PRS-D4200F : A Rare GEM! - Superb implementation of the B&O ICEPOWER amp module

Purchased 2 of these D4200F a year ago to drive the JBL 660GTi & Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS component speakers. These amps meet and exceeded my expectations! Having already experienced the power and beauty of the ICEPOWER amps from High-End audio such as those from Jeff Rowland, I did not wanted to end up settling w/ some old-school (power hungry) Class-A or some inferior generic Class-D amps when searching for my ideal amps for my car audio setup. However, finding a good ICEPOWER implementation in car amp has proven to be a challenging task. At the end, the choice basically boils down to choosing between the PRS series from Pioneer and Eclipse series from Fujitsu. Eclipse models are not bad, however product support is now an issue and the PRS implementation is still slightly better (when unit is bridged). Also noted that even within the PRS range, not all the amp model utilizes ICEPOWER module. Hence careful scrutiny of the specs is required before choosing the right model. My prime focus is SQ not max SPL. I just love the wide bandwidth capability from the ICEPOWER, which is far superior to any average D-class amp. To see how good these D4200F sounds, I even tried driving a set of FOCAL Utopia Be No 6. with jaw-dropping results... The power output from ICEPOWER amps are typically deceptive... as from experience, even a moderate 200W from an ICEPOWER module have superb bass driving power. This is demonstrated during an audition on Jeff Rowland 201 and 501 model, driving the B&W 801D & JBL Project K2 - simply stunning! In addition, the superb KEF subs are also driven by ICEPOWER. Now, comes the time for me to choose an ICEPOWER amp for my twin 12" JBL subs, I have decided to go with another D4200F, having evaluated the various options between D2200T and D1200M(=90db sensitivity adequately. I highly recommend this amp for buyers interested in superb SQ.

This amp is great buy i had it for over a year now not one problem also you can really crank up your volume with it if you like loud music no matter what kind this amp with not disappoint you

Pionner Simply the best

Since I have had this, my Toyota Tacoma sounds really good. I don't have anything negative to said about it. ATTENTION: If you have the $$$, nothing else compares to this thing. Pioneer did it again. Pioneer is the best......
