Great cheap bass!!

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

These things are loud! For what you pay you get more then expected. Best bang for your buck. Put two of these in my 2014 sierra in a under the seat ported fox box and it bangs! Just make sure ou break them in correctly. I had 2 12 alpine type r shallows and fried them hit me too hard too soon. Alpine recommends 4-6 weeks of breakin in. Otherwise great overall!

sportman

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

Wow this thing hits like Thor. I already had a swr10d43-x and was very impressed with it. It is 600 watts rms. This new swr 105 is a positive step above at 1000 watts rms and just as clear if not clearer than before. I can't think of one bad thing about this sub unless it is the fact that I don't have room for two. Thanks again Sonic you are by far the best when it comes to electronics. Keep up the good work.

Durable is an understatement!

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

I am currently running two SWR-D2 Alpine subs with a RF T1500-1bdCP at 1 ohm with less than 1/3 gain. The birth sheet for the amp reads 1867 Watts RMS. With a OFC 1/0 gauge power and ground complimented with a 137 amp aftermarket alternator than states a 160 amp draw at 2000 rpm's with a constant 13.5 volt draw at an idle. in a slot ported box tuned at 33 hz with a gross internal volume of 1.33 cubic feet each. the T1500 is easily over powering the subs with the PEQX3 sub knob you have to be careful not to boost the bass too much because the voice coil will start slapping the magnet structure (which i do on accident all the time). I've been running these things at least 3 hours a day sometimes up to 6 hours continually at max blast for the last 4 months!!! very dependable and always stays cool (which you can feel on the cone)as long as you amp doesn't peak out. i have ran 6 different amps with these subs trying to find the perfect 1. always abused and driven to the full excursion capable of these subs at 20 mm one way which equals 1.5 inches from all in to all out. i think its closer to 2 inches but its impossible to measure, its just a guess based on the travel of the alpine emblems. my only complaint is the wire jumper terminals that come with the subs are unreliable because it hits so hard and the SPL is so high it pushes them out, however if you just use your speaker wire instead, it holds firm and tight forever. always remember that the output of the sub is relative to the amp pushing them and more important is the box they are in. i originally had them in a seal box of .75 cubic feet each but i enjoy more bass output with the same clarity tuned at 33 hz in my new box.i have spent over $2200 on my system and know i would not be where i am at now without alpine quality and sonic electonix great prices and never failing customer support and warranties.

Nice

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

This Alpine Type R is nice i have it with a kole audio amp 980w but it gives me 800w rms. I also have it with a epicenter and a equalizer and a capacitor and i have an amp for the speaker doors. This thing is loud Oh and i have a custom box for it and that box is a beast..it it louder than 2 12 cvrs and 2 15 memphis. this 10 makes my whole dash move

Very nice...

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

Once I pulled this out of the box I was very impressed with the build quality, not surprised, but impressed none the less. Sub definitely needs to broken in, cone is very stiff when new. Sound is incredible, very clean, tight bass. Wouldn't recommend for those looking for wide, boomy bass. Although with the right equipment and box probably could fulfill those needs as well. Make sure not to under power, fairly power hungry. However, when powered right, very nice.

These subs pound pretty good for the price, but you get what you pay for. if your on a budget then these would be a good choice. I would recommend these to anybody who is looking for a good sub at a decent price

Spend the extra money to get something better sonic offers

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

Pros - Clear sound with somewhat decent volume for the price.

Cons - Durability isn't that great. Other subs offered by sonic are much "louder" with the same or better sound quality and last much longer.

Sub is very clear. Not as "loud" as everyone claims. Broke in the sub for the correct break in period and after that the sub completely fried out. With just a few more dollars a much better sub can be purchased.

apline swr- 10d4

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

I am pushing a single swr-10d4 in my f-150 after destroying two other subs. I currently have 500 watts rms pushing my alpine but this beast needs more. The response, sound quality and durability of this sub is amazing. This sub is badass and I recommend it to anyone looking for better sound in their ride.

