Viper 4704V

Installed this remote start system on a Lexus SC430.

This is a sophisticated, fully featured system, designed to be installed by a professional installer. There is no full Install Guide included with the product, just a two sided Quick Install Guide sheet, which does not completely explain the actual use and function of the wires and
programming. DEI, the manufacturer, will not provide Tech Support to DIYers.

I needed a system that included "Comfort Closure" and multiple AUX outputs that could be programmed to a specific time duration ( to open and close the convertible top ). These advanced programming features required the BitWriter programming tool, a separate $70 item.

The install went smoothly but took many hours. The Bitwriter made programming and fine tuning a breeze. Remember that most newer vehicles will require a transponder bypass module that is an additional module not included with this unit.

While the system has only been in for two weeks, the performance has been flawless. My wife enjoys the ability to start the car from a very long distance to get the auto climate control going, then dropping the top as she approaches, if the weather is good. The two-way remote provides command confirmation, a run time countdown timer, displays the cars internal temperature and it uses an internal rechargeable battery.

Overall, I am impressed with the systems performance and it's ability to be customized with all the available programming options. There are other brands that are as reliable but few with as many features. This system ( 4704V ) does not include alarm functions - only remote start, lock & unlock, trunk release, defrost output and the 4 programmable AUX outputs.

I would recommend this system to only the more capable / experienced DIY installers due to the lack of documentation and manufacturer support.

Great remote starter at a good price

The Viper 4704v is a good value. The range, line of sight, is very good at 1.1 miles. The antenna seems to work best when mounted up higher on the windshield, even when the blue tint is present. The remote start includes a lot of available options, in particular, defroster output, which automatically activates when the temperature is cold and the vehicle is remote started. The virtual tach seems to work very well. The blue LED on the antenna is very bright, and flashes whenever the system is locked, luckily not when you're driving.

Best investment ever!!!

I have owned this remote starter for 6 months. It works great, it has great range. During the hot summer months it gets the car nice and cold and in the winter my car is nice and warm. It never failed me once. For the price it's a great starter . I would recommend it.

Another reliable product

Does exactly what is says. The only criticism I have is they still overstate the range. You'll never get a mile, but a half mile is pretty well to be expected.
Bottom line: I'd buy it again and I'd recommend anyone else to it as well.
