Redonculously Simple to use

The hardest thing about installing the VFT-6 was getting the power wires hooked up in the trunk. I mounted it on a sheetmetal platform under the rear shelf so the VFT-6 would have a short, direct line of sight to the FM antenna buried in the rear window. This also keeps it out of direct sunlight. Hookup was easy with the right cables from the MP3 player.

There are NO installation instruction, but all you have to do is hook up power (I used a switch to turn it off in case you want to listen to the radio station on the selected frequency) , plug in the audio input from the 'line out' jack of the MP3 player, select one of 3 frequencies on the box (In my case 88.9 MHz), tune to that on the FM radio and turn on the MP3 player. After that, just listen. Even with a relatively strong signal from a nearby radio station, the VFT-6 out-powered that signal and the MP3 music came in just fine.

There is some sonic quality loss, but in our case it's primarily used for books on tape on long trips, so for voice it's just fine.

Much simpler to use than the portable units that have to tune a transmit frequency that must be matched on the radio tuner. The VFT-6 is plug in, turn on, play music.

But Sonic doesn't carry it any more, so maybe there are some units elsewhere.