Best bang for the buck

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

Well worth the price compared to the competition. I'm running one of these in a custom box made for a 350Z. Simply amazing what this single 10" subwoofer can do. My amp is a Rockford Fosgate P400-1 and they are set for 2 ohms. The actual RMS output for the amp is 534 watts @ 2 ohms. I thought I might end up needing more but I'm very satisfied with the results. I highly recommend this sub.

Decent

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

For the money I have few complaints. I am used to larger subs(12-15) and this is not like those. The audible bass is loud and clean but its not shaking the car next to me. Which is what I was looking for when I bought only one of these. I installed it in a .6^2ft box and am happy to have most of my trunk back to being useable.

Underpowered and still kills

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I have one of these in a sealed box at 2 ohms hooked up to an Alpine MRP-M500. The sub is a little bit underpowered but it still hits ridiculously hard. I am definitely going to get a second one of these. The value is amazing.... Similar Kicker and RF's are more expensive and don't have as good of specs. In my experience with Alpine, you'll get what you expect plus much much more.

Bump for your Buck

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

This subwoofer surprised the hell out of me for it's size and how much I paid for it. I have it in a sealed box and powered at 2ohms. It's getting 800watts RMS! This sub is almost as loud as my 2 12s and those were in a ported box and it less than half the size so I'm saving room too! Planning on getting a ported box for it so I can really see how loud it is! I recommend this for anyone needing to save room, money, and be loud at the same time!!!

BUY THIS SUB

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I am SQ guy and had a 8" RE & then Infinity. Could not get exactly what I was looking for with the 8". Read a lot on 1042d and it got great reviews. The new upgrade interested me. Bought sub and Alpine mono amp to run DVC @ 2 ohms. It sounds awesome and will run you out of car if you wanted it to.
Pro: Great sub. Great in a .75cu' sealed box. Running -2 on Pioneer 4200dvd.
Con: Trying to find one.

Alpine SWR-1043D

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I would recommend this sub to anybody. I had it in a crew cab Chevy Colorado in a sealed box. The sub hit all the notes well and deep. There's more than enough power there for me And I listen to mainly rock and some rap. The design of the subwoofer is great as well, very well built and the mounting depth was perfect for what i was looking for. I love it and will buy another if this one ever gives out!!!

Awesome as always from Alpine!!

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

I have always been a fan of Alpine speakers/subs. The one thing that you need to know about Alpine is they love power! If you do not intend on fully powering the speakers/subs you purchase close to or right at their recommended RMS, then go with something else!
That being said, this sub is currently in a custom sealed fiberglass enclosure, just under 1cf. I am running Alpine's 1000X1 RMS @ 2ohm mono class D to it, and it loves it! Sounds better than the 2 12's I had before. Sure, being a 10, it can't hit all the extremely low notes of a 12 or 15, but it does the job.
If you have the power to push it, you will not be disappointed.

Awesome subwoofers, and possibly the best.

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

I have two of these 10" subwoofers in a sealed (.65) Fox Acoustics box under the rear seat in my truck, and they sound amazing! Despite the modifications that had to be done to the box, because Fox Acoustics measurements were incorrect, there was no replacement that I would have choosen for these Type-R's. The sound is incredible, especially coming from a subwoofer that is only a 10". They definitely have a nice deep tone. I haven't attempted to push the limits of these subwoofers, but I'm sure they are pretty scary at their peak. Both subwoofers are powered by a Rockford Fosgate T1500 amp, along with a 30 farad capacitor (not adding a second battery unless I have to). BTW, yes, these subwoofers do shake everything!

Not as sloppy sounding as the previouse models. I am running it on a hifonics brz 1200.1 in a 1 cubic foot sealed box. And the sound is so clean and tight. This 10" sub can hit the low notes! Props to Alpine its a bargain for the price. Thanks Sonic!

