A LITTLE WEAK ON OVERALL POWER. 50W DOES NOT PRODUCE MUCH BASS. COLORFUL AND ACTIVE. IF YOUR WANTING CLEAR LOUDNESS, THIS UNIT IS JUST NOT POWERFUL AT ALL.

GREAT VALUE

This unit was a breeze to install, the dash kit and wiring harness was a perfect fit, for my 2004 Ford Ranger. Really looks nice, easy to use, I would recommend this if any one wants a double din unit.

I love this product, the only part that frustrates me is the Bluetooth. You must find your phone (in all the ones that's been connected before) for it to connect automatically. But overall I love it, just make sure you read the manual or you'll be pretty confused.

Experience level: I have been installing stereos in vehicles since the only choice you had was under-dash 8-Tracks and "wedge-mount" speakers.

Music Genre: Classic Rock, Jazz (the real stuff), Classical

Vehicle: 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended Cab

Stereo system:
-two generic 600-watt stereo amps
-pair Pioneer 6.75" round speakers (front)
-pair Pioneer 4"x6" speakers (rear)
-pair Pioneer 10" subwoofers
-downthrow under-rear seat 2x10" sub cabinet

Dash kit: Scosche GMT2049A (purchased elsewhere)

This stereo replaced an aging Jensen BM9212 single-DIN 7" touchscreen DVD player. There was nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't have bluetooth, and I do 99% of my listening from my phone, from my music library, Pandora, and IHeart Radio. I needed an upgrade.

I chose this stereo because 1) stereo sub RCA jacks (my amp is not bridgeable), 2) I really wanted a double-DIN stereo, and 3) I have wanted a Kenwood for years and decided that I would finally get one.

As far as installation, yes, you will have to remove part of the plastic bracket inside of the dash. And DO NOT purchase a Scoshe GMT 2049A to install a double-DIN stereo in a 2003-2007 GM pickup. Scoshe has other models that will work better. I basically used the parts from the kit to Jerry-rig my own installation parts. What should have been a 1-hour simple installation turned into a 3-hour frustrating PITA.

Just to note, the threaded holes in the side of the stereo are #8-32. I used six 1/2" screws with flat washers and lock washers in the installation.

I downloaded and installed the KENWOOD Smartphone Control app on my Galaxy 5S, but to be honest I don't think I needed it. I haven't uninstalled it to see, but planning to.

The DPX502BT and the phone quickly paired. As is my personal mandatory custom for any stereo equipment I purchase, Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" was the first music played on the stereo.

I was totally blown away by the sound quality of the DPX502BT. As I mentioned above, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the Jensen, which is actually a higher-end product, a modern replacement costs three times as much as the Kenwood. My wife walked out a few minutes later and immediately noticed the much "richer" sound.

Each time I left the vehicle and returned, the Galaxy and Kenwood immediately paired. All I had to do was press "play". Both the stereo and the remote are easy to understand and use if you have ever used an aftermarket stereo, and if you haven't, there isn't much of a learning curve.

I will admit that I have done very little experimentation with the stereo and my wife's Iphone 6S Plus, as I can't stand Iphones (or other Apple products for that matter). What time I did spend, I was forced to turn off the Bluetooth on the phone and turn it back on to re-pair the two after leaving the vehicle. I AM IN NO WAY SAYING THAT THE DPX502BT WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY PAIR WITH AN Iphone!!! I am merely saying that I spent little time trying. Other reviewers here claim they work together fine, and I'm sure they do.

I gave five stars under "durability, but of course having owned the product for a week I have no idea. It did not fall apart while I was installing it.

Bottom line, I am extremely pleased with the Kenwood DPX502BT.

Kenwood Quality

Sound quality is tops and the setup menus are laid out in a fairly logical manner. I've settled for another brand name in the past and always wanted to pull my hair out while trying to make minor audio tweeks. I will accept nothing less in the future. Kenworth for life.

I have a 1997 s10 truck. The stock radio is close to a double din size radio. Sonic told me,yes it fits right in.
And dont need a filler / trim
kit. Wrong! U will need a radio block off panel. An then cut the center portion out to fit the new radio. This will cover the sides of the new radio. The old radio is wider.also you will have to cut the rear of the dash
Out, if you don't want the new radio sticking out of the 1 1/2
Inches.
And no mounting hardware included. But the radio is great!

too much tech for this geezer

Had to replace the radio in my 2005 Honda Element. This is a fine Radio, but with all the features Bluetooth, display options, remote control. Im longing for my old radio with a nob for tuning and a nob for volume. I'll figure it out eventually.

Had this installed yesterday. Nice look to the component, especially at night with the multiple color options. Much more powerful and clear sound quality than the stock radio I replaced. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an upgrade.

Better than stock seems to have a few issues though like it loses date and time for no reason and the screen is very hard to see in the daytime also on my USB I have folders of music if you hold the shuffle it goes all random no problem but turn the car off and back on and it will only shuffle the folder the song was in when turned off

This Kenwood had all the features needed to rock out and look stylish while doing it. The deck is laid out well, powerful, easy to operate, and has all the features a person could want. Everything works super and passengers are impressed. Price was super!! Best experience was customer service! The sales clerk answered every question and added lots of insight and ideas. I recommend the deck and I highly recommend Sonic Electronix!

Awesome Radio

This radio is those that do not want a touch screen but has all the functionality of a touch screen. The only thing you cannot do with this radio is watch dvds or use a back up camera which I don't need. I have siriusxm radio, pandora, iheart, cd, aux, usb, am/fm even bluetooth with phone connectivity. I couldn't ask for a better radio. Just AWESOME!!!

Kenwood DPX502BT

I really enjoy this deck. It takes a bit to get use to it but once you figure out how to navigate the menu, it isn't difficult. The deck produces very good sound (music and hands free phone) and looks great in the dash.

Speaking of the dash, I did have to cut my dash and rear radio bracket to allow this to fit in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. It wasn't hard to do with a dremel, but just be aware that it is needed for a proper fit.

Pros:
-Great sounding hands-free phone calling.
-Good amount of power just using the deck.
-EQ. Or should I say multiple. Not only does it have a 13 band EQ, it has a ton of other options that I didn't need (Three settings of loudness, three settings of bass boost along with other settings).
-Three pre-amp outputs for those like me that want to add amps.

"Cons"
-Can be difficult to see the display during the day. Found out its the polarized sunglasses. W/O them, display reads fine. I have green as my color display.
-Miss having a super easy mute button like my old JVC.
-I have reset the clock twice since I've had it. First time it was 10 minutes off, today it was an hour.

Overall, I would recommend and buy again.

Kenwoods have always been the best and I will never buy any other brand. This is the second one I g=have purchased, the 1st I installed in a 2006 Mustang GT and what a big improvement. This second unit will be installed in a 2007 Chevy Colorado. This is simple to use and the sound is great compared to the factory junk.
Sonic is also one of the best places and prices, they bet anybosdy and include the necessary acessories.
