Best value

This component set is great !! The crossovers ore the best part. They are Bi-ampable if you choose to use that feature. I am using a soundstream PN4.520D to power them using the Bi-ampable option. All I can say is wow!!! they are the best set of components I have used to date.

Amazing Speakers

Very surprised by the sound quality from a Sony Product. The Sony Gs Series speakers are the truth, and I would highly recommend them.

Great woofers

I didn't use the tweeters so my review only applies for the woofers.
I installed them on my 2011 CR-V, the stock speakers are a pure joke... worst car sound ever. With these sony and some adequate door panel treatment I now have super tight bass with lots of details in mids and low.

It doesn't go super low (I get some output down to 45Hz but -3dB point probably around 55Hz) but I wouldn't blame the woofers for sure. Still it's plenty low and there's enough bass to have a very nice flat response.

If you like super bass heavy stuff, add a subwoofer.
I used a tiny Clarion 4x50W amp which is plenty enough for me, and I drive these woofers from 20Hz up to 1kHz.

Also I replaced the back door speakers with some 4 Ohm model from Pats Express and I drive one front + one rear in parallel (so 2 Ohm). The Clarion amp can drive 75W into 2 Ohm and it works perfectly. The sound is really good at the front of the car and at the back it's not the best but a lots better than stock anyway.

PS: for the 2011 CR-V I used 1/2" spacers with acoustic dampening material (1/16" thick) and neoprene thin foam between the dampening and spacer, and also between the spacer and the speaker to seal everything properly. The clearance is good, it doesn't touch the window. Last step was to put thick closed cell foam (found at Home Depot) around the woofer surround, so it seals around the grille opening of the door trim.

does what is suppose to

I brought two sets of these components for the front high mid range stage of my Tahoe...mid bass is 2 grs 10s..I'm running them active so I'm not using the Sony crossover...it sound great.but the tweeter can be "peaky" at certain frequencies.. but the woofer is solid..

awesome components

I love the sound of them for the price point. I would recommend them. They had great low end just running off the deck without crossovers.

Excellent Sounding Speakers

I got these speakers on sale at Sonic Electronix to upgrade the factory speakers in my 2010 Subaru Outback.
During the install, I had to do a little work around to get them to fit into the Subaru speaker spacers instead of drilling new holes in all 4 doors. Also, the installation of the tweeters would have gone easier if one of tweeters wasn't missing the internal mounting threads (again not a show stopper, but extra time spent on a work around).
Once the speakers and the NVX Sound Dampening were installed, the speakers are a huge improvement to the factory speakers. I'm pushing them with an Alpine KPT-445U (4x45 W RMS). After only a week, the bass seems a little stiff, but I hope that will improve as the speakers break in. Overall sound clarity is outstanding and listening field within the car seems broader and more realistic. Bottomline: I'm glad I took the opportunity to purchase these speakers.

Sony XS-GS1720S

I bought these to go in my Nissan 300zx. I will be putting them in my doors. Right now I am waiting to get holes cut for the tweeters. I have tested them and they sound great. Thanks!
