Weak
Has good sound quality but no bump. If your looking for a small bass upgrade then i could maybe see getting these. Have 2 in my 4 door Grand Prix and it sounds super good but if you want bump then these aren't for you.

Great sub!
Great sub! Hits hard, feels well made and can keep up with heavier songs with a lot of double-bass drums. Great for the money!

Awesome Product
I purchased 2 of these products for my 1996 Dodge Neon and these subs are loud. People say Sony sucks but don't listen to them because with the right amp you can blow the competition away.....

Good bump for your buck :D
This is a great sub for the price. I installed 2 of these in my old '87 Ford Bronco and they bump. That was 6 months ago and they're still bumping hard. People think that just because Sony made them, they must suck. That's not the case here though... They rattle every inch of my bronco and since the '87 full size bronco is very spacy inside, the speakers fit cozily in the back. sound bounces around inside and it sounds very good.
I would recommend this sub to people who are barely buying their first system. or to somebody who wants something decent. You will be happy with what you paid for.

Amazing!!
I just installed these bad boys last night and they are amazing!! I was a little skeptical to buy these considering they were sonys but they had some great reviews and I decided to go for it. I had thunder mtx 5500s before these and they were good but these are a good bit louder. The lows from these subs are amazing and really pound compared to the MTXs which only vibrated on the lows and made noise with no thump. I did love the MTXs but I got them used and they blew. I already had bought a sony xplod amp, headunit, and 6 1/2s so I decided to go ahead and get some xplod subs. I also run my music off of my SONY PSP so I thought it would be pretty awesome to have all sony products. I love these subs and hope they don't end up disappointing me in the future, being a sony I doubt it.

Good sub sounds nice and deep
Very good Sony subwoofer. I put this in my 94 chevy cab on my trusty Punch 250.2 and this sub was slamming really hard. I got to say not a very bad sub at all for the price. Really did the trick. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for inexpensive bass. I give this a 10 out of 10. Good job Sony!

GREAT.
Believe me people, people can talk, talk and finally get tired and keep silent. My experience with all some major sub brands is that, all original subs sound great e.g Kenwood, Pioneer, Kicker, Alpine, JBL. The thing that differ is personal preferences on what type of bass to listen to. Now because of this reason I love all Sony subs because of their unique bass that is long range. No any other sub sound that can go far as Sony does with any amplifier. The truth is that some other subs may have more bass than some sony brands but still Sony subs have unique long range bass(simply loudest). Because of this reason Sony simply outdoes the other subs because even if you simply consider two cars parked, one with sony subs and the other with the other subs,(same sub watts and amplifier) believe me you may think that it is only the car with Sony subs singing because it will be louder. This applies to nearly all Sony sub brands beginning with Sony 1000 watts (xsl-120p5h upwards.
For example my friend had 1000 watts Kenwood sub which sounds great and loud and I had Sony 1000 watts (XSL-120P5H sub and another friend had pioneer 1000watts which also sounds great and loud. We did a test with the same amplifier , head unit and under the same song inside a room.Believe it or not sony was the loudest and even the sound bass was unique and even my friends far away in a field could turn their heads back when the sony was turned on.
Now I upgraded to sony xsl-124p5b which hits more harder, more bass and still the loudest as compared to the other sub- brands.Congrats to sony engineers.i even have a small amp in the house and still the sony sounds great even without an equalizer.Any sony sub above 1000 watts can do a great job.Try it.

GREAT SUB FOR THE MONEY
These sub's are great but took a bit to get them set up correctly. To get them to hit right at low hertz they needed poly fill in the box. I used the sonic 0.7 box 1/2 full of poly fill and am running them with a fosgate R500.1 For the money I could not ask for more.

GREAT BASS FOR PRICE
Almost went for Fosgate, friend talked me into the Sonys, good friend, saved money, able to take power from punch 400

It rocks !!!
Great speaker at a great price. Enough volume and bass to disable the use of the rear view and side view mirrors.

bass boy
Had it in my hatchback sounded good then I put a 600 watt amp on it now it sounds like crap I would recommend the red Xplods had one and loved it made my rear view mirror do dances

good price
Lasted for a 5 months after straight pounding every day. had a 760 pioneer bridged that was pounding the speaker. then bought a 1500 watt Audiopipe amp which pounded this thing 3 times as hard. surprised it lasted for a month of steady pushing. Dont over power it!!! great sub for the price

awesome sub
hits really low - i don't play it really loud, so if that's your thing, i wouldn't know - but if you want great music reproduction at reasonable levels, i don't think you can beat the sound or the price of this sub.

Ok...
This speaker hits pretty good for the price but you can get a Pioneer for the Same price and it is way better!