I have it bridged to 1200 watts at 4ohms. (Sub is 4ohm) after break in period. Oh my god is all I have to say. My whole van bumps. I sware u think there is more than just a 10 back there. I'm running this Alpine SWR-10D4 with a Rockford Fosgate PRIME R1000-1D. I built a custom box tuned to 35Htz and let me tell you this; I have never heard bass sound this awesome! It's not as loud as you would expect from 1000 watts but it's only 1 10" sub too. After all, the more surface area, the more sound. Definitely a good buy though.

great price on the speakers i have them in a my 2500 hd pushing them with a pdx 1000 mono amp i was not too impressed with the performance i expected more but i would not say it all has to do with the subs it may be the box they are in or something but i do think they should hit harder for being such a big rms capable. the magnet and frame work make it something to consider when installing if you have a nonconventional designed box like vehicle specific boxes for example when the box has limited space.

Good sub but...

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

I purchased this sub a while back and have it set up in my room. The lows hit very nice and it gets very loud. One day I started to hear a cracking sound and i noticed the cone was cracked! Pretty disappointed. You'd think paying that much money you'd get a more durable cone but instead get a little flimsy plastic cover. Other than that the cone cracks easily, the sub is fantastic.

I have just one of these bad boys in a regular vented box paired with a Kenwood KAC-9105D and I get a very nice thump out of it. For the price, you get a great sub. I'm looking to pair it with another one in a custom band pass soon and expect mind numbing bass out of them as the Kenwood has power to spare. No problems with the amp or sub so far. The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I purchased 2 of these 10's (replaced 2 Kicker L5's) for trunk space mainly, and let me tell you the bass is very accurate from low volume all the way up the scale! NO JOKE! They sound better to me than the Kickers they replaced, and they are in very little (.50cuft. boxes). And yet they play the lows every bit if not better than the L5's. I have them hooked up to a Hiphonics BXI 2600 and this works flawlessly! I HIGHLY recommend.

Great sub! Buttt i prefer the older model 1042d

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

Excellent sub, as always. Can never touch the alpine type R subs with any other sub within $100 of the price of these. Although, I was slightly disappointed when I tried out this one after using the 1042d for a full year. Bass is not as tight or clean on this sub, I found some notes that it really couldn't play, and sounded bad on. Even after a full year of heavy usage I've yet to find a note the older model can't play amazingly well. Although, this sub does seem a bit louder, and power handling is improved, and mounting depth is shorter, it is more of a sidestep from the 1042 than an upgrade. (Note: I bought both subs brand new and used them in the exact same conditions to make the comparison). All in all, if this was the first alpine sub I bought for my car, i would have no complaints whatsoever. But considering I like the sound of the older model a little bit better, ill be switching back to that one.

I didn't have the room for a 12" unit and I was concerned that I wouldn't get enough performance out of a 10" subwoofer. There is no need to worry, this monster will knock your rearview mirror off if you let it. Clear, clean, powerful bass that you can feel as well as hear. If you need more bass than this in a car you're insane.

Deciding which sub started and ended with 2 ohm or 4 ohm

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I knew it was going to be an Alpine Type R 10" sub. All I had to do was figure out the configuration I was going to be most comfortable with now and in the future and the dvc 4 ohm was the answer. I could have looked at other subs but Type Xs are expensive so I devoted more time figuring out the best ohm load.

My certainty on Alpine subs was matched by my knowledge of the vendor I eventually purchased from and that was Sonic Electronix fulfilling through A*****.

Claims of top customer service can be posted anywhere, said by anyone. Where the rubber hits the road is when you are the party seeking customer service and receiving customer service that you were never expecting. Sonic answered the bell when I needed to complete an RMA. Weighing the cost benefit of the possibility of running into a completely unexpected scenario always has you leaning towards Sonic. I like purchasing from them and I will do so again

For the money / quality, the type R series from Alpine is one Rockin' woofer. I recommend it to anyone looking for quality bass and not into putting a hole through their wallet.

