Wonderful Amp, Design OK

The MTX TD75.4 is a worthwhile amp for starters who aren't looking to spend the big bucks to get Class A/B sound on their first build. That said, there are definitely better valued amps on the market from Kenwood and even the great Rockford Fosgate, for similar pricing, but in class D and other qualities.
I paired this up with a Pioneer DEH-X5500HD Deck unit and Alpine Type-R speakers in both the front (SPR-60) and rear (SPR-69) locations, rated at 100w RMS, 300w MAX. The MTX can drive them to near full nominal power, producing crisp highs and full-range mids, and because the frequency of the rear 6x9's goes down to 60Hz, it's possible to get decent bass response by adjusting the cutoff on the amp.

The only drawbacks I see are in the design of the connectors going into the amp; they could have been more compacted so as to improve their durability should you be mounting the amp in a trunk where you may carry other items. What would have helped is having ALL the inputs and speaker outputs on the same end, even if it meant cramming them into a tiny space. That or at least extending a small shroud over the speaker wire end, as currently they jut out about 2 inches in extra length past the amp, posing a snagging hazard if you carry other items in the trunk.
All in all, I still enjoy the MTX TD75.4 as my first amp, and think I'll keep it until I decide to go 5 channel's for a sub. Until then, it drives my Type-R's to full clarity, giving me bass response when I need it and quality when I want it.
