i just wanted to update for all wondering if they should buy this sub or not. YOU SHOULD. ok so i still have these runnign off my kicker, with a rockford 500-2 for the highs. got the bass knob, so the boost on the amp is full, and gain is a lil below 3/4 on the amp for safety. these babys slam dude. like, choking almost. and ther 2 12's. i have them facing inside my car in my 99 grand am gt with the back seats folded down in the rockford fosgate box with the ports (i took those out and made mdf seals for the box, sealed them in and painted because i like sealed better) and its insane how loud these are. the one has been through absolute hell, no other way to put it. i turned them around because i use my trunk alot and stuff gets tossed at them all the time unfortunately. so the one sub is destroyed, appearance wise. i had them reverse mounted in a sealed box at one point and due to the fact that the dust caps were cracked in the first place, it exploded. the dust cap literally exploded. so that one is trashed and has some tears in the surround, while the other one spent most of its life in my room its in fairly good condition, not being as broken in as the other one. and they still pound like ther aint no tomorrow. these things are invincible. they sustain so much unintentional abuse and still never back down. i love these things and want to get 2 more so i can hav 4 12's. MUST BUY if your just lookin to get a good bang for your buck. Rockford's are quality built. cant go wrong.

great sub

I have had two sets of these subs, one set was stolen, then i went to kicker, then back to rockford for the best sound, they hit harder and cleaner than any subwoofers that i have heard in my vehicle,
Pros: clean bass, nice look, hits lows well
Cons: the durability could be better, the front of the subs can crack easy, but they sound does not change
Overall a great subwoofer, have my two being pushed by Rockford Fosgate T-500, gives it great kick

AWESOME SUB

I have owned these suckers for couple years now (one older version and other is this version) and they are the best ever! After breaking them in, one decided to quick working (wire broke inside or something, seemed fine but wouldn't work) so I sent it in to have it fixed, they sent back a brand new one for free (just had 2 pay shipping)!!! Both work awesome now and have out lived the amp (got too warm and quit workin the other day). Best bang for the buck...Literally! Kicks the s*#t out of my coworker's $300/each subs! Buy these bangers now!

I have used all kinds of subwoofers. Rockford fosgate subwoofers are top of the line for me. Most bang for your buck.

Rockford lives up to its rep

WOW, for a 500w max sub, it hits lows harder than a 1000w or 1500w sub can. That precision engineering. I presently own 1 hooked onto one channel on my punch 400.2 amp and it throws about an inch and makes my car shake. i have 2 brand new ones coming in from sonic, who's prices were cheaper than ebay sellers for the p2's.
Pros- Hard hitting powerful lows
Cons- slightly weak mids, but sound quality is there

Good Sub

easy install and the sounds is very good,less distortion than my last one.

Decent sub.

I have one of these in my chevy S-10...it hits hard, but my MA-Audio was way louder, but this sub has cleaner sound...now my volfenhag sub...ya that was wayyyy better than this sub, although the durability wasnt to great on it. so if you want clean bass and a durable sub, this is the way to go, now if you want LOUD...get the p3 or higher, or just go with kicker or ma or volfenhag...lol but still a nice sub none-the-less.

quality sub

I installed a 12" p2 in my truck and for the price, I don't think I could have bought anything better. I really abuse this sub pretty hard, and unlike my old blown sub that was even rated for higher power, this sub has held together no problem and continues to thump out those low notes like new. 100% satisfied

Excellent Sub for the price

I purchased an older version model P212D4 and that was in Oct. of 2006 and to this day my 12's still bump excellent punch bass. Some times I check the non ported box and the bass knocked out a external speaker port. I am serious people if you are looking for great bass at a superior price buy these subs. Oh and it would help if you match them with a 500 watt punch amp old school version if you can find one cause trust me old school power is just better with Fosgate.

PowerBass Xtreme XAX-500D Pretty Good Amp !

