Great Radio for a great price

This radio does everything: Bluetooth calling plus music can be played via CD, aux, USB, and even Bluetooth. Looks awesome and even makes factory speakers sound pretty decent.

Put this in my friends toyota along with 4 sony speakers
this deck has lots of features and good power. I like that the volume knob has a rubber susurround it makes it easier to turn. over all its a very nice deck and my frefriend was very pleased especially because you can change the colors he loves red And he loves the hands free phone calls. give it 5 stars and sonic 5 stars

Great Budget Deck!

Great deck that can easily power some 6.5's and 6x9's. Great clarity and bass that makes any music I choose to listen to sound amazing. Love the Mega Bass feature and the fact that it has 3 sets of pre outs at such a low price point. Bluetooth works great with my iPhone. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a new deck that looks and sounds great.

Awesome deck

I put this deck in a 99 Dodge Ram and it looks great. I really like all the functions that it has and the phone app works very well. It improved the sound of the stock speakers and has no output distortion all the way up to 50. I have had it In my truck for about a month now and it has held up great! No signs of wear and no issues. All the colors look very good and it will hook up to factory dimming if your stock radio has that option. Screen is easily seen in the sunlight! All in all I would definitely recommend this radio to anyone looking to upgrade!

Good deal

The radio was reasonably priced. My only criticism about it is that you push less buttons to get Blue Tooth and Sirius and Pandora. I only wanted the radio and CD part. It takes more time to go between the two. Also, it was hard to read the manual to find out how to set one color instead of a rainbow of colors that flash on the radio. The sound is great, installation was easy (I was told). I cannot speak to the durability of it as I have only owned it a month.

1989 YJ Jeep install

I read a blog previously that some drilling was required. The studs do not align with speaker holes. I didn't expect how much work would be involved installing these speakers where the originals were located. After lowering the windshield, finding I could not unbolt the rusted bolts across the top of the dash, I pried the lower part of the dash away and broke off the studs that mounted the factory speakers. (I did this with a 1'4" thick board and shallow hole near the end.) Then drilled new holes and mounted them with new bolts. Speakers work as expected, I'd probably do it again for the price I paid.

I've ordered this Sony head unit from Sonic Electronix.
I decided to install it on my Camry '03 myself. Watched few videos and got some tools and electric tape.
Installation:
Actually whole process took me a little more than an hour and provided free harness and dash kit were really handy.
At first the Dash Kit looked weak and didn't exactly match the car dash, but did its job well and after installing the head unit it drawn attention away from imperfections of the Dash Kit. After all i'm pretty happy with it.
Harness connection was super easy, all colors matched and I verified with my Camry's stereo's wiring diagram.
Appearance:
This colorful and stylish head unit definitely catches eye, carbon-like trip and overall look is awesome. A bunch of options to set up the color, separately for dash and screen! I change it ones in a while and gives a filling of a whole new stereo in your car!
Sound:
Few month before upgrading my stereo I've installed set of Pioneer speakers. I accidentally caught a good deal on those in a store and then could not stop.
So, back to our head unit. As soon as I turned it on I could feel tremendous gross of power and clarity of the sound comparing to Toyota's OEM stereo. You probably already have or considering getting a Subwoofer. So and I could not resist. You need it to feel the power of the sound this stereo can deliver to it. Sony offers so many setting to set up the sound perfect for your taste. MegaBass, EQ10, E.Clarity a bunch of presets, setting of position, crossover etc. This is something to learn and play with and get the most out of your stereo.
Functionality:
Everyone knows that it has Bluetooth, USB, Aux, Pre-Amps... but I will point out what I really appreciated and use everyday in my car.
This stereo is one of the kind, because it works with FLAC. This is a format of the high quality sound and easy to find online for free. When you upgrading your sound the imperfection of MP3 music becomes way more noticeable even if you not audiophile.
I got myself a mini thumb drive 128Gb for about $30. It's so small that I even forgot that it's there. I was worried about loading speed and it's just 2-5sec with the 50% load of the drive. I tried to plug in iPod Classic 6Gen with approximately same HD and load. It would take about 20 sec before it starts playing. Tiny USB drive is much cheaper and seamlessly plugged in to the stereo. Since this head unit doesn't have rear USB, with little flash drive there is no cables spoiling the look of this beautiful stereo.
Bluetooth Calling is extremely helpful feature. Most of the time my phone automatically connects to the stereo. It plays it's own ring tone. You can use a button on a stereo to answer and hang up the calls. External Mic. makes it easier to hear you during the phone conversation. And goes right back to your favorite tunes where you left 'em.
Pandora while playing on your phone connected thru the Bluetooth. You switch and like songs, brows stations, just like you going thru the folders on your USB drive.
It worth mentioning - removable front panel for theft protection. It more likely to detour thief from going into your car if you take the panel off ofcource.
I was using my new stereo from Sony for about a month and can't think of any Con's. Everything worked great from day one and it's just getting better as I load more music and playing with settings (there is a lot)!

Great sound at a bargain-basement price!

If you want to upgrade your head unit from the factory (base level) system, you can't beat this unit for the price. I put this unit in a 2003 Subaru Baja and the difference in what sounds you can now hear, versus what sounds were heard with the old unit, is nothing short of amazing. In short, the sound is crisp and clear from bass to high notes. Great bang for you're buck (if you're a true audiophile, you won't be reading this far down in the review any way)! For the "average Joe" car, this system was easy to install. Only negative (IMHO) is the face plate looks a little too juvenile; a simpler face plate (a/k/a plain) would add value. As other reviewers have stated, there are extra steps in going from one source to another; the inconvenience is minor. If you're like me, the radio is on an HD channel most of the time, and USB some of the time. Overall, I highly recommend this unit.Thank you Sonic!

well its no pioneer but for the price cant beat it all ready I had to reset the radio cuz the sub woofer output didn't work I thought it was the kicker amp then I thought it was the RCA jack but it was the radio Sony Mex-N5100BT I had to reset it but after that it does work so far but if goes out back to pioneer..... sony mex-n5100bt has good sound and the sound features are just ok yes u could use ur fone to operate but if u don't good luck haha

Great product!

I was honestly skeptical, but I bought it. And honestly, I love this radio deck, it's colorful and you can get creative. What's also nice is the subwoofer outputs, very easy install and still a lot cheaper than best buy.!

Too much stereo for the money

For the past about 15 years I have used Sony car stereos in my vehicles. It started with just the desire to have a Bluetooth and satellite radio capability. After installing my first one in 2002, I've stuck with Sony. I've installs at least four of them in my cars since. Easy to install, head unit power is pretty good with aftermarket speakers, remote control (that's compatible with all of my other cars) but the three sets of RCAs on the back, and the XM capabilities, leave expansion options wide open. This unit is loaded with too many features for me to use, honestly. Can't beat it for the price.
