Works Perfect With Alpine SWR-1243D

Got this for my 12" Type-R sub and it works/fits perfectly. The grill is extremely strong, ...now I'm not afraid to have things like jack stands tumbling around in my trunk next to my sub during spirited runs through the twisties. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but I'm sure it'll handle my jack stands being tossed into the grill. As strong and completely covered up my sub is with this, you can still clearly see the sub.

I can see how if you're using this for other than an Alpine subwoofer, the outer ring may not stay on well, ...but for use with an Alpine sub, this ring is gonna stay on super snug and it isn't going anywhere.

Does it's job

I actually used this grill on a Cerwin-Vega subwoofer so I realize it's not perfectly designed for it but the rubber surround that covers the mounting screws keeps falling off. Other than that it's a nice grill cover that has saved my subwoofer at least 4-5 times already. Great product!!

AMAZING PRODUCT!!!

I bought two of these grills for my brand new Type R subs. They come with everything you need to install your sub including self tapping screws and special clamps to keep the grill in place which makes it fit perfectly like a custom made glove, and a neat rubber surround to hide the screws (similar to the one that comes with Alpine Subs). They fit this way because they were made by Alpine specificly for the Apline "Type R" and "Type S" subs which is why they are a little pricey so don't go complaining about the way they fit or the price if you are going to use it for some other brand subwoofer other than Alpine. Build quality is great and you get what you pay for. In conclusion, its one great Apline procuct that works seamlessly with the other great Alpine products that it was made for.

Well Worth the Protection!

I bought this product to protect my 12" Alpine Type-R. I frequently have heavy things in my trunk and I wanted to make sure that the subwoofer wouldn't be damaged if something were to hit it. The grill is made out of thick metal and everything is pre-cut. I've had a few bowling balls hit the grill and it didn't even dent! My only gripe about this product is the price. $20 for a piece of precut metal is rather expensive. Some may argue that it's because of the name brand, but nowhere on the product itself does it say "Alpine".

Fits and looks great - a must have!

The "grill" that comes with the the Alpine sub is a piece of crap. It's only for show and has no function to it whatsoever. Mine had also cracked when a gallon of milk rolled over it while I was driving.

This replacement grill is awesome. it actually protects the sub from stuff in your trunk; it fits perfectly; it looks cool; it doesn't obstruct the sound and this was the cheapest price on the internet.

Alpine quality

Bought covers for 2 R-series 12" Alpine subs of different generations. Bought 1st sub about 5 years ago and just recently added the 2nd. Covers fit BOTH subs nicely,even though dimensions were slightly different on sub depth and construction. As always, Sonic had what I wanted and delivered promptly and without problems.

Stout and Stylish Protection

This woofer grille uses heavy gauge steel in it's construction. Gloss black, chip/scratch resistant paint. It's mounting scheme uses the speakers mounting screws to hold it in place. The screws are concealed using a rubber trim ring unique to the grille, but looks like the one that comes with the Alpine speaker. A design that gives it a very professional look, while protecting your speaker against very tough abuse. I would never put a speaker in my car without one.

Good Protection

This grill will definitely protect your subs from harm. Plus, it still allows you to admire them as well. Only downside is that it is a little pricey but well worth it and IS NECESSARY for anyone without grills.
