great head unit but.......

I own this head unit. I like some things about this unit but the second input is in the front and input one must be used for the iPod. I have a iPod and the pioneer XDV-P6 and unlike what you may read on some web sites it is not Compatible with this unit. This unit only has a ibus input and need the data video input to be Compatible. so I had to used a mini jack input on the front to use my i pod and my dvd changer!! so no clean install!! I also have the Pioneer GEX-P10HD and you will need a splitter to also use your msn direct!! The antenna must be connected for your msn to work but you also need that for you HD radio!! Also the msn needs to stay connected for some of its data and when you shut your car you shut off you msn direct so you must wait when you start you car to get that data!! The Garmin msn is better! More data better loading time and better options on the unit!! This is a great unit if your looking for just nav and ipod but if you want more get the upgrade!!

Pioneer Naav

A decent unit, but still quite a few bugs to be worked out. Pioneer has just released a software/map update that supposedly is going to fix a lot of the lingering issues, however, because it also contains a map update (which I don't need-my unit is less than five months old), Pioneer is forcing us to spend another $60 to get this update (which should have been free and available separately from the map update). Bad business on Pioneer's part. I won't buy from them again.

Tons Of Features

So this head unit was easier to install then I thought! Great features and sound quality. iPod function is amazing. Screen is clear and responsive once you get the hang of it. Navigation is easy and fun to play with. Bluetooth is a must and comes with it! The only thing I do not like is the display of the time. I'm always needing to look at the clock and its displayed so small on the screen....other than that great unit!

Great Product, did not experience the flaws of others

I was a bit guarded when I purchased this item, it's sold as Pioneer and Premier with a few minor differences. Yes it is at time a bit slow at responding to commands. Don't buy it for VR (Voice Recognition) as that aspect is over rated. It does work but not to the extend that one would expect or see on ads from Pioneer. Most units should now hat the 2.0 firmware upgrade, if you don't have this be sure to visit Pioneer and download it. I was disappointed with the MSN as it only works in the city you register the unit. Thus if you travel you won't get full use of this function. The signal is first rate and drives my speakers clearly. While it sounds great using the built in amp I used a Premier 4 channel class D amp to drive my front and rear separates. Sound quality is excellent. IPOD functions well but you'll need to use Itunes to have Album work displayed, other programs such as Media Monkey seem to have tagging problems and don't allow Album work to show on this unit. CDs and DVDs look excellent on the screen. Most back up cameras will also work well with this unit. I choose to have the BU camera come on when ever the car is in reverse. I don't like the shinny black finish and would prefer the non shinny look which comes on the non-DVD CD only unit. While you can use the same harness as a Pioneer D3 which this unit replaces you'll have to change a few of the wires. The GPS antenna is also different and that will need to be re-routed. HD radio works well when it works but don't get your hopes up if you want to change from Sat radio as HD does not work that well all the time, especially in fringe areas.

solid

I replaced a Valor in dash dvd/nav with this. What a difference. The boot time can be slightly annoying at times. It has features I have yet to use. The navigation product is pretty accurate and has a lot to offer.

Major disappointment

Great idea, but horrible execution. Miserable user interface. Tons of lag when using map features, HD radio add-on is disgracefully bad (both sensitivity and UI), annoying beeps that can't be turned off.. basically everyone who gets in my car makes fun of my radio after trying to use it for 2 minutes.

I've owned a number of Pioneer products in my life, and they were all great. Not this one.

Avoid.

Rocks!

I strongly recommend this head unit. I have it in a Lincoln Mark LT with components and it sounds great. More than that though, is the incredible flexibility, capability, and fantastic ipod interface. I even had to send the unit back in for a reinstall of the OS and still give it 5 thumbs up. Two years parts and Labor can't be beat!

TONS OF BANG FOR THE BUCK!

Just received this unit in the mail yesterday from Sonic Electronix. I got it installed last night in my 2007 Ford F-150. This unit is great on the features... Spent 2 hours playing with it last night. I did the move the pin around in the harness mod so the video/nav works while driving. Only things I don't like are 1) little slow on bootup (much better with the 2.0 upgrade) , 2) Not real crazy about the look of the unit from the front (especially on the left side) 3) All the rca's hanging out the back of the unit makes shoving it in the dash a little tight (could be a nightmare on some cars) Other than that unit works great! Cheap as heck too in my opinion ($650) If you looking for some flash with function for your dash, this is a definite buy!

Great product at a great price.

I have had my in dash navigation system for over 6 months now and I think it was the absolute best product I could have bought. The navigation works perfect and the built in I-pod controls are great. Very easy to set up and use. Installation is a bit more involved than your average cd player, but someone with reasonable electronics experience should have no trouble. I would not reccomend a first time car stereo installer try it on their own though. Great product for a great price and fast delivery from the company. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Really nice

The perfect setup for any really nice car. This is an amazing product from pioneer. It has everything! The only bad thing is the lag time when starting up, but not a big problem. Really cheap, comparatively.

Great Navigation

This is a very good navigation that has everything included like bluetooth, voice command,sd memory card. I love this navigation and Sonic did a really good job with the shipping of my product brand new, and well packaged. The only thing that sets this nav from being perfect is the lagg time when booting up, it does not bother me too much but it would be nice if it was faster. Other than that no complaints.

Excellent upgrade

After searching the internet and questioning audio shops this particular unit stood out as the best in class. Installtion took about 4 hours at a qualified shop, so I would not attempt to do it yourself. Besides slow start up this unit performs as advertised. The improvement in sound over an already high end unit was very noticeable. Learning curve is a little steep, but after a few days of "playing" around you catch on.

Great head unit.

Sound quality... great
Navigation...great
Bluetooth...great
Start up time..ok
Voice commands...terrible (total crapshoot)

All in all i would do it again. As for the voice commands, just pretend it doesn't accept voice commands and you will be very happy.

F90BT

Overall I have liked this head unit. Pros: Love the connectivity of screens, bluetooth, nav functions, and sound quaility. The bads are the installation is much more "tricky" than a standard deck installation and a few of the standard options with the nav can be annoying (engage parking break to access nav functions).... But my main complaint are that the system is relatively touchy, in that there are times that I have had to reset the unit (and lose all the settings) to ge tit to recognize the SD card reader (a great feature) and the bluetooth even after performing hte required system upgrades. I'd probably buy this again, but I really miss my old remote and I'm not to fond of the longer start up time for the system (my first nav unit)