I am using this amp at 2 ohms powering a single12 IDQ 4 v3
It seems to do a pretty good job.
I was also considering the Alpine PDX-M6, Both amps have about the same foot-print as I needed something small to mount under my seat.
The alpine is rated at 100 rms more then this amp @ 2ohm
I just could not justify spending $100 more for the extra power.
The IDQ is rated at 450 rms Max and this amp pushes 400 rms.
So it does a nice job.

I was a bit disappointed in the fact the the amp is made in China.
But I found a ton of other name brands also using China.

The only Con on this amp is the Terminals are phillips screws instead of allen heads and you have to careful not to strip them.

Very Good Subs

I use 2 have 2 of these in my 1994 chryseler lhs in 2 seperate q-logic boxes, these are the hardest hitting subs i have ever had....i had a 1000 watt power aucoustic amp but it burned out, then i hooked up a mtx 4300x amp.... they lated a couple of months then blew out.... but i always had them bumping there hardest....there really great and really loud speakers it just depends on how u have them hooked up....and don't push them to hard or they will blow out i went threw 3 of them....great buy

WOW!

Well I have installed stereo and such professionally for 14 years. After a 5 year hiatus, I decided to upgrade the sound in my truck. I picked 2 of these woofers, wow how things have changed. These things sound fantastic! They work in such a small box it isnt even funny, mine are installed in 1.17 cu foot vented and they SLAM! They really remind me of the old school JLW6 12 inch woofers without the $300/ea price tag. Thanks a ton rockford!

one loud sub

I have two of this sub in my scion and dang do they hit hard. These subs are great and worth every penny!

Best sub i've ever had

I got this sub back in December but the surround ripped from half of the sub being pushed against my seat but it still hits HARD!! I love this sub Rockford for life

Great Value!

Absolutely the best sub for its price. I have it set pretty low now, and it hits very hard. I'll soon amplify my speakers so they can keep up with it when I really turn it up!!

Best bang for your buck

i had my buddys 2 phoenix golds in my car till i got these. had them on a kicker zx850.4 bridged on one channel (2 channels still open) and they were ok. got these, put them on the SAME amp, giving them the SAME power, and oh my god these things hit soooo hard. best purchase ive ever made. me and my buddy cannot believe that 1000w could ever sound so good. needless to say, we dropped the golds off at our other buddys house lol

this is a great sub, but like anything they are better in pairs, i know there are rockford haters out there but i dont care with the right amp these subs will hit low and hard. i have 2 of these with a punch 500w 2 channel amp, 2 boss-tw18 tweets and 2 t162c speakers on an alpine 200w 2 channel v12 amp, its crystal clear. if your going to do it right buy rockford, thats all i can say. I get compliments on my system all the time.

Man these subs bang like nothing else! I hooked 2 12" Rockford Fosgate P2D412 to my mtx 600xd amp and man i thought that the hulk was coming becuase all i felt was the ground trembling. great buy for the price.

GREAT SUB!!!! LOVE IT!!!!

I hooked one of these up in my 98 GMC sonoma ext cab pickup on a 480 watt sony xplod amp and it hits like a beast. I love this speaker and i plan on buying another one soon. The price is great. I've had it for two weeks now and i dont have one problem with it. I recommend this speaker to anyone. I have friends that heard mine and now they want one just like it. I cant wait to get my second one.

Great Subwoofer!

Pros: Hits hard, very loud, especially in a regular cab small-size truck! Lasts a long time, and can take a beating.

Cons: The only thing bad about this is that the rubber that surrounds the cone is good quality, but is fairly flimsy. I unscrewed my p2 from my custom box, and the screw gun slipped and punctured a hole right through the rubber that surrounds it... Just like that!

Overall: Great subwoofer, as long as you are more careful installing it than I am!

Great sub

This is a great subwoofer, I had one in my ford explorer and it hit so much harder, than my 2 audiobahn 10's, and its very clear too. It's worth the price. the only thing with this sub is you have to get the right amp with it. I had a 1200 watt 2 channel sony xplod amp, and i couldnt bridge it b/c the sub runs at 4 ohms and the amp does at 2 when its bridged, so i only have 400 watts running to it, so keep that in mind, but still, the best sub i've ever owned, and i've owned quite a few
