Impressive Factory Upgrade
I didn't realize this was available on Amazon and purchased it straight from Kicker. We just did the install this evening and I was very impressed with the build quality of this factory upgrade. We took video of the entire install and will have it up on YouTube within the next week. The install was straight forward and took about 3 hours taking extra care and making allowances for videoing the entire install. Everything fit perfectly and looks truly factory. It is evident that the Kicker engineers worked with Ford to put together an upgrade that has a factory fit and finish.
We did a sound test before and after and the signal processor/amplifier for the front stage is amazing. Straight factory sounded OK but it didn't really get as loud as my brother wanted and bass was lacking.
After the install you have to yell over the stereo and the sound is very clean, no distortion. Highs are very bright and the mid-bass is strong and punchy. You do have to adjust the bass a bit depending on what type of music you are listing to but overall we were both really impressed with how much low-end the 8" sub fills in. We listened to some Aldo Nova (serious 80's jams), Brass Monkey, In This Moment, White Zombie, Texas Hippie Coalition and some Lindsey Sterling Dubstep to get a feel for the range and this setup is really impressive.
If you are big into heavy dubstep or rap and want to "feel" the bass then this isn't the install you are looking for, but if you are more into rock and heavy metal where punchy bass and general low frequency feel is what you are looking for than you won't be disappointed.
You get to retain the factory Sync 3 AND your factory Warranty. If that is important to you than this is really your only option.
***Note - This upgrade will not work if you have the Sony premium audio.
***Note - This upgrade will not work if you have the stop-start feature that kills the engine when you stop at a red light.

The upgrade kit for my Ford F-150 is awesome, it makes use of the factory speakers with the addition of a 8" subwoofer that fits behind the back seats, it looks factory!!, everything works, no wire cutting, the kit comes with all the wiring harness that are needed, the sound will blow you away
