Tough Cone

Just got this about 2 weeks ago and this subwoofer packs a punch. The cone has such a hard material that you could use it as a punching ball. hits the extremely deep bass very well in a sealed box. I would highly recommend this product considering its design as well.

Good Value

Compared to other Subs on the market, this one is not the best, biggest and/or baddest boy on the block by any stretch. It is however a good value, very efficient, attractive, and so far has held up and performed well for me. Basket is a little fat, had open my mounting hole up a bit, but it as real nice binding posts.

Currently it is installed in a box that is under 1 cubic foot and is attempting to fill the entire planet with bass only powered by a 400watt amp (I have a rag top TA). I am able to enjoy fairly balanced sounding music at highway speeds with the top down. If you are looking to attract attention with your bass, this is probably not a good pick for you. If you want a good sub for a good price to listen to music, this sub might be the one for you.

This sub replaced an Orion driver that only lasted a couple of seasons before destroying itself, so this one still needs to live a few more years to impress me completely (I gave it a 4 because it has lasted one season and is still going strong). Also, it does not seem to be as tight as the Orion it replaced, the bass is a little muddy. I own an older pair of Orion Extreme 10" subs that are in my daily driver. They absolutely blow this sub away, but they also cost me $200 each. I thought it might be the car, but I actually took the time to pop one of my Orion drivers in the TA box, and it was awesome so I'm pretty sure the Pioneer is just not as good. Makes me feel better about the $200 price tag on the Orion's. Funny, on paper they look pretty close except for power handling.

Hope this helps.

For the price of this sub it performs great. Good sound, hits hard. of course i do have a phoenix gold 900 watt amp pushing them but they are holding up good so far.

Great Sub, NOT Made in China!

I had heard that Pioneer made good products, and so I purchased this subwoofer. One of my main considerations, however, was that I buy one that was NOT made in China--and my particular one was not (I don't know about the country of origin as of today, so be sure to check before you buy if this is important to you). This speaker has exceptional frequency response, and it seems to sound good whether I limit the response or not--as either a sub-woofer or woofer, in other words. It seems to be constructed well, with adequate documentation.
