Great Headphones
Purchased the HD 598 headphones after using the HD-555 for some time. The 598 is a clear step up in audio performance. Not an huge fan of the appearance, but headphones are not a fashion statement for me.

Great Headphones
I bought these to replace my HD 448s. The overall sound these things put out is great. I got a bigger head and they sit just right on my head, not too loose or tight. I run them off my home AV receiver 99% of the time but they also sound great and get plenty loud from the Mp3 Player.
This is my sixth pair of Sennheiser headphones and by far my favorite.

Sennheiser HD598 Headphones
I liked the looks of these phones the second I saw them. You really do forget that you're wearing them and many times I'd get up to do something and realize I was still tethered. They are not tight enough to dance with unless your geriatric. Even though they're not broken in yet, the sound quality is far and away better than any other phones I've owned. The bass is present not strident, the treble never saturates and the midrange is silky but extremely defined. Familiar tracks take on a new dimension with greater separation and depth of field because of the open air design. They sound great on my iPad but really show off their pedigree when hooked to serious audiophile equipment. I've always respected Sennheiser over the years and even though these are made in China and not Germany, they still have a passion for sound.