Quality Subwoofer

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

The Alpine Type R 10" subwoofer ROCKS. Awesome quality, great price, and killer BASS. Big DEEP sound in a ported enclosure, tight hard hits in a sealed box. I have this sub in a ported enclosure with 400watts RMS @ 2ohms, and it bumps hard. Just one of these subs will get the job done. Excellent SPL and SQ. A very high quality sub at an affordable price. Buy it with total confidence and enjoy great bass!

Alpine Type R

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

I have always had alpine speakers. From my door speakers to my subs, i always rely on alpine. before i bought my alpine 10 type r i had two 12 type s which were alright, but i wanted more trunk space so i decided to go with that one. I advise ANYONE to go with this speaker..one type R matches up with 2 type s, or 3 type e, and plus you dont have to go crazy and buy the type x because type r sounds just as good for half the price. i recommend this product to everyone.

Crazy Nice

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

This sub is amazing. I just installed it in my 73 Ford F100 and man this thing is awesome. I've got it matched with a Kenwood 500 rms at 2 ohms. I don't think the kenwood is putting out as much as the sub can handle, but I'm upgrading to an alpine mrp-500 to do the job; also buying another one of these bad boys and putting them in a bigger box. These things are monsters for the price. Lows are great out of these.

was great unitl...

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

It blew on me. I had two hooked up to a RF T-1000D, Birth sheet said 1102 @ 1 ohm. So slightly under powered. For three months it sounded great! Loud, clean, clear bass but one of them blew on me last night and the other one isn't in good shape. They were in a small sealed box because I have a mustang and dont want to spend 800$ for a custom install, so it's more so my fault than sub failure. A bit of advice make sure they're in a ported box so the voice coils dont burn up on you like mine did.

Amazing Quality A+++ Long Lasting

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

These subs are great. I have always had alpine subs and obviously would recommend them. My first subs were 2 12" Type R in a medium size ported box. It hit hard but the box was more SQL rather than SPL. I hit 137 db on SPL meter with them w/ 400 watts per sub (Hifonics Mono 1206d amp, 1200watts)

Next, i bought an Alpine Type X- 12". One of these in a large ported box, same amp. I hit 143 dbs on the meter. Stupid loud and MUCH louder than the two Type-Rs but with only one sub. Too bad the sub was stupid heavy (like 75+lbs in the box) So i sold it and got more than i paid for it.

I then got a 10" type-R for cheap on this website. I put it in a home made, large, ported SPL box and hit 145dbs on the meter with 2000watts RMS going to it. This was just for fun. But it didn't even blow the sub!!! I hooked it back up to the Hifonics amp and put it into a small ported box later and it's still going strong over 3 years later. Awesome SQL (sound quality) and great for SPL (Sound pressure level- In a way, Loudness)

This sub is great for anybody looking for window shaking, ear tickeling, license plate ratteling bass- to the daily driver listening to hiphop/rap music on the way to school or work, just looking for moderate bass that sounds great!

Big Bang!

I got my 2 Alpine Type R's from someone for around 50 bucks a piece. They're still in great shape and they seriously sound like I have some 12"s in the trunk, and they beat my friend's 15" Kickers, and I'm only running 700 watts RMS @ 1 ohm. lol

alpine type r 10"

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

I would recommend these speakers for one reason they will out last Kicker and MTX. I got mine 4 years ago almost five and they sound great. My 1 brother bought his kicker 12S around the same time and my buddy got his mtx a year after me. They're both only running 800 watts with ported boxes where I'm running a 1200watts Sony amp bridged with a non ported box. My brother crapped out a year ago and my buddies crapped out 2 years after. It will be 5 years on my birthday witch is a few days from now. I would recommend these to anyone wanting a sub that lasts.

