My 4 yr old Kenwood died. I was looking for a unit with BT and 3 pre amp outputs for the old configuration, the amps,SW etc. Once I figured the unit out by disabling the SW since I have one the receiver sounds great. The App remote with the equalizer is fantastic. The BT range has a 100' range, that's amazing. Make sure you buy the right remote RM-X11, which Sonic for some reason doesn't carry. I also installed a remote USB, you will need that to utilize the remote app you download on your phone. I Highly recommend this receiver.

In-Dash Receiver Specifications
Single DIN: 1 DIN dimensions will work with all single DIN installation kits we have to offer. Single DIN radios are the most common size for after-market stereos.
Single DIN slot with flip-out screen: The DIN stereo includes a retractable, flip-out screen. Before purchasing, make measurements to be sure there is no interference with dash accessories such as A/C vents or shift levers.
Single DIN slot with a larger face: Standard single DIN size, but the display is larger then the standard single DIN size. Due to the nature of the larger face, problems may arise when installing in particular vehicles. These stereos are great for single DIN slots where you want a larger screen.
1.5 DIN: This size is very uncommon in vehicles, however this size opening is most commonly found in Chrysler and Chevrolet vehicles.
Double DIN: Approximately 4-inches in height, this size is becoming more common every year. Prior to 2000, this size was typically only found in Japanese vehicles such as those made by Honda or Toyota. Now, it is becoming more popular for many vehicles to be fit with a Double DIN opening.
Detachable / Removable faceplate security: The most common anti-theft feature. It allows you to take the faceplate with you, thus disallowing operation, which deters theft.
Security Codes: Mainly a feature in high end video units which do not have a detachable face / screen. Once the unit is uninstalled (or stolen), a security code (or PIN) is required upon reinstallation. Though you no longer have your unit after the theft, the thief also does not have your security code, which makes the unit useless. The hope is the thief knows which units have security codes and he/she chooses not to steal your unit because of the security code.
Ghost technology: This is not commonly used, but can be found primarily in a select number of 2004-2005 head units. It creates an illusion that no unit is installed by appearing completely black when turned off. Potential thieves may steer clear because it appears as though no head unit is installed.
Anti-theft covers: Similar to ghost and hiding faces because they only create an illusion that the face/unit is not in place.
ESN: Stands for Electronic Serial Number. Allows the disabling of the radio and allows tracking if it is stolen.
Some manufacturers display peak power ratings on the face of their products to increase the appeal to consumers. The RMS power rating is more accurate, and we recommend using it for product comparison.
Dot-Matrix Text Display: A simple display which uses dots in specific illuminated color(s) to light up and form letters or numbers that are displayed on the receiver.
Graphic or Motion Display: Typically found in mid to high-end receivers and give your text information and receiver more life by adding motion, backgrounds, or multiple colors to your display. There are types of graphic displays such as 3D Graphic, Motion, and OEL (Organic Electroluminescent) displays. They can range from one color to full color displays and typically allow you to select from one of many built-in animations, background images, screensavers or other graphics to enhance your experience and add an extra bit of personality to your system. Some units also come with software that allow you to load your own customizable pictures or animations.
LCD Monitor Display: Can be as small as 2" or as large as 10". Some LCD displays are motorized for angle adjustment. LCD monitors display full motion video playback as well as your standard text such as track status, radio station information and more depending on the receiver's features.
Multi-Color: When more than one color is on the display, for example one part of the text is white, while the other part is blue.
Variable-Color: The display colors can be changed by the user. If the default color of text/display is blue for example, the user can change the settings to where the color turns to red. Variable color displays are typically described in detail in the item's description.
TFT-LCD Display: In-dash receivers with a video screen that display multiple colors and often times video such as DVD, navigation or other video sources.
- RMS Power
- Signal-to-Noise Ratio
This rating applies to both external car amplifiers, as well as the amplifiers inside of in-dash stereos.
RCA Composite Inputs
These are your typical red, white, and yellow RCA composite cables that are common among devices with audio and video inputs. The red and white cables are dedicated for audio. The red cable is for the right channel and the white is for the left channel. The yellow cable is specifically for the video signal. Because this type of auxiliary cable contains 2 channels of audio, it will support stereo sound.
This is commonly referred to as a mini-jack or a headphone jack. It is a 3.5mm plug that transfers audio only. There is a right and left audio channel on the plug which allows for stereo sound playback.
3.5mm AV Input
These plugs look similar to the common 3.5mm mini-jack, however they carry a third channel dedicated for video.
This means that an auxiliary input is possible, but only with the use of an optional accessory. These optional adapters will sometimes use the CD Changer port or other port on the back of a unit that might restrict the use of other expandability features. These accessories are typically sold separately.
If "Yes", then the aftermarket stereo is compatible with steering wheel remote controls. If an additional accessory is required for the steering wheel controls to work properly, a compatible piece will be listed.
Some Car stereos are compatible with iPods and/or iPhones. If the headunit can connect to an iPod or iPhone via USB or iPod connection cable, these listed iPods are compatible. This list does not apply if the iPod is being connected through the 3.5mm mini-jack plug. Newer iPods are usually compatible if the appropriate adapters are purchased and used.
Any iPods/iPhones released after the release date of this product have not been checked by the manufacturer and/or Sonic Electronix for compatibility. We therefore cannot guarantee their compatibilities or incompatibilities, including, but not limited to: playback, video, charging, and response time.

