I haven't tried the USB iPod feature, I just use bluetooth to my iPhone. Sonic's shipping was SUPER FAST... It was delivered the day after I got the shipping notice.

Good product

I received the unit quickly and in good condition. I also ordered the seperate mic and was able to almost hide it in my headliner. The head unit works really nice and was easy to program all the PH stuff into. Mic operation is good but not great (my Prius factory system is better). I also really like the eq section which made my system sound better than the old head. The only really negative thing I have to say about this deck is in regards to the annoying beeps you have to listen to every time the key is turned off. Every other unit I've looked at allowed you to turn off this "feature" but this one won't.
The one bright white button is really out of place and is distracting but I have gotten somewhat used to it. Selecting specific music from the Ipod connection is complicated and using the genre selection portion just doesn't work from what I have found.

Great sound quality

Like all Sony products, this unit produces great sound quality, better than the previous "premium audio system" on my Ford Escape 2003 Limited. My kid also loves the remote control. There are only some less than ideal features that I like to mention. When you turn on the RDS system, the tuner shows the additional info of the songs being played on the radio, but the clock will not show up. The white button light is quite bright in the night and unfortunately it can't be controlled by the car's instrument panel dim switch. I just put a piece of duct tape on the white button and it feels much better.

good system for the money...

This was a good purchase for the money. The Bluetooth connectivity provides good audio quality. I haven't been able to figure out how to get the system to continue to display the clock when streaming with Bluetooth.

Radio is decent for the price.

Just got the radio working. Anyways radio works great Bluetooth works great with iPhone, Streams music easily sounds great. Things I don't like is built in mic on unit isn't very good sounds like a echo chamber I will buy a external mic should solve problem. Other thing is too much Bass I haven't yet figured out how to dial it in yet hopefully I can . Other then that Id Buy this unit again for the price.

Good Stuff!

Bluetooth is awesome. Seamless recognition whenever I get in the vehicle. The only thing that keeps it from being a 5 is phone clarity. Needs an external mic in my truck.

best in dash i have ever owned

i can not say anything bad about this in dash, everything sounds great and im hard to please, great price lots of features and sounds incredable, i have four kicker speakers and a 800 watt polk audio sub amp with a 12 inch polk dvc sub in a sealed inclosure hooked up to this in dash and i love it, the sub controls work great, dont think i can find a better sounding in dash even if i spent four times as much
