Just Installed

Just installed this in an 03 Nissan Pathfinder LE. Needed to use the larger adaptor poles that came with the kit. Interior match (Black) is far better than I expected! Installation is pretty straight-forward for the average DIY'r. (The cheapest installation estimate I received was $200, so I recommend spending $30 on material and going to work!) TIP: Connect the wires outside the car to first see how they all go together. You'll need a crimper, wire crimps, fuse tap and connector for power, speaker wire for power (I used 18g), and a wire tap for tapping into the the headrest power supply. I also replaced the cheap connectors with better ones. Oh..., don't try following the instructions! They're a rough translation from Japanese to English, VERY ROUGH! There were lots of misspelled words and sentence fragments that went nowhere! Some of the illustrations are helpful, so take this project on when you have a couple of hours to devote to it.

Video quality is pretty good for price paid. The slave unit will still play with the master unit turned off (The DVD-ROM drive runs). Sound quality through the included FM Modulator is, at best, poor. It's also not great through wireless headphones (not included), but I'll be testing this again with a better pair,... after I purchase them! They sound better through ear buds, using the 3.5mm jack, but the volume doesn't go high as expected....though it should be fine for a 3-year old!
The two separate remotes were not necessary (You'll mostly use the larger one!)

Overall, this is a decent unit. Carefully plan your installation, and take your putting it all together. I have yet to know how the system will hold-up over time, but overall I am satisfied with this budget product. I gave "Durability" a "3" because I'm not sure how long the system will hold-up! Oh,...SD and USB are nice options to have, but I have not yet tested those.
