Pleasant Surprise
Needed a replacement for a blown old school Orion 275sx used on a 6.5" component set. I looked for a class AB with similar power and good specs. This amp seemed to fit the bill and it was inexpensive to boot. After install and retuning, I was pleasantly surprised! I didn't think the sound quality would match the old Orion, but I was wrong. I think it might be better! I don't think it's making as much power as the old one, but the Orion was probably just underrated.
The only negative I will give is in the build quality. The gain and crossover pots, the switches and the RCA jacks seem cheap and flimsy. There was also a little noise in the left channel when adjusting the gain pot. Also, the mounting feet are plastic, so be careful when mounting it. I doubt this amp will last as long as the Orion did, but the Orion cost a whole lot more than $65 in 1990!
