Overrated
says it handles 600 watts but dont trust it. half power on my Hifonics HFi1000D and it over heated and died. i would recommend you spend a little more money for a better sub if you truly want 600 watts
**Note From Sonic: When overpowering woofers keep in mind to tune your system to compensate for the additional power. HFi1000D can push a true 700W+ at 2 Ohms which is a little more power than you want to constantly push into this sub, especially with high gains or bass boost.**

Excellent bass for reasonable budget
I have 2 of these in a sealed box with a 1500 watt RMS Hifi amp and they handle it fine even with the bass turned up. Have not had a single problem with this setup. Anyone who says these are not good subs is terribly mislead. obviously there are bigger and louder subs, but if you are on a budget, I highly recommend these subs, Hifonics is an industry leader in several aspects of good sound, and these prove it day after day of use.

amp too strong?
I bought one of these about two weeks ago and its just as loud as two Audiobahns I had before. But I think I need to get two more because my amp has the voice coils burning after a song. I have a Clarion dpx11500 class d mono block. I think the amp may be too strong?

i put these subs in about a year ago. they keep up with a lot of abuse i give them. they hit hard. they could be louder but definitely a lot of power. it massages my back in my truck. for the price you cant beat them.

pretty good
These are my second pair. I have them in my 2003 Chevy silverado extended cab in 2 down-firing subwoofer boxes. They sound decent in there considering small amount of airspace. In my 1995 suburban they were ridiculous with a hiphonics brutus2006 which toasted them but while it was working it pounded too much

Pretty Good Sub
Well, I have 1 of these hooked up to a Sony XM-ZZR3301, which is giving it 600w rms. To be honest, when I first hooked it up, I was a little disappointed because it was not getting as loud as I thought it would, but after a few weeks of breaking it in, it did seem to get a bit louder. So overall, I'm pretty pleased. This sub will hit a wide range of notes, I was surprised at some of the low notes it could hit. And if you turn up the volume, it will get loud. I would recommend this sub to anyone, although I would probably recommend getting 2 if you have the space/money, unfortunately I was on a tight budget.

preety good
Right now I have one sub on a weak amp that's only pushing around 300 watts and my cousin can hear me coming from 2 blocks away. So its a really good sub for the price. If u get a good amp and a pro box this sub will hit hard. To be honest if u can afford a square sub u should get it but if not, trust me if u hook this sub up the right way it can out bump alot of subs at the same price. I even wooped two kickers already with this one sub lol so just get the right stuff and go out beatin

these subs!
Don't under estimate these subs. They will blow your ears off. I promise. If you have the right amp. I have an 1800 watt Kenwood and my rearview mirror feel off. My neighbors didn't like me very much. But I would highly recommend these subs to anybody. Even if you have P3 l7"s or solo XS.

They Slam
when these came out my friends n i gathered money and i bought 6 12s, 4 10s, 4 15s, for the price, they couldnt be passed up. all my friends are running a pair of these subs with either the brz1200.1 or brz2400.1 brutus amps and they slam hard!! depending on the vehicle the sound difference will vary alot.
for example 2 12s on the 1200.1 will sound way louder in the a car trunk than in an SUV. but four 10s on a 2400.1 will sound way louder in an suv than 4 15s on a 2400.1 in a car trunk. i dont know why the big difference but i asked maxxsonics for the tuning on the amps so all the amps are tuned to run with the subs but even with the same setup, same subs. same amp. same box. same wiring. the sound will vary greatly.
my setup consist of 2 12s on a brz1200.1d in a ported box running off a premier deh-p8mp and memphis wire kit. maxxsonics recommened 4ohms subs be run at 1ohms to get the most out of them and remember these amps are cea-certified so im running 600 TRUE rms to the subs and they take a beating. still havent broken them in but have been raising the volume slowly from 15-20-25-and currently at 30 and have had them for about 45days and i know they have a ways to go to break in, u can just feel that its not at its max but once it is they will slam harder.

