Good.

For the current price this is a good deck, touch screen is lacking but it is an older deck just don't buy it for the touchscreen or you will be disappointed. GPS works fantastic though and I would recommend it for just that alone. I have had this deck in for almost 6 months now and I haven't had any problems. I love how simple it looks while screen is down so it doesn't attract attention but when it flips up you definitely impress someone haha. Durability seems ok if you aren't rough on it. Bottom line I would recommend this to a friend for the price and gps. Touchscreen is crap and it is almost impossible to navigate through its setting and different screens but works good for me and what I do.

It was a great value for the features, but you get what you pay for

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

The Car Audio system--- Dual XDVDN8190 comes loaded with features right out of the box. Starting with the GPS-navigation portion of the unit, I would like to say I was very pleased with it. It allows for a 10 second start up time, and is fairly easy to use. The only downfall of the car-audio/car-stereo/gps-navigation head unit is that it does not play your song from the point of which it was playing during your car ride. In other words, when you are listening to a song, and its at 1 minute and 30 seconds, and then you turn your car off, it will restart the song from the beginning. Other than that, you cannot get any other car-audio/car-stereo/gps-navigation head unit/car-stereo on the market for anything cheaper than this. Granted, I bought it for 500 dollars back in '08, but even then It was the a great deal. Now, it is even a better deal, and I would recommend it to the beginner/intermediate car audio guru.

XDVDN8190

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

This is the perfect unit! I bought it recently from sonic electronix and the price is a lot lower than the other online dealers. Everything is perfect with this product(GPS, Bluetooth, Ipod control etc...) If you want a very good unit for your car, buy this one.

OK If Everything Worked!

Great value for the money if all features worked properly. For my unit, the Nav screen goes blank after about an hour of use in the vehicle, and it often loses screen and display settings memory from one start to the next. It is currently back to Dual for repair, and although 98% of the features including Bluetooth work great, these problems are a pain in the neck. I can only hope the unit performs perfectly when returned to me.

the value is not bad

I love this product but the only fault i found is that the touch screen reaction is really slow but other wise its not a bad buy if your not impatient. If you want fast reaction use the remote that comes with it. It works right away.

Not so good.

I would not recommend this player. The radio works ok, the cd player works ok, but the navigation - not so much. I used it once, and then the next time the screen displayed "Unable to locate nav file". Tried updating nav files. The sales process was good and good price, just poor quality product.

great multi use car stereo

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

overall a great unit, it does have a few quarks, like all gps when searching for a destination you have to spell it correctly, clearcreek park vs clear creek park. It is difficult to move the map display around to view areas not on the screen. once in a while my ipod needs reset after using the pause button on the head unit. apple or dual problem. I have no experience with dvd signal to monitors in the back seat or a backup camera. I wish it displayed radio station programing data and recieved hd radio. maybe next gen

Stay away

Nothing but trouble. It was a good price, but broke after 8 months. I had to remove and send it back for a refund and since I had lost the remote I lost a few bucks. I instead went with a quality head unit from a name I could trust (not dual).

Constant issues

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

Bought unit 8 months ago, problems began on the day installed. Engine whine that never went away, GPS that was constantly searching for satellite signal, iPod shuffle feature is not a shuffle it plays the same tracks every time even though my playlist is over 3000 songs. Does not charge newer apple products, you have to buy a separate adapter for that. Touch screen is very poor, even after constantly calibrating it. Radio stations on both AM and FM come in poorly. I would never recommend this product to anyone, even enemies. It finally died this past week. Save yourself the trouble and buy a quality unit.

Older GPS Maps and Updating

Okay product, but GPS didn't work out of the box. Required CD/SD card update on Windows XP only system. Unless you have a PC running XP and don't mind older map data, then this could work for you.

BAD DEAL

This dual radio navigation radio system is out dated you can not update without having a lot of trouble with the dvd softwear disk. All infomation is deleted from the SD memory card and it will not work. The Bluetooth does not work there is loud feedback and loud echo from it. the video screen will not come up when you first start the car there is black edges and it goes at a twist you can't see the screen and it is very dark. Not worth the trouble. I guess i will install it in a farm truck so the cows can watch it.

XDVDN8190

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

Great radio. Has great sound even when using the bluetooth. Only draw back is the brightness of the radio display, closed position, as it can not be dimmed. GPS maps are on an equal par as my Garmin maps, just easier to read. Have had the radio just over a month and logged over 3,000 miles using the GPS..Great unit. Easy to install.

Liked it...but

I got the unit, got it installed, everything worked. I read some of the other reviews along the way about mic not working well, and other past issues and none of those were the case in my purchase. It functions with my wife's iPhone 4s, and the bluetooth works for both her phone and mine, so I was happy with that.

However, I got the unit with a map disc that is atleast 5 years out of date. I found this out after my wife and I got into the car after installation and I tried to find the POI for the restaurant I work at about 10 minutes away. I found locations more than 20 miles away but not the one i work at.

bargain all in one

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

I bought this knowing it was entry level. The GPS takes time to get used to and it's not a Garmin. It can get frustrating at times. The Bluetooth is a great feature but the people calling could never hear me when I was driving so I bought an earpiece a few months later. The iPod feature is great. It works well.

I would recommend it only if you were looking to clear up your dash of GPS.

Dual Excellence....

The after market unit that I purchased has served me well, so much so that I immediately purchased one for my wifes car once I saw how well the unit performed. The value can't be mached by other brands. I highly recommed the product. Good job Sonics!!!

Excellent Value for the Money

Installed this unit a week ago and everything worked as advertised. I am especially fond of the I Pod interface which displays my music files and titles clearly on the screen. I had enough time to properly scour the owner's manual and so i spent some time getting everything properly configured. I wired the back up camera but did not connect it as yet. The DVD works fine and i made sure the unit has proper ventilation so i have not seen any quirks while watching a movie as yet. I read some reviews criticizing the current Nav version but i don't see the problem...the system uses tele atlas and so far it finds all the back streets even when i divert from the choosen route on purpose. The guide voice is a very pleasant female but i discovered another two voices that i could also use. If you close the display screen, you get excellent turn by turn directions as well. So far I am very happy with the unit.
I took my time to insulate all the loose wires (this unit has plenty for rear options) and i double checked all the connections before finally seating the unit. The remote is flawless and very easy to use. I thought the graphics were cheap looking when i first hook it up but i have been checking on more expensive units and i am happy with the DUAL.

Not a good unit.

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

I would not recommend this unit. I work at a stereo shop and a customer bought this unit from this site and had all kinds of problems out of it. Navigation would not work when hooked up. Took about 30 minutes of resetting the unit for it to finally come up. Bluetooth would not pair with the phone. the only thing that worked great on the unit was the backup camera...no flaws in it.

Great all around unit, and value.

The following review is for a previous version (XDVDN8190).

Great system, sounds as expected. The only drawbacks were the lack of Satellite support, and the 2 gig limitation on SD memory.
