My sound dampening mat isn't sticking properly. How can I fix this?

Surface prep is key. Clean the metal with denatured alcohol first. For a permanent bond, use an NVX SDRLR1 roller to press the butyl into the pores of the metal and remove air.

I installed the kit but still hear rattles from my door. What did I do wrong?

Rattles happen if the mat isn't fully fused to the metal. Ensure 100% contact. If issues persist, add a second layer of NVX SDSK2 or check for loose factory clips.

Is it necessary to use a heat gun for the installation to work?

No, but it helps. NVX SDSK2 is thick (90mil) and more flexible when warm. A heat gun makes it easier to mold around curves, ensuring a tighter, more effective seal.

The material is too thick and I’m struggling to cut it. Any tips?

Since it's a heavy 90mil, use a sharp utility knife on the foil side. For the cleanest cuts and safest install, we recommend using the NVX stainless steel utility knife.

Will this kit cover my entire trunk if I'm experiencing heavy rattling?

This kit is for two doors. For trunk rattles caused by subs, you need more mass. Upgrade to the NVX SDTK20 Trunk Kit for 20 sq. ft. of the same premium 90mil material.

Nice Wiring Kit

This is a nice quality kit at a fair price. It had everything that was needed to complete the task.

Easy to use, good performance!

We used this in conjunction with a component speaker upgrade to a 2003 VW Passat. This material is simple to use (if you can work scissors and peel off adhesive backing, you can handle this stuff!), and you can easily cut it to any size or shape to fit your particular vehicle. Installing this material was the easiest part of our whole car audio upgrade project!

Nvx = quality at the best price.

I'm so happy with all my NVX products. They are always the best in quality and price. No smell and if it's not a lot you can apply it without a roller. (I used my hands and the back of a screw driver to really smooth it out)
