I have not purchased a rear view camera so I don't have anything to compare this to. But it worked without issue when mated with my Alpine head unit. It has acceptable vision at night, but that may be more due to the amount of light the car produces than the camera.
Value is only a 2 because you can find cameras for as little as $20.
