Pay a little extra and upgrade, its worth it

The price on this was great but the unit wasn't so great. The interface was very boring with no options. The ipod hook up just gives you a blue screen, the cd player doesn't even say Track Numbers it just shows a the XO Vision Logo. The touch screen is very limited and doesn't seem to always work right away. I returned mine and paid a little extra for a Kenwood... Well worth the extra money.

you get what you pay for

Yes, this thing is loaded with features, but none of them work as well as they should. The sound quality is nice, but there is very little control over anything except bass and treble. The user interface is tacky, and looks like it was made from clip art, the touch screen is unresponsive, and even with the ipod connection cable, all you get when you hook up an ipod is a VERY bright blue screen, which is nerve racking if you are driving at night. So, just a heads up. I returned mine.

I love this thing!

Great picture for DVDs. SD card reader works well. Plenty of AUX inputs (need to run your own RCA cables). Bluetooth really impressive; sound quality of MP3 through the A2DP technology is nice. Radio tuner pulls in more channels (and better sound) than the factory Ford stereo. Plenty loud as well. I was skeptical to buy such an inexpensive unit, however, it was money well spent. When you install, make sure and seperate your wires and shield them. I did this and I do not get any noise or whine that is associated with many after market stero installs. Perhaps the only critisicm that is warranted is the UI. The icons are a bit 1980s Mac-like, but they work when you touch them. If HCI is your priority, then you should look further. Also, for some reason, XO Vision stopped putting the TV tuner in their latest model (XOD1742BT). It would have been really nice to have that tuner as well on this model.

awesome product period

very easy to install with the kits already included. I watch DVD crystal clear and the built in blue tooth, always have hands on the wheel I would recommend this product to anyone.

Rich

The following review is for a previous version (XOD1736).

well I installed this unit in my Ford Explorer 2004 the does what it says....mostly the controls are a bit confusing but works fine after some tweaking. the touch screen response with a delay overall the unit works OK for the price. And also you have to notch the bottom of the panel under the unit it overlaps.

Great Buy at a great price: by MjLeX

The following review is for a previous version (XOD1730).

I purchased this piece at a great price not really knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the results. The picture quality is sensational, with user friendly controls. I love the touch screen feature that the monitor has. It reads dvd's, mp3's, and even has an SD memory card slot on the side when you eject a cd. That is a real nice feature that isn't mentioned, but a nice surprise. the sound quality isn't the best, but it's nothing an EQ can't fix. I'm really satisfied with my purchase, considering that I payed much less than most other units with the same features. I like the sleek design of the unit, monitor looks beautiful. Sits nicely in my car, and looks factory like it came with the car. I am a satisfied customer!

So Far So Good

The following review is for a previous version (XOD1730).

This is a good system for the money. I give the display 8 out of 10, and the sound quality 7 out of 10. I find the remote and touch screen to be acceptable, but in need of improvement. It does play DivX and MP3 files as advertised. Also, not mentioned in the specifications, or manual is an SD Card reader that supports video, audio, and picture files. Its TV tuner is a little clunky, and does not support manual saving of TV stations. Overall, it does provide more features, and better performance than I expected in a unit at this price range.

Good value for the money.

If your looking for an inexpensive, touchscreen radio/dvd player/etc. Then I would recommend this product.
Very good price. Useful Bluetooth and mic adapter. Plays HD dvd's well. Comes with remote and many extra useful features it can do IF your car has a bunch of bells and whistles (e.g. rear view camera, amp, etc.). The system plays music loud and clear (of course depending on your speakers somewhat to). Haven't tried the GPS yet.

All in all I would recommend this product for its price. But be prepared for some boring interface screens and some glitches now and then.

Great Product!!!

This product has gone above and beyond my expectations. I was skeptical not buying a big brand but in the end I've been very pleased. There are a few quirks and things I wish were a bit different but overall a great buy. Took me a minute to figure out how to use the thing properly but had it figured out pretty quick.

Fitment is the issue

The following review is for a previous version (XOD1735).

I purchased this unit for my 2007 Scion tC. According to all the documentation on the site and on the unit it should have fit my car. Well it didn't. Yes, it mounted with the factory hardware without issue, the wiring harness made the install a breeze, but when I went to put my waterfall (The center console in a tC, the radio compartment has a door also) it would not clear the unit. The reason being the faceplate extends past the chasis of the unit on the bottom about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. with the faceplate extended I was able to get the console on, but the faceplate would not close flat anymore. So yes, theoreticly it "FIT" the car, but it needs to be stated somewhere thet it will not clear the opening on the console of a Scion tC. The unfortunate part is that the unit itself, while testing it before trying to put the dash back on, seemed pretty solid. I scored only the appropriate catagories with scores higher than "1" due to my experience with the unit not being complete.

Don't bother

The following review is for a previous version (XOD1736).

If you're considering buying this unit then my strong advice to you is to find something else. Here's why. The "touchscreen" is unresponsive. Sometimes you have to tap something several times to get it to work. The interface is absolutely horrible, especially one that controls mp3 playback. Think MS-DOS in distorted green color. Screen resolution leaves much to be desired so if you were planning to watch DVDs with it you won't plan to do that again after you actually watched one. The controls are impossible to use combined with unresponsive touchscreen made especially true while driving. And if you press one too many buttons it's gonna hang and require restart. There's no night dimmer so it's gonna blind the hell out of you at night. Contrary to what the box says there's no iPod interface, so usb port is completely useless as it won't even charge your cellphone. It has no cuztomization features at all and very few audio and video adjestments. Only two months after I bought it I decided to replace it and took it out of my dashboard long before it's replacement as gaping hole in my dashboard seemed a better alternative to having this unit there. Even thought about putting my old tape deck back. That gives you some idea how much I liked this unit. I've found almost no pros to it aside from it's price. But after all you get what you pay for.