Dammmnnnn!
These subs are incredibly loud. So loud my wife can hear me come home from work more than 3 blocks before I get home. Best sub ever.

BRUTUS ALL DAY AND NIGHT !!
Do not hesitate. These subs will rock you! If you want the big boom! Put these babies in a shared 3.4 cubic box with a single slot port tuned at 38 hz in the center of them. I have them running about 1 ohm (box rise 1.1 - 1.2) powered by a second generation ORION 250 HCCA DIGITAL REFERENCE. I will quote my sons reaction when coming 3 blocks away "Dad, it sounds like an earthquake approaching" Now hows that for a review.

True power
I purchased these subs 4 months ago along with the matching 1200rms hifi amp and my expectations have been exceeded. Hifonics have come a long way and the fact there amps are CEA complaint is outstanding. These subs produce outstanding lows and was exacly what i was looking for. About the comment from the guy talking about not having true power, there were obviously other variables and tuning issues causing lack of power.

Great subwoofer!
I bought one about a year ago, have it in a sealed box, and it sounds GREAT. Gets VERY low, and gets pretty loud as well, I haven't gotten a chance quite yet to hook it up to an amp that will really show it's potential, however, with the amps I have hooked it up to, It's GREAT. I'd recommend to anybody that wants a cheap way to get some decently loud bass in their ride! So far, really haven't found any cons! Love it!

BRUTUS B12D4
These subs hit hard! i have a 5 cube box with these with a hifonics 1200.1 amp... my rear view mirror is about to fall off... Great buy for the money.

Very Versatile!!
I have this sub in a 2.6 Cu. feet ported box and it definitely causes a headache after a while of nice loud bass. Love its bass either inside the car or in open trunk.

great value
I am 14 and have this sub in my room, I only have 150 watts going to it but it still rattles my door and has made things fall off the walls. You can also see my window in my room flexing from out side. It also sounds great and hits the highs and the lows. If you are looking for a cheap subwoofer for you car or room this sub will be great for you. The only thing that worries me is the magnet cover, it seems really cheap and it seems like it is loose.

Wow in a good way
I've always been a kicker fan. I downgraded from a 15 in L7 because I wanted trunk space. So I bought this Brutus 12 inch sub and for $70 it's worth every penny. It sounds great and puts out a lot of bass. It has a good design and looks and feels durable. It's powered by my Rockford amp which is also a plus. Overall I give it 5 stars.

Great product
I do not really agree with another comment. This subwoofer works fine. If he is dead is that the settings were not appropriate ... It is six months that I used an amplifier class A / B HFI and it works very well. I recommend it for its value for money.

Can you say 152.6 db .
I brought four (4) B12D4's and put them in my 1994 Mazda B4000 truck with a blow through design on two (2) P1000.1's Massive Audio amps and these subs can take all of the power that I'm giving them. In other words DAMMMMNNNNN!!!!

Incredible
I got these subs recently and put them on a couple kenwood amps, and theyre underpowered with only around 500W RMS a piece, but they ROCK! Bass is great! Very LOUD! I highly reccomend these above many more expensive brands like Audiobahn, Kicker, JL, etc.

Great sub for a low price
So a friend of mine recommended these subs about 5 months ago, I was a little skeptical at first but I am more than satisfied with these. I bought two of them and had them runnind on a lanzar 2000watt 2 channel amp at 2 ohms and they slam. They produce nice clean bass. Great for starting systems.

big sound in a small package
I got a pair of these in a trade about a week ago and im very happy with them. I have them in a vented box and hooked to a sony explode 1000 and these things hit hard and not even getting enough power to push them hard. I have them in a jeep cherokee and have gotten 3 noise complaints. I cant wait until i get a bigger amp on them and see their full power.

