it's free i guess

I've used this kit twice now as sonic electronics sent it free with the CD players I've ordered. the first time the I used it, the face plate wouldn't stay on and the second, was absolutely useless. I couldn't even use it to hold my CD player in place. it's one thing to get it free but if you have to pay. I would defiantly spend the extra 10 or 20 dollars to get an installation dash kit that's not going to make you want to pull you hair out.

Installation kit

The trim ring did not fit my Ranger 2010. I had to whittle it down with a knife and it still doesn't look so hot. The side pieces fit exactly. Installation was pretty easy.

Came free with a pioneer stereo I bought, I can't get the outside trim peice on without it being in the way when I change cds, so I left it off.

mounting kit

This kit was easy to intall. I installed this on a 2004 ford ranger . My new radio was a double din jvc radio. Installing the radio was a little bit difficult. double din radio doesnt fit in this truck with out trimming the top and bottom all the way down. think the factory radio is like a din and a half.

Nice fit.

2003 F-250 Super Duty. Pieces attached to the Jensen VM9226BT and it slid into the dash perfectly....after trimming the top, sides and bottom of the stock dash radio opening....a Dremel tool and about 10 minutes careful cutting was all it took. Trim facia does not fit to the side mounting plates too tightly, so a couple dabs of RTV were needed to hold it secure.

Didn't Need it

This came free with the stereo but I ended up only using the U-bracket that fit on the stereo track rail. The other parts weren't used.

Nice Faceplate

Works as intended but required modification to fit my car. Clips on thin beauty plate breaks easily.

OK value

The adapter worked and even though it says it might take some adjusting and cutting. I had to practically cut the whole dash down to just fit the adapter. took allot of filing, but it works and is a tight fit.

Good install kit. Feels kinda cheap at first, but it does the job perfectly and lasts. Would definitely buy another.

Modified fit?

The right product for the stock ford double din radio, but had to modify the plate + dash to fit the Clarion double din radio installed. The opening in the trim plate was too small. Over all turned out well and I am happy with the results.

This product didn't really help me at all. I'm not sure if i didn't use it properly or what. But as it was free, it came with the headunit that i bought. Its ok.

Ok I guess

I was removing a 2 din stock radio & replacing with a 2 din CD player. I thought the new CD player would slide right in- wrong. I had to grind a lip as wide as the CD player & about 1/2" high off before it would fit. Then I couldn't get the cosmetic bezel to attach so it looks kind of bad. Generic part isn't going to fit every dash- in my case an F-250. Also the screws to attach the plastic side plates were too short. Not real happy but it won't fall out.

This Kit Doesn't Work- Poor Quality!!!!

This product does not work -at all- with the Pioneer 4300 head unit. Do not buy; it is of poor quality and construction.

Couldn't have done without it

Though the faceplate didn't work for my application, '03 F350 Super Duty, not enough room for the motorized face to operate, the side panels and rear slide mount were indispencable. To install the double din unit I had to trim the top & bottom of the dash opening, but there were gaps, approx 0.25 inches on either side. The panels filled the gaps & made for a very tigh fit. No modification were necessary to the panels as the holes lined up and the supplied hardware fit my doulbe din Alpine. Have to say, overall, very pleased.

this was an easy double DIN install, went in a 2000 ford explorer, the only thing is that i had to take a few mins and trim the top and bottom lip on the factory dash piece to allow the radio to fit (panasonic double DIN) just heated a razor knife up with a lighter and sliced right through

Not happy - ford explorer install

Lots of modifications required to fit a double din in my explorer. Not happy with the faceplate cover, not happy I had to mill down the lip for the head unit flush with the bracket. In the end it worked out, but it could have been better.

Not for newer Rangers

I also have a 2010 Ranger and the trim ring is useless. The sides have no room to snap in, looks like I'll have to cut the clips and glue it on. Instructions could be MUCH clearer on NOT filing down the side lips, only top and bottom since it holds onto the sides. I shaved the sides down, but left a little lip, thankfully. It's mounted, but it looks like crap without that ring. Not thrilled with what's supposed to be a straightforward install. I think the application of this product needs to be reviewed.

Not so great on 2002 Ford Ranger pick-up truck

Face ring does not fit but not really needed. Side plates don't seem to fit since the holes don't match up to the head unit. Doesn't come with needed screws. Directions say use screws from the head unit but those screws don't fit. Overall, got the unit in but not very happy due to the above. Don't know if it would be any different getting it from some place since it would most likely be exactly the same item. At least I got it mounted but with major cutting up of the dash section since the head unit with is ok but the height is to high for the dash opening.

Perfect Fit!

I had purchased a Double DIN touch screen stereo for my '99 Explorer and needed the FD1330B mounting kit to install it. The instructions were very straight forward and the installation was a breeze! Just make sure that you have the correct screws for the sides because the kit doesn't come with them. A little trimming of the dash and it looks professional!

Bolts right in to your double din unit like a charm and man let me tell you it holds strong. I drive a truck and I like to mob open trails around my house even jumping my truck my sony doesnt even wiggle to mention the vibrations coming form my fosgates dont phase it either. Get it you cant beat the price. Plus it hides out of sight completely.

Flimsy but functional

Getting my double-din deck into my Ford Ranger dash took some careful cutting and a fair bit of tight-fitting of deck into dash kit into dash. It is fragile plastic, so proceed with care.

Understandable how this is included for free with most purchases. Spending more than $1 on these cheap bits of plastic would seem wrong to me.

Fits like a glove

The dash kit I was uncertain about tackling myself so my local Best Buy did the installation using the supplied dash kit from Sonic. After it was done the installation tech said that we got lucky with the dash kit because it was the right one and it fit perfectly. Sonic got it right the first time. Thanks Sonic

This item I had to purchase so that my new car stereo would fit in correctly It did the job but came with a extra piece to this day I don't know were it was supposed to go and were I was supposed to put it but all said in done it did the job.

i bout this for a double din install on a 00 f350 i had to cut it up but it was cheap enough i didnt mind. but only thing is the shroud is a lil flimsy

Nice for free but limited usefulness

This was included with my Planet Audio PNV9680 purchase. The bezel did not fit my truck without seriously defacing the dash, so I used the included bezel from the stereo. I did use the lower mounting bracket and side mounts

The kit made my radio fit perfect in my 2001 ford crew cab . My Radio fits solid and I am very satisfied with the kit. You definitely need this for a proper install.

Nice Product

I used this install kit on my 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer and it worked perfectly. The unit fits very tight and looks stock in this vehicle.
