This Thing Rocks

Okay, so EVERYONE needs one of these if you have a basic subwoofer. It allows for such a large amount of versatility to play around with how loud that signal is going into your amp on the fly adjustments. So COOL. Plus, super cheap from Sonic Electronix. Nothing but good things to say about this.

Universal Bass Remote

Remote works like a charm.

The quality is pretty good but not the best. I was going to mount it with double sided tape but the screws help keep the two halves of the case together and would mean less movement. I used a ziptie around the body and through the two screw holes because I can access the space behind its mounting point. The knob has a bit of a notch to catch it in the middle of its range. Unfortunately, it's a little right of center. Doesn't bother me any, but some people may not be able to handle it. The knob has a fair bit of resistance that is great for dialing in. It keeps you from just cranking it on accident if you hit a bump while adjusting.

Installation is easy but you will have to make a hole big enough to get the RCA connector and the 3 other wires next to it (not a big deal). Plug in the RCA's and that's it.

Turn up the sub output all the way or you will be attenuating the signal twice. I have heard no extra noise or diminished output when it is turned all the way up.

Great device

After hooking up the remote I was amazed at the control I had over the bass. Turned all the way down you had no bass at all. Turn the knob up slowly and the bass would start to come in. Depending on how your gain and cross over is set you can go from no bass to window rattling chest pounding bass. Pretty cool.

GREAT Product! Great Value!

This is a truly excellent product! I purchased and installed it after I realized that an EQ I was using was actually robbing my amplifier of power (I must admit, though, that I bought this EQ used on Ebay). I have this knob inline for my subwoofer amp.
This volume knob has a solid feel and is tight in the rotary turn. To me, this gives it more control so that you don't overshoot your desired level. The actual knob is metal, so there is substance to it's feel and doesn't seem cheaply made. The size is not too big and not too small, so it is easily installed in many locations. Finally, this module passes a clean and strong signal through to the amplifier.

Passes through full undistorted signal (tested using SMD DD-1)

Con:
Slightly loose female RCA connections (Can be easily fixed by pinching ground ring of male RCA's or taping the connections).

This Volume knob is inline between the sub output of a JVC touchscreen unit (at full undistorted volume) and my Sony XM-GS100 Mono amp.

I've had it installed in my 2013 WRX for a few months now and it works great. I mainly listen to music from my iPhone and I have 40 gigs of stuff anywhere from 1950s to modern music. Anything prior to the 90's has almost no bass, so I have to crank up the bass for that stuff and turn it down for the newer stuff. I got tired of going through menus on the stereo to do it. This allows for quick adjustments without taking your eyes off the road. Love it!!

Gain Controller

Works great for a amplifier that doesnt have a remote gain control. I place this under my passenger seat, under my mazda 3 that has bose, since the bose connections allowed me to tap into the wires to use the LOC, makes it very discrete and hidden well. Keep at max however. Its a good tool to turn the bass off if someone doesnt enjoy that type of music style. I broke it in half, so electrical tape makes the finish looks sleek.

definately worth a try

Hello every one, about a month or so ago, I purchased this schoche bass controller, and if was ,100 percent worth it. The installation was a snap, I pulled put my headunit, drilled a hole in the attached shelf below to run the wires through, then screwed it in. Depending on your audio set up, youll need a lengh of red and white audio cable(name slipped my mind), connect said audio cable to the output on the deck, then into the remote, then plug the signal cavle that were going to your amp, and your ready to rock! I use these to control two 12" rockford fosgste subs, and boy does it make a world of difference, from a subtle drum kick, to the booming bass in electronic music, it can help you tune your music, just right! Great Product

Just got this controller hooked up in my car and it exceeded my expectations. I thought i would have to settle for a little interference being how you hook up this controller through your RCA's but there was none whatsoever. Do know that this only adjusts the GAIN on the amplifier and NOT the bass boost. Also, this controller is not a complete override of the gain knob on your amp. Ex.: the controller will completely turn your head unit's RCA output off so your subs/speakers will be off, but if the gain knob is set to a low setting on your amp, the volume will stop rising after the controller gets to about half setting. So just crank the gain and the bass boost on your amp so your controller is most effective and has a full volume range from min to max. Oh and by the way, the picture of the controller makes it look a lot bigger than it actually is. Maybe not the smallest bass controller, but it's going to fit pretty much anywhere you want to put it. (even fits in the storage gap in my stereo's mounting kit) Overall, good design, very easy to install, and great value.

A great gain controller

This is a much nicer unit than I thought it would be. The knob is very fluid and has a nice "middle" notch in it. It is also pretty accurate. The unit is small enough to install just about anywhere.

I do wish that it came apart easier, so that you could install it behind panels.

For the price, I will order it again if needed for another system.

Im not really sure about durability because I have only had it a short while. SE should probably do away with the "Durability" block anyways.

I had a old 2 channel amp that ive been using for about a year now and after about a week or so I really wanted to control the amout of bass. Couldnt find a replacement bass knob so I looked into a product that could do the same thing and the RLC was great. Highly recommended for anyone who needs a in line rca bass remote.

Does the job

Not the nicest or the most accurate remote but if you can't find one specific to your amp, this one will definitely do the trick. Heads up though, the mounting screws that came with mine had a head way to large for the mounting holes so you may need to get your own screws. All in all I'm satisfied with it and would recommend to anyone that needs a universal bass remote.

efx rlc bass knovb

I love this universal bass knob. I have owned it for six months and have not had a problem with it. It completely shuts it off or turns it to full volume. Would reccomend this to anyone.

