Excellent 8" sub
I have one of these in my Tacoma. It's defiantly not earth-shattering melt your brain bass, but it is punchy and has great definition in the bass notes. I have no problem with the amount of output that one of these getting 300 watts RMS.
I like the 2 ohm version because you can wire the voice coils in a series and get a 4 ohm load, most 2 channel amps bridge into a 4 ohm load well.
I have it in a sealed box at about .27 cubic feet internal volume, and it sounds great. More than enough output. Perform well in cold weather as well as warm. I've had it for about 6 months now.
The sub is very well made. It has a heavy duty cast basket, nice terminals, and looks great. It was a shame to cover it up with a grill.
I am very happy with this sub and have no desire to try a JL one.

Good speaker all you can expect from an eight inch. No matter how much power you put to it, it's not a 12 inch sub.

These Subs are Dual Voice coil 2 ohm subwoofers "Type R"
These out perform most 12s... You definitely want two of them...
They are a very nice quality, Very clean Bass Not clattery like a lot of 12s and they hit hard... make sure you have the right box and they are properly powered and you will love them...

This sub is not loud. It is an excellent choice for a sound quality build. This sub is the best sounding subwoofer that I have ever heard. Excellent quality. Simply beautiful.

Please read. As I attempted to post a review to the dual 4 ohm version, and Sonic Electronic apparently will not allow a review to go though unless it is 5 starts. All I will say about this sub is that you are warned. Quality is not the Alpine Type-R specialty any longer. Do not attempt to post a bad review when you have an issue either because they will filter it out.

I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for bass in small space. I've built a lot of systems from just 200watts to even things out to 5000watt monsters so I'm pretty jaded, it takes something special to impress me and I must say in a 0.8cf (0.4 per driver) enclosure with a port tuned to 38hertz with just 500watts these little 8" subs made my jaw drop, don't get me wrong your not going to bass box with a well built 12" set up, they're not going to reach down as low as 15's but set um up right and you won't be disappointed. Worth double what Sonic sell them for easy.