Awesome sound

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I had a bottom of the line Polk sub before I got the Alpine (the Polk blew out pretty quickly) and there's really no comparison. The Alpine is much more punchy, hits higher notes more clearly, and sounds much better. I compare it to listing to music at high volume with some decent computer speakers (Polk) to being at the concert and really feeling the bass (Alpine). You feel much more of the music, which is one of the cool things about listening to a live band. Anyways, I've had this sub for several months now (I got an e-mail from sonic-electronix asking for a review) and am a true Alpine fan.

Alpine 10" Type R

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I am reviewing the Alpine Type R. Overall the quality of the sub is great. Easy connections for speaker wire and solid frame. I have had an issue though and I'm not sure if I should blame it on the Sub or my amp. Originally I had 1 Type R hooked to a Kenwood 9104 at 4ohm so it was running 500 watts rms. The amp went into protect and when I swapped out the speaker it worked fine, so I figured it was a bad speaker. I bought 2 more Type R's and wired them at 1 ohm giving each sub 450w rms. After about a month, the same thing happened. The amp goes into protect mode. I worked with tech support and tested the speakers and they said they tested good and must be my amp. I am buying a Hifonics Brutus to run the subs. When I get that I will find out if it was the speakers or the amp.

Excellent Versatillity

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

This is a great sub thanks to the dual voice coil. You have many more options when it comes to wiring the sub to match 2 or 4 ohms. It handles a lot of watts easily. I have it hooked up to a 600watt RMS 2 channel alpine amp bridged to achieve maximum wattage and it hits well for the size box I chose.

I have it in an extremely small sealed box so that it hits hard and sharp.

Be careful of the depth and weight of this product, make sure your speaker box is equipped to handle the size.

These are awesome subs. HANDSDOWN!!! Hooked up to the ever so popular (for a reason) Hifonics BXI 2610D, and handle what this amp can give. I love them and quite sure you will too. The thing is, these are in the smallest(sealed) box possible for these subs(per specs. from Alpine), I can imagine how they would sound in a bigger ported box OMG! Try them out. For the price I feel they can't be beat.

Awesome Sub

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

This sub is awesome! I built a custom subwoofer box out of fiberglass to fit right in the side of my trunk of my 2007 civic. I originally wanted to power 2 of these subs with one Alpine MRP-M1000 amp. Didn't work very well for me. These can handle a lot of power. So I have one of these hooked up to that amp with the amp turned almost all the way up. Sounds better than when i had both hooked up. Overall very pleased and I have no complaints at all. Just can't wait to get another 1000 watt amp to power the other one i have :)

600 rms in a 10" sub

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

Just one 10" gets compliments from people who go for a ride in my truck all the time. they say it sounds better than their 12 sub. But thats the reason why i bought it, I like sound quality over spl, although it does offer spl if you use the enclosure dimensions that alpine recommends. Alpine's instructions include an optimal vented enclosure design that i am in fact using.

i most pleased to find a powerful sub for the price that is listed.

never ever doubt alpine.

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

I bought these 6 months ago, and they still sound perfect. Very good Product. i get doubtful whenever i buy things until i try them out. I hooked 2 of these up to a sundown saz-1000d @ 1ohm (1000w rms) in a ported box supposedly tuned to 33hz. I probably have it turned down to 800w or less because my alt cant supply the full power. these things really slam. i wasn't going for loud but that's what i got and it sounds good and clean. i was mixed up between these, and the jl w3's, but i am very happy with the decision i made. be prepared to fix rattles in your car. it'll make it sound much better. give them good clean power, tune your amp right and these will play for a long long time. (stay away from bass boost)

I have them on an arc audio 1000rms amp and they love it! Pair these subs up with a ported box and quality amp and be ready to rattle u car apart and get alot of attention! Ridiculous bass for only a single 10"

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I got this older model Type-R and figured i'd give it a shot. I wanted to do it right and figured i could outhit my friends two twelves, so i put this ten into a ProBox 110SPB and it definitely did the job. I'm only running 400 watts rms from an Alpine MRP-M450 and it still hits harder than two twelves. The low notes player so clear and the bass is just amazing without having to empty out my wallet.