Great product for the price, the plastic casing feels cheap and the dial turns farther than the labels lowest setting but the functionality is great. It could have better mounting solutions.

So handy to be able to change the bass level easily instead of trying to peck through the decks menu for each song. I think this is a must if you listen to different types of music and have a sub in the backseat/trunk.

this is a standard bass knob but one thing i really like about it is that has a center point that it catches on so you know where the plus of minus 0 db is for a nice flat response. i would recommend this product

I recently installed this universal bass remote on my system. My amp came with a bass remote which only allowed you a 0 to 12 db bass increase. This worked fine until I snapped the phone connector off of the wire. I tried to attach a new connector to the wire but it never worked quite right. So I decided to go with this set up. The install was very easy, out to in, in to out. After I installed it I wanted to readjust the gain on my sub amp. I had the EFX turned all the way down so when I started to raise the gain on the sub amp, nothing would happen to the bass. I mean there was no bass at all. Turn the gain all the up and nothing, nada, zilch. With the old bass remote even when it was turned all the way down you would still get a fair amount of bass depending on the settings I had. At first I thought I broke something, then I turned the bass remote knob up and started to get bass. What I ended up doing was setting my gain at the mid point then just adjusted the bass level with the new bass remote. I have much more control of the bass than before. You can go from 0 db which would be no bass at all then with a turn of the knob you will get all the bass you can handle. Turn it to high and things start to rattle. That would be a no no. This thing gives you nice even precise bass control.

this bass knob was easy to install, as long as you have rca's behind your deck you can easily install this. truely plug and play install! im sure you could also tap into the rca's going to your amp. cheap alternative yet very strong and sturdy and works better than the hifonics bass knob i got with my amp. would definately recommend this to anyone!

Great for controlling subwoofer levels

I installed this in my girlfriend's car so she could easily adjust the bass without 'boosting' anything. It does exactly what it should without being flashy. My only complaint is the knob, it's a bit large. Some smaller knobs will fit, just find ones with the same size/shape mounting hole.

Does what it's supposed to do. Allows to adjust quickly for different genres (rock, hip hop, jazz, reggae) as some are or more bass heavy than others. Easier than adjusting off the head unit as I mounted it in a perfect location in my car for easy access.

This product acts as a good potentiometer if you desire this for your system. I though i would like to have this when ordering my system. I regret buying this because my sub is always set all the way up. If you are looking for a volume adjust for the sub this is the product for you. I wish i never would have got it.

bought this since my alpine amp didnt come with one and took the case off and just drilled a hole in the dash mounted it so the the knob is just showing worked great !

It's been 6 months since I purchased this item for my car system to control the bass from my drivers side with ease and it is a great item of choice I thought for real I was gonna buy a cheap item that was gonna break after a month but it is actually one of my best investments towards my car audio and it is still working great like the first day I bought it and it is easy to install no problem at all I would definitely recommend this item to anyone.

Perfect bass knob for any set up

Purchased for my 2007 Tundra. Kenwood DNX in-dash DVD, Nav, Sat. Radio. Head unit has these controls already, but having a knob to adjust on the fly between songs is WAY better than having to scroll through menu's to adjust the bass. Listening to music is actually more enjoyable since I dont suffer through the one or 2 songs with too much or not enough bass since I dont feel like messing with the settings on the head unit.
Works with ANY amplifier set up so long as your using low-level RCA inputs. I also removed the product from the slightly bulky case and was able to fit it inside the dash behind a blank factory cover.

This subwoofer level control has not failed me since i purchased it and does exactly what i needed it to do. I have an amp which did not come with the OEM level control when i bought it. This was an excellent replacement.

Not bad for the price

I purchased this to put into a system I was building. It's not bad for the money I paid for it. The only real complaint I have about it is it's size. It's not very small so it makes it difficult to conceal it, but I put it through the dash in my '06 F150.

The gain control could be a little more responsive. Between zero and half turn the column seems the same. Between half and full volumn sounds the same. As if it only has 2 settings instead of a gain.

Way better than LC1

I have 3 PAC LC1s and all of them caused distortion and had a constant noise. This EFX is way better. Not one bit of noise.

A great bass knob that is perfect if your amp doesn't come with one. I used it for almost 2 years with a 2 channel Hifonics amp and it worked great. Don't forget to order some short RCA's to run from your head unit, you don't want 15 ft of slack behind your dash!

I've used a lot of different knobs from all different brands and this is definitely a quality knob. It doesn't feel great because it is plastic other than the thumb wheel but it has what's most important...... linearity, it has a nearly perfect response through out its range and I've used much more expensive knobs that weren't nearly as linear. Great bang for your buck and in my opinion it's a must-have.

I ordered this for use with a Bluetooth dongle to be used with my Bluetooth compatible hearing aids. I needed to be able to adjust the TV volume from the dongle. This has worked wonderfully. I am able to adjust the TV volume to a comfortable level to my hearing aids and watch TV without having the volume being too loud for others in the room.

The Best RCA Remote

I'm glad I read all the reviews of the different rca line level remotes that ultimately lead me to buy this one. It's the best sub remote I've ever had. The dial is progressive and easy to dose, with a very solid feel and a midway notch that comes in very handy. As mentioned in other reviews, turning the dial has a nice resistance to it, exactly what you'd want.
I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to control the volume of an rca channel on the fly, whether it be your car's sub or a desktop computer speaker setup.
Can't beat the deal from Sonic either!