I waited a bit to post a review as I wanted to get out on the water with it. After 3 times out, I figured out all the functions as the manual is a good start but doesn't expain everything. USB thumbdrive works good as well as ipod interface. The deck can take over all the features or you can hit a few buttons so you can control everything from the Ipod itself. (it can get cumbersome trying to go back, scroll, and select from the deck itself while a song is playing).
I love the 3 pre-outs as I had 3 channels with front rear and bass. Setting up bluetooth was fairly simple and pandora worked great.

Bought this to instal in the fairing of my Harley. The display is easily viewed in direct sunlight. The controls are user friendly and the front USB is perfect. The rear outputs are great for the amp hook up. Makes fantastic sound at 80 mph. Installed 3 others in motorcycles. Best marine unit ever. SONIC SERVICE IS EXCELLENT!!!!

I've gone though many units before. There are 3 things I always look for.
1. Built in Bluetooth
2. Rear USB (Front optional)
3. Aux Port
This unit delivered. It has front AND rear USB free, not like most that have both but have a Bluetooth adapter attached to either one.
If you have a usb with a lot of songs that are organized in folders then it is tricky to navigate your folders with this unit but once you get used to the album system its fairly easy.
Sound quality is great, although a bit quite as this was installed in a 19' bow rider paired with Kenwood KFC-1653 Speakers.
The remote is the same remote Sony has been using for a while now, a new feature APP Remote V2 is also available. People with smart phones download the app (IOS/Android) and can change song, source, options. Straight from the phone via Bluetooth, although if you are steaming via Bluetooth audio then the app remote will not work.
Overall I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants the most bang for their buck, lots of features and robust keys make this a must for people looking for a high quality marine headunit.

Good radio for the boat, wish they had a way to keep station memory with out draining battery. Love the Pandora with the iPhone, charges while being used. Was concerned about data use but it seems reasonable, we use it for hours at a time.

This stereo is what I expected plus more. Went through 4 cheap stereos last summer that were not marine. I hope this one stands up. This stereo cost the same as the 4 cheap one I ruined by getting rained on.

I installed one of these Sony marine radios on my deck to drive several outdoor speakers in our yard on a lake. My wife has picked up how to use the unit and pairing an iPhone to it with ease. It's weather resistant too, so I decided to get another one for my Odes UTV. Installed easily in my single din slot and looks great. Paired with a Lanzar amp and Rockford Fosgate M282B-Wake speakers and I have the biggest, baddest stereo I could want. I would recommend the Sony to anyone wanting a weather resistant unit for outdoor use.

Product works well on my bike. Will see if it still works in 6-9 months. Had another brand and had to have it repaired under warranty after 6 months and completely died just after the warranty ran out. Hope this one last longer. Due to being on a bike it has to put up with a lot.

If you have a Smartphone, this stereo head unit is bad ass. I have Spotify. It integrates perfectly. Take time and READ the manual. There are may features to set up. It has volume balancing and cross over features that work well with my sub and speakers. The eq is easily controlled on the Phone App. So it adjusting the volume setting for each speaker and all the speakers. You can also adjust the sub volume from your phone.
I did not use the built in power and went with 2 Sony amps and an amplified sub.
On my Malibu boat, the stereo is mounted below your elbow and not very easy to get at. Besides the phone, you can add a wired remote (this I have on order).
Overall, very impressed with the features and sound quality for the money.

I bought this radio to replace my stock head unit on my 08 Ultra Classic. The radio has all the features I was looking for. The Bluetooth synchs easily to my phone, and the screen is easy to see while riding during sunny days. I received my order quickly without any problems.

Your Price $12.99
Great for connecting your car stereo wires to the harness.
Your Price $4.99
So after all that, the replacement I had purchased early on in this fiasco sounds and works fantastic. The carbon fiber face actually matches my dash and the USB port holds all my CD collection . It doesn't have the greatest readout for MP3s on your USB but it's OK.. The remote is useful. I velcroed it to the dash for simple safe storage and easy access.
So your model if newer may have a compatible connector, but if it's a 2006 vintage like mine, the wiring was an easy changeover since the colors matched the functions.
Good luck and I hope you don't need service from Sony, it barely exists...........
The guides and manuals are easily accessible through the manufacture's website:
mounting cage, vehicle standard. 167 mm for the detachable face plate. Hope that helps you out.
