surprising.

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-843D).

I purchased one of these for my gf after she heard my system. I was a bit greedy and threw it in my car before she got it so I can give a review. I built a .6 cube net internal enclosure tuned to 34 Hz. I had it hooked up to my bxi 1210 at 4 ohms, giving it around its rms rating.

The sub sounds incredibly clean. Probably as clean as my mag 12. It blends seamlessly with my comps, mainly due to it's extension into the higher frequencies. I was surprised at the range of notes it hit. It never struggled with stuff over 100 Hz, and remained composed down to about 30 hz. After that it rolled off quickly. In terms of spl, its not going to rattle anything loose, but it is certainly adequate for filling in the low end for a lower power install. I would not hesitate to push this past its rated power, IF DONE SO WITH CAUTION. It has taken 400+ watts at times and it has yet to bottom out.

Overall, its a very good sub for what it is meant to do. It's very clean, very punchy, and there's times where it blends so well I forget its there. Alpine has made themselves a very nice little sub here.

Awesome! Go hard!

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-843D).

I bought one, I repeat one of these to put in a custom .5 cubic foot box over the hump in my 2008 silverado crew cab and DANG! This thing sounds like a quality 12" sub. Buy it and stuff it in and be amazed. I'm pushing it with 400watts @ 2ohms and it's not bottoming out.

Alpine SWR843D Product Review

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-843D).

Good 8" sub for the price. Only shortcoming is that it does not reproduce low frequently as well as a larger diameter sub.

Nice

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-843D).

Nice little subs adds good bass to system got two hooked up to a crunch cr2000.1 at two ohms getting around 400watts each and they make my 350z rattle, but I also had 1 10" L5 hooked up to the same amp and sounds similar.

cant be beat

I was able to replace my factory blown sub in my 2002 Tahoe with this one. It fit right in the factory box behind trim panel. I added a JVC KS-AX3201D cause I didn't want to go crazy. And I couldn't be happier.

Does what it's supposed to

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-843D).

Just remember that you are buying an 8" subwoofer and you shoud not expect the performance level of a 10" or 12" sub from such a small beast, and you'll love the sound this thing creates. Doesn't go quite as low as I'd like it to, but is amazing for its size.

Wow

Im running this sub in a .7 cubic foot ported box in a single cab ford ranger. Just in the break in period at half volume, you can tell this thing is nasty! Im pushing it with a sound ordnance M1500, and its power hungry. For sure recommend this. Cant wait to crank it up!

Powerful little sub

I bought this sub ti fit into the factory sub in-closer of a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. It is a lot deeper then the factory speaker so you will need a spacer to make it fit.
I have a Polk Audio 5 channel amp with 400 watts of power going to it at 2 ohms. It could handle a lot more power. Don't be afraid to give it some juice.
I am very happy with this purchase. It is night and day from the factory sub hooked up to the same amp.
It is pretty good for Rock music.
I don't play a lot of Rap so I really cannot comment on that.
I do not thank you will be disappointed as long as you give it enough power.
I would definitely recommend it!

Not bad

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-843D).

The build quality on this sub is exceptional. It handles 375w rms no problem. That being said it lacks on lower frequencies even compared to other 8" subs. I installed this in a .3cf sealed box. Sounds decent, but would be much better ported. All-in-all a well built woofer for the money.

Cant go wrong with Alpine

Solid construction and fit perfectly in my tight space for under the back seat of my hummer. The price from Sonic is unbeatable. I only gave it 4 stars for durability because I have only had it a couple of months I can't really say its durable until I have had it for a while and I rarely drive the vehicle so it doesn't get pushed.

Great subwoofer!

I put this subwoofer in a small sealed fiberglass enclosure. The type r subs have great specs for their small size. The cutout diameter and mounting depth are smaller than most other 8" subs, but they still perform wonderfully. I am particularly impressed with the surround design. It allows for a lot of excursion. These can take a decent amount of power. I also have a kicker comp rt sub that i tried in the same enclosure. I prefer the alpine.

very good 8"

The following review is for a previous version (SWR-843D).

Build quality is excellent, this also is a very versatile woofer that works in a variety of enclosures whether it's sealed, ported or bandpass. Sounds great doing it which is why I would highly recommend these 8s for daily musical listening. Sonic was great on the delivery also.
