Good sub for some vehicles where depth is an issue

First off let me start by saying this is a great sounding sub. If you read no more of this review, just know that it is a great bang for the buck woofer. I have this mounted in a custom made box under the seat of my 2014 F150 super crew (down-firing). This is not a shallow mount sub, but it can still be used in similar applications where space is an issue. Yes, it's a tight fit, but the payoff is worth it. Too many shallow mount subs have low sensitivity specs and limited power handling, so their performance is limited, relatively speaking. I am powering this with the subchannel from a JL Audio RD900 (Great budget 5 channel amp, by the way...), so it's seeing about 500W RMS. The custom box has an Earthquake Slaps 10 " passive radiator. Wish they still made these - they're even tune-able. Good high-quality passives can give you similar performance, in output, to a ported box without the tuning frequency boomy-ness or port noise, plus the low-end roll-off is much more gradual. I haven't miked it, but it has usable output down to 20Hz in-car. This little 10 hits like a 12! If you're on the fence about this sub, don't be. I listen to everything from rock to country, to old school rap. This sub sounds great with everything. I have the bass knob for my amp, so I can turn it down, depending on the source material. It will actually overpower the mids and highs, at 75W x 4, at times! Great sub!

This 10 Inch Sub Beats

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

I have the single voice coil version of this. I have 2 of them hooked up to the Alpine MRP-M500 amp. The excursion from the sub is a lot more than I'd expect from 10s. The sound quality is fabulous as well. It does rattle my car, so I would recommend some Dynamat. I feel this sub is a good mix between sound quality and SPL. These require low RMS ratings for how hard they hit, so that will leave you some room for an affordable amp. These subs aren't in the pro range, but if you are the daily driver that likes some thump in you're music, you can't go wrong.

Very Nice.

The following review is for a previous version (TR5510-44).

I designed a box for the previous model which had the original logo. I ordered the 5500 10s and they sent these instead. At first I was so mad, because the box I planned to build was going to incorporate the old logo, which the new model didn't have. I built the box anyways, the way I designed, and made it to the recommended specs., .8 cubic foot per chamber, sealed. It sounds amazing. No one believes I have 10s in my car. I've been running them for almost 2 years now and am thinking about doing an enclosure upgrade and adding another amp. I recommend these subs.

Amazing subs for the money!!!

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

I purchased 3 of these subs and they are amazing. They punch hard for being 10's. I have them in a small enclosed box, i would not recommend them to be in a vented enclosure. They produce pretty good lows for being only 10's.

WOW!

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

I have one of these sub in my trunk. My friends always think that I have two 10s, or 12s. When I tell them it's just one 10 they cant believe it.

Very good for the money

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

These subs are far better than I expected. I have three of them in a 2.6 cubic foot sealed box and they are powered by a MTX thunder 5601 amp (and I don't have the boost settings very high either). They hit very hard for ten's and don't bottom out easily. The sound quality is amazing and they hits lows better than most of the ten's I've ever heard. The first day I had them in my mirror was knocked off of my windshield by the bass. If you are looking for hard hitting and good sounding subs for a great price then these are the ones for you.

sounds good, dont last

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

i had a few of these subs and i kept blowing them. they cant handle the rms power they say they can. they sound good for the week that they last. if you want something that sounds good and really lasts spend a little more money and get something else.

MTX 5510-44 Subwoofers

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

Awesome sub for the money, takes a beating and keeps pumping out the bass. These subs love vented enclosures and include a sample enclosure with cut sheets to make building your own box a snap.

5500 Thunder slams

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

This sub is definitly better then the 4500 series. This thing takes a beating and still keeps going. I plan to buy 2 more of these to replace my other 4500's.

MTX 5500 subs

The following review is for a previous version (T5510-44).

I ran 2 of these in my regular cab GMC truck behind the seat. I put them through a lot of beatings and never had a problem with them. They have great "punchy" bass for rock. If you want deep bass get 12's.
