Surprisingly good

This thing sounds surprisingly good; unlike most of the decks i've bought in the past few years, it actually sends a decent amount of bass to the speakers if configured to do so.

The remote is pretty intuitive, only thing is, it could use some larger/more distinctive volume buttons.

The call quality via bluetooth is pretty good, and with the mic attached to the gauge cluster, the other side was able to hear me from any seat in the car, even facing away from it. They weren't able to tell the difference between engine off and idling (and this was in a diesel jetta), but they would be able to hear it when revving.

It seriously puts my 550 dollar Kenwood i have in the truck to shame, at half the price. The install was a pain in the butt but mainly because of the car - the fit was ridiculously tight, and needed a can-bus interface to make it work. Stupid german cars.

Woops

The following review is for a previous version (DTS-660W).

Looks great, never worked right. Gps died after 6 months. Could never get Xm to work. Bought two different tuners. One that Sonic recommend , and one that Valor did. Lots of alternator noise even after changing wire routing twice. Can't get the Bluetooth to work with any of our phones. I bought this after researching gps/DVD/sat tuners, and thought it was the best bang for my buck. Boy was I wrong. Guess there is a reason that I had never heard of Valor prior to this purchase.
I am truly sorry that I purchased this. I got it to make my wife's life easier. Well once again I failed her.

Almost perfect

Unit is nearly the perfect all-around stereo. I only had two disappointments:

1) It doesn't load the phonebook from my phone. I still have to use the phone to pick the person I want to call, so the unit is not entirely hands-free.
2) When using the SD Card slots or a USB key for MP3s, the unit does not remember that I had the play mode set to "Random" then next time I start the car. It remembers the the exact spot in the same song, but then it starts playing them sequentially instead of randomizing them.

Otherwise, this unit is great. Easy to set up, easy to connect my phone, and the installer had no trouble hooking it up (I paid a professional installer). It looks and sounds great in my dash.

It drives the Shaker 500 system in my '05 Mustang just fine (I can shake the windows with bass...).

Some reviewers on other sites have said the unit is not bright enough, but I do not agree. This unit has several brightness settings, and the brightest setting works fine in direct sunlight.

Exceptional Value!

The following review is for a previous version (DTS-660W).

I purchased the Valor DTS-660W for my Toyota Sequoia and it was a direct fit. No dash mods needed. OEM brackets bolt right onto this Valor unit. The sound is much better than the stock JBL stereo with this powerful valor unit. Picture is fantastic and far better than the $200 china/hong kong units. Blue toothe works fabulous. 3 remotes are a huge bonus! Night time dimming could be lower, but you can turn the screen off. I lucked out and found an older Sat. tuner box on Ebay for $70 bucks... Otherwise you may not be able to directly recieve Sat. reception with this unit. I am very happy with this unit for just $400 dollars. Sonic threw in the factory harness. All was plug and play. I believe Valor makes the OEM Toyota models and Eclipse models. My antenna goes up/down when the radio/tuner is turned on, just like the OEM unit. Dual zone works well. I listen to satelite while the kids watch a movie. The rear seat remote lets them control the dvd! A+

Great product for the price.

The following review is for a previous version (DTS-660W).

Product works as advertised. No problems that I have noticed. I got this paired with a Lanzar 4000 watt amp and a couple of Kickers. It sounds absolutely amazing. The integrated bluetooth is definitely a nice addition to this unit - no external boxes or microphones to get unplugged. The GPS works great. (with ValorNav-2). Overall a solid product with tons of upgrade options. The only thing it does not offer is HD radio, but with satellite radio you really don't need it.

Poor customer service

The following review is for a previous version (DTS-660W).

I've had a Valor DTS-660W headunit installed since August 2008. Since then (19 months), I've had two iPod cables short out on me. Valor customer service wants to blame me for incorrect usage and refuses to replace the cable. Not sure how someone can "incorrectly use" an iPod cable. Too bad, because the headunit functionality is pretty good, but I don't believe Valor will stand behind their product.