Great speakers for the money
I bought two of these for cheap and I got more than my moneys worth. I had these subs in a ported box in the trunk of my car with a 2400 watt Lanzar amp and they hit so hard they blew my box apart. I had to reseal it twice. these are awesome subs for the cost.

Really good for the price
I've had 2 of these subwoofers for about 4 months now and have had no problems whatsoever. At first I had an old Clarion head unit with a sony xplod amp and they sounded pretty good and loud, but not great. Now I have upgraded to a Pioneer Premier DEH-490iB which I bought from here at sonicelectronix. They sound really good now with the same 2x 165w RMS sony xplod amp. For the price, they are a lot better than I expected. Loud and clear, after a while it really hurts your ear drums when they are in a correctly sized and ported box. My truck's back window, the mirrors on the doors and some other parts of the truck rattle now when I turn it up.

Starter Sub
I use to have a pair of these hooked up to an old style 1200 watt Rockford Fosgate amp, it sounded good, until I upgraded my amp to an 1800 watt and melted through them. These subs took a beating, but couldn't stand up to my new amp. I would recommend these subs only to someone just starting out that doesn't have a whole lot of money to burn.

this is a very good sub it hits hard and will be good for a first set of subs. when u turn it up really loud it sounds kinda of distorted. i had 2 12 in in a banpass box with a 1000 watt sony amp and was very good in a small car.

Great subs for the money
I bought these subs in a sony package and i was amazed at the quality. They came in a sealed box which really hit hard, these subs are a great deal just pair them up with the sony amp and a decent box and your all set. I had one of the loudest subs in town and could be heard blocks away until someone jacked them. These subs are completly worth it.

I got two of these monsters in a bandpass box one cubic foot per chamber (recommend 0.77) but it feels like my heads gonna explode and most of my friends cant sit in the back seat and my wife knows when im on my way home she said she hears me coming great sub for the money.

exellent value
put two of these 12" woofers in my ford probe they get very loud and fairly deep. but not as deep as some high excursion woofers with an x-max of only 6mm. they do get down there about 30 hz which is good for all types of music. tech wise they have double sided magnets and an edge wound voice coil mostly used by hi-end manufactures such as focal and a few others. the only drawback for me is the screw on terminals which tend to get loose after heavy hitting.

There are many better alternatives.
I picked these up because I needed a cheap pair of subs for a friend's car, and he insisted on Sony when we were at B*** B**. We ended up taking them out and now they're sitting in my room. Obviously, being Sony, I didn't expect any SPL beyond making the seats in his Dodge Calibur vibrate a bit, but I was hoping for as least acceptable SQ. Nada. We tried running them off a Sony Xplod 1000.2 amp and off the VA Audio VAAM1600 I recommend to most of my friends looking to start off a system. They barely hit at all on the 200RMS each from the Sony amp (which was to be expected, at half their rated power) and I was afraid they were going to rip when I put 400RMS each to them with the VAAM1600. I was hoping after a one-week warm-up period at 50% they would be able to handle the better amp, but even then they were distorted and starting to sound like his older, blown out pair.
For what a pair of these costs, go out and buy a single 12" Alpine Type-R or spend a little more for a pair of Alpine Type-S's. You'll get about five times the volume, ten times the sound quality, and they'll last about 4 times as long.
I must admit though, these are more stylish than the Memphis, Magnum, Digital Audio, and other trash subs a few of my friend's have brought to my doorstep asking me to find an upgrade to. However, looks are hardly a reason to buy anything in car stereo, as the guy I bought these for has finally admitted.

X-Blows
I have two of these in my truck powered by an alpine 250-2 amp. They are ok for your first set of subs. They hit pretty hard and are fairly loud. But once I turn the volume up, the amp shuts off. These are ok, but i'm upgrading to 2 15 inch orions.

Good sounding sub but can't take a lot of abuse
I've melted through two of these so far, they are great sounding sub woofers and they hit hard but if you play them at too high of a level for too long the voice coil will melt out of them and they;ll just cause excessive stress on your amp and even cause fuses to blow. I recommend pushing less than the maximum rms wattage into these and you shouldnt have a problem. Like i said, great sounding sub but definitely not competition grade or anything like that.

nasty bump
all i can say is clean hard nasty bump these subs r worht the money. with the right box they will rattle ure trunk off. i now need to buy dynomat for my trunk so i dont crack my spoiler.

Not recomended
I dont recommend these subs i had them for about 5 months and they blew out on me everything was professionally hooked up so no connection problems would interfere with my opinion they never really hit that hard either if you want little bang and cheap speakers they would be the way to go

Sony X-plods the thumps in my eX-plorer:)
These 12's are so fresh & so clean, I used to roll & thump Cerwin Vega's in the old school, but what can I say,it's a whole new world with these badboys...