Very Good Sub for the price

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

I have one of these in a chevrolet astro van, and since its only a ten i was doubting it, but was i wrong. This thing pounds, of course i made a box probably around 3 cubic feet, but this thing is nice, especially for the price. Alpine always has good things anyways so i decided to try it out, i used to have a type e but its not comparison for the lows. My box is ported and i have one in the astro and it will make the roof rack jump and make all the doors rattle. Not sure about the sealed box, tried but didnt like the sound. A VERY GOOD BUY. always check the ohms before you hook it up though.

What it really is...

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1043D).

The RMS rating is a "little" false. I put one Type-r 10 in an eclipse competition bandpass box... played it for two hours low volume and cranked it for about 20 seconds..... bang, left my daytona's hatch in a cloud of smoke. im not sure how. i was only powering it off of a sony 800w max 2 channel amp. But I'm sure if you had at least 2 of these, and didn't slam them on a constant basis you would be just fine. THESE THINGS HIT HIGHS LIKE NO OTHER. i would strongly recommend a sealed box. dont push more than 350w to a 10 or problems may occur. (from personal experience)

Got these in a week and breaking them in but man, the sound that comes from these are the best I've heard so far. I have had everything from L7s to MTX and almost everything else in the middle but these are the best sounding to me anyways. Before my car used to shake but now it rattles and I just can't get over the sound quality.I've only had these up to maybe 300 rms but I have a mrp-m2000 (overkill) on the way and I know it's going to be awesome. I installed 4 of these subs in an extended cab Mazda in a sealed enclosure with a 1500w RMS boss amp (to be upgraded later). They'd have greater SPL in a ported box, but the sound quality in a sealed box with these is AWESOME.
The provided banana plugs for the dual voice coil makes amp setups easy and they look good when visible!

Amazing Sub

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1041D).

This sub is quite possibly the best I've heard yet. I think it is an incredible bargain. I like the dual voice coils and the high power handling. It is perfectly matched to Alpines MRD M300 (if you need an amp for it). My experience with this sub is that it can take alot more than what it is rated, but don't quote me on that. My subs have taken a beating and they still pound like the day they came out of the box. I'd be willing to pay $200 a sub. I recommend this sub if you must go with a 10", otherwise go with the 12". Regardless, Alpine Type-Rs are the way to go. Don't settle.

Impressed!

I’ve had the sub in for about a week now and without fine tuning the amp I am impressed with the sub. This thing hits hard and clean, especially for a sub that only costs roughly $250. I look forward to getting everything dialed in and to see what the sub is really capable of.

Not so great..

Had two of these hooked up in my g37s coupe on a 2000wrms amp wired to 2ohms. One sub blew after my second month of having them! The cone totally shattered..never touched any gains on the amp. These subs are only made for up to 500wrms safely. The cone it self is not as durable and the quality is not as strong. I would recommend if these subs if you want clarity not loudness. I had both running 1400wrms but clearly that was too much.

Great sound, little cash!!!!!

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

I recently purchased one of these and put it in a 1.2cft. box. I have an alpine MRD-M301 mono digital amp. Puts 397 Watts RMS, although its just rated at 350. This is a very clean sounding sub, and gets descently loud for a 10. Hits the low notes perfectly with no distortion from cone at all. In fact this sub makes no noise at all, no matter how high i crank it. Very pleased, cant go wrong for 110 bucks. Plus with the trim cover to cover the screws and is a very well finished product.

Why pay more for less

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

Why would you pay more for less when you can get the type R with more for less? This is the new improved type r and just like the old one the hit hard, only harder. This is easy to see given the extra 200 rms and the new design. This is an all around awesome sub, and for the price, I would say one of the best you could get.