The Best
Ive always been a big fan of Hifonics.. I have Hifoncis subs and amps. I love it when people pull up next to me with a good system and give me props on how deep and hard my Hifonics equipment sounds.. Then they also love the look :-)

Great after LPF filtered
I have just one of these in a 1.75 cu. ft. Ported custom box I made to their "Ported Optimal" specs.
I'm powering mine with an inexpensive Hitron HA-1000.1 amp wired @ 2 Ohms for a supposed 600 W RMS output.
In this box I absolutely LOVE the sound of Rap tracks, for example, by E-40.
One thing though... you definitely need to make sure you have the Low Pass Filter on your amp and headunit set properly. The other day I had a higher bass tone try to play thru this thing and made a really bad sound. Did not like it at all.
However, I fussed around with the LPF on the amp and set the headunit's LPF to 140Hz and it seems to have solved that issue.
Overall I'd say the sound QUALITY was better on the Pioneer Premier Shallow Mount this one is replacing. The Pioneer had a broader frequency range though. But the pioneer was only half the RMS though.
So for a slight trade-off on the higher bass frequencies I get a SUBSTANTIAL gain on the low-lows... everything else in my system being the same.
My Ford Explorer SportTrac is extremely limited on interior room for a sub box... but if you have a vehicle that can fit TWO of these...man... I don't know how crazy that must be.

HITS HARDER THEN HECK
Best beginners subwoofer I've ever bought working like a charm no problems what so ever and for 70 bucks u cant beat it! What ur going to get for that price best ever 5 stars across the board

good on a budget
I bought these subs with the intent of doing a budget system, will admit these exceeded any expectations I had. I have 2 paired up to a power acoustik bamf-2000/1d, wired @ 1ohm which produces what PA says is 1200rms (pa always over does it) so say they're running around 900rms, they sound great, crisp tones, can def feel the bass with the radio at 14, all my friends are amazed by the setup for such a short price, they'll out do any kicker cvr setup
My only complaint, the rubber on the sub isn't too thick, and its stitched on instead of glued, something with that much power should be designed a little better but for what I paid, I cant complain

BETTER THAN THE ALPINE TYPE R 12s
i have 2 of these on a crunch 1500.1... i know i know under powering them...but they r still getting broken in..about 5 more hours to go..then i can put my other 1500.1 on them....so 2 brutus 12s 2 crunch 1500.1s.. because i have the dual 2 ohm versions of these subs..
but anyways i have 2 of these in my 94 civic hatch..in a 3.56 cube foot box tuned to 34 hertz.. and prolly only about 250 to 300 rms to each sub..and its crazy...makes my windshield flex... its all in the box design..
i say they r better than the type r 12s..because they r a lot cheaper..u can buy 2 of these compared to 1 type r... and personally the brutus hit a lower cleaner bass note.. mine dont hit the really high bass notes because my box is tuned at 34 hertz..but the lows r stupid.. sound awesome on any music...i play rap..bass tracks...country..and some rock..and they never skip a beat..
my buddy has 2 type r 12s on a crunch 1500.1..i built his box also..and we both agree my subs get lower and louder...and these take a serious beating..i free aired mine..when brand new they did 3" excursion without bottoming out!!
in short buy these...they wont disappoint!!!!
thanks so much for reading my review

WOWW!!!!
I bought 2 of these 3 month ago, and hooked them to a rockford fosgate t2000.1 bd mono amp, and put them in a ported box... all I could say is Dammmmm!!! I knew hifonics made good amps, but i didn't know that their subs were just as good. these subs hit like some high powered 15s, and have amazing clarity. for a hundred bucks you cannot find a better sub.

Fantastic
These subs are worth every dollar and when wired and set up CORRECTLY, peform flawlessly. Very flexible and can hit a wide range of frequencies for different kinds of bass to your taste. As an installer for over 15 years I cannot stress enough how important it is to match your gains on your amps to the rated watts based on your head units pre-out voltage. MOST people fail to do this and then complain they sound like crap or they blew it.
