Amazing little speakers!
I was looking for some nice looking 5 watt speakers for my room, and these fit the bill perfectly. They look very modern placed on either side of a desk, and the green indicator light on the front is not bothersome at all. Sound quality is great, and beats out my old 3 watt speakers by a longshot. I have the volume set on the speakers to ~80% and I think that's about as loud as I need them to be, since setting the volume to the max is never a good thing for the speakers or your ears!
Complaints? Well they're white, so dust is visible if you don't gently wipe them occasionally, and the two speaker units don't have rubber feet, so they kinda slide around sometimes on my wooden desk if i'm playing loud music. I'm taking one star off it's features because the volume dial is rather hard to turn unless you do it with your nails (or maybe my unit's dial is on a bit too tight?).
I'd definitely recommend these Sony speakers for a small room or a dorm. I always keep them plugged in so I wouldn't be able to say how long they last on batteries, but i'm sure they'd last quite a bit at low volume.