Type R's are awesome

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

They are all around kickass. Except for my 2004 model that blew.

Old school Type R’s

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1041D).

I picked up a set of these first version type R 10s in a sealed/ported box for $100. I quickly went to the used marketplace in search of an amp. I ended up getting a Powerbass 1500.1 mono for it also for $100!! All I can say is the power specs for these are underrated. They can handle quite a bit of power. If they do in fact blow, there is upgrade kits for them. Highly recommend if you can find them on the used market.

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

Just received two of these bad boys and had em installed in a ported slot box. They hit hard and tight, you can feel it in your chest. Break em in a little bit and you can bump it higher. Listening to these makes driving through traffic very tolerable :)
Highly recommend!

10 type R

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

I'm running one of these in a sealed 1.0 box due to space with Alpine MRD605. The sql is good and the bass is good with the airspace I'm using. Might sound even better in a ported box. Another fine alpine product this speaker has proven itself in the car audio world.

None

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-1042D).

When i first listened to these i was very impressed. I have 2 of them in a 1.3 cubic ft sealed enclosure running off a hifonics bxi1606D (1600 watts, way too much but i was sent the wrong amp). They hit super strong and got decently loud. In addition quality was great. However after a month i started noticing a weird rattle. Over the course of 2 weeks the rattle worsened significantly. the spider is separating from the cone. sounds like s***. Alpine has reliability problems. My previous generation type r blew after 6 months.

Alpine 10” R Series

I highly recommend this subwoofer. I have it powered by a jx1000/1d in a ported fox box for my ram pickup and the sound is amazing for 1 sub.

Well...before I get 2 12” diff brand of sub with big solid box n it was great sounds come out n it’s cheaper...now I try a 10” type r sub 2nd owner well cant afford new to expensive...any ways but the price it’s right coz it’s give you a best sound, not only great come out...it’s beautiful and amazing sound that you really want it and feel the vibe come out...
Believe or not everyone knows bout alpine brand...I only get alpine cd deck and type r woofer and sub...amp diff brand...I wanted to match up all alpine only missing amp, at least 1000 to 1500 Watts...tweeter and mid speaker...but if I had that all...sounds goin be way perfect and amazing sounds ever...ALPINE 5stars

Alpine R-W10D4

I have mine wired to two ohms on 675 rms in a porter box under the back seat of my truck and it kicks ass!!! Makes my mirrors shake and my change quake! Not a competition sub like a dc or fi etc but it’s def a top-notch everyday consumer sub.

Great as always!

Great product, outdoes all other subs in the price range ive had several cvx 10's that just dont do what the alpine swr10d4 would do. I got the new updated model at the same price of the swr10. Pounds extremely hard out of a 1.25 cubic ft ported box at 37hz. Running off a LOC factory headunit 08 saturn astra. It does what i wanted it to do and then some. Could easily take more than the 600w rms at 2ohms my kicker amp is giving it.

Well this was my second one

I liked the sub but did not last very long I had the same sub but the 2ohm voice coils had that for 6 months then white spots showed up on the center found out it was faulty so I traded it out for this sub. But this one only lasted 3 months. Took it to 2 stereo shops and was told my setting were fine for the set up I had all Brand new deck and wires and everything. And the white spots are back again.

Great subwoofer for the price

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-10D4).

I bought this to replace my SWX-1043D which had died and is no longer being offered. This is a great 1000w sub that does the trick. It was not as good as the type X (doesn't have the same punch feel to the bass) I had originally, but the price was much better.

New Type R

Running this sub through a PDX 600 watt RMS amp. I went straight from the last model Type R 10 to this one, same box even. Bass is tighter, seems a bit louder, happy with my purchase. If you are considering this sub, on a super tight budget, it's worth the extra $40 over leftover prior models.