Good budget subs
These subs are are pretty raw especially for the price I mean they ain't no kicker L7s but these will pound! My friend has them and they got all the frequency's in the bass test song he played

simply awesome
I hooked this up and at first there was no noise at all. messed with all the knobs and volumes and after they must have warmed up they scared the hell out of me with the sheer volume of what they put out.
after some tuning 2 of these hooked up at 750W RMS sounds beautiful

It was decent need a better amp apparently
I bought two of these for My 2001 Celica and have a Jensen VM9312 head unit and they don't seem to hit very hard at all with my 1200 watt xplod amp, I hear that a new amp would be good. The only downside is the Single Voice Coil, they are good for the price I got.

this is a good bass product
i have this set up on my sony xplod amp and this thing really deliver that extra bass to your system

Nice price to nice sound
If you want to pay less for a nice sound this is your choice. I have two with a Sony Amp of 900 RMS and it rocks throughout.

Resonably alright.
They hit alright in smaller cars, but if you have a larger sudan or SUV I would go with something better. They throw themselves really hard for a less then impresive thump.

sub
This is the sub I have in the back of my explorer and it thumbs harder than any sub ive owned. Im telling you put this in a ported box with a powerful amp and it will blow your ears out.

Decent subs.
I have had these for about 4 months and they sound ok. They dont really hit as hard as i would like them to but thats why i just ordered some new audiobahn subs to replace these. Eventually i will buy another amp and put the sonys back in but until then they will be sitting in my garage. I wouldnt recomend these subs but for the money theyre a pretty good deal.

Really good buy!!!
I bought a pair of these 12" xplod subs for 100 bucks, hooked them to a Xplod XM-ZZR3301 Amp in a sealed box running 600 watts RMS. Total was $100 for both subs $100 for the box and $148 for the Xplod amp. So $350. I couldn't be happier with this system. considering the system in my other car is two JL Audio 12W3v3-4 powered buy a TMA T1000.1 just one JL W3v3 cost $409. So for a fraction of the cost of my other system this is one wicked slamming stereo. Don't waste your money buying name brand stereos go for the budget build you wont be disappointed. Way to go SONY. and I never use to like Xplod before I bought this system

good sub
One of my friends has this sub cornered in a neon. It pounds that little car away and it truelly hits as low is 20 hrtz on the woofer excursion test. Over all its a great sub with a really clean sound but for the money there are louder subwoofers out there.

Loud
My friend runs 1 of these hooked to a kenwood ran, he runs 300 RMS and this thing beats nicely. I would not recommend this sub to anyone serious in the Bass game, doesn't compare to JL or Rockford, but for this price not bad. DO NOT HOOK TO BIG AMPS!!!

not very good =(
these subs are not very good, way too overated buy you do get what yo pay for

great sone
i bought one of these for my girlfriends car simply because i had the older model(red) and loved how it sounded in my car. for what you pay for its a great buy and in a big box all my friends thought there were to in there. downside is they don't realy make a grill for this thing. i put a sony 600w amplifier and it has no problem vibrating all the panels- giving a great message lol

They hit hard at 2.7 ohms
They hit hard...... I have 3 wired parallel Boring them down to 2.7 stable ohms on a BOSS Elite be1500.1 monoblock 2-8 ohms stable capable. They are run off an Eincar 6.2 Dbl din deck with Bose 5 1/2” interior door speakers. Can’t turn it up past 8.
Sony 12 inch
Sub works good for the money. It's not an RE or Fosgate but it does more than you would expect with "proper wattage " and a sealed cabinet. pretty loud, real clear, good entry level sub woofer. If you really wanna turn heads get 3 wire them down to 1.33 ohms and hit em with 1000wts rms @ 1ohm. in a sealed cabinet. Break them in " SLOWLY " enjoy!

Love It!
It was money well spent. I've owned one before and I've known many other people that have the same one I do and they think very highly of the product too. My last one lasted for about 3 and a half years and that's with pushing it to the max every time it was used. All-in-all, it was a good buy!

Great Subs
My friend has 2 of these in his SUV, and they are intense; he is pretty rough on them and they've recently hit the 1 year mark and are still going strong; while there are better subs out there these are awesome for the cost, highly recommended.

good for a sony xplod
This is a very good sub for the price. I like to stick to Rockford Fosgate but i wanted to try something different, so my friend suggested Sony Xplod. I have a 12 hooked up to a 130 watt amp in my room, i just ordered a boxed single 12 got it for 24 bucks. But this sub can hit the highs and the lows, i was very surprised. I give this sub 2 thumbs up.
