Good Value for a boat

Good Value for a boat, being in FL, the salt take a toll. So this is priced at the low end, and can be replaced with out much pain.

Easy install

Arrived as promised, brand new in sealed carton. Replaced my older
Sony radio with tape player. Fit perfect and used same old connections.
Sound is great, but found a blown speaker in the two speaker system.
Will order some new speakers. Sony I think ? So far so good. I would
reccomend this company to anyone searching.

Rare Gem - Sony CDXM20

LCD makers obviously haven't leaped that last hurdle -- making a display easily seen in bright daylight. Often we can't even see what we are taking a picture of in brilliant sunshine. We snap away at the ladies on the beach with our fancy smartphones trusting to dumb luck.

Problem is -- those same unthinking smartphone designers are putting the same displays in car stereos, and here we have glare coming not just from one direction, but from every reflective surface inside the car and out. Ever glance to see what station you're on, and find yourself doing the Egyptian neck-stretching dance to find a clear shot at the radio display? And even when you find it, it's a bunch of swirly mush with the salient numbers hidden in there somewhere?

You thought that display looked SO KEWL at the stereo dealer, and the dealer knew that. Betcha Seal teams don't have equipment with silly displays like that. Life-and-death means being able to SEE what you're doing.

Let's go. Let's step up to the Sony CDXM20. Totally unfussy. Black design fits anywhere. Latest electronics for tuning, CD playing, music reproduction, etc. Fits easily into a standard DIN mount. Even comes with a nifty remote control! And the best part -- a simple, black-on-white, backlit, big blocky LCD display. The type that only gets clearer when the ambient light becomes brighter.

Go ahead, race down the Interstate playing with the radio remote. A quick glance at this display tells you immediately what station you've hit, what time it is, or what mp3 is playing -- all without straining and confusion. You may have just made your driving 100% safer.

It says it's a "marine" radio. Ignore that. Misguided marketing. It's a radio for those of us who just like to see what's going on. For $109.99 it is absolutely a no-brainer.

Pleased so far.

I've installed this radio in my boat. I needed good reception in a weak signal area. The radio sounds great in my garage. The water is still too hard to test it in the Michigan UP where I will use it. I did find that a whip antennae works much better than a 4 foot VHF antennae. Too new to evaluate durability

Excellent choice!!

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

Bought this stereo for my 21 Ft. boat and the sound was way better than expected! This thing really puts out the power with nice, clean bass. A lot of bang for the buck! I would definitely recommend it, especially since it is so much cheaper than the high end models.

GREAT PRODUCT, FANTASTIC COMPANY TO PURCHASE FROM

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

Second unit. 1st lasted 1yr 1 month. Sony showed no care to assist me. Bass pro would not bend its rules nor discount a little to satisfy me. I feel like I the unit was great and liked the way it operated, but just had bad luck. So I purchased it on line for a great price and have enjoyed it with no regrets. Simple to use.

Great value

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

I was very pleased with the installation process. I had to cut an opening in the dash of my boat and the template was a life saver. I love the way it looks and sounds.

Bad Value

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

This CD player was a waste of money for my boat. Can't listen to a CD as they skip badly!

Great Radio

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

I purchased this marine radio to install it into my Harley motorcycle. It looks better than the original radio installed. It has more features and provides a nicer look also. I really like the marine grade construction, due to being in a motorcycle in a florida environment.

Perfect replacement

Very quick to ship the radio. A perfect replacement for my older boat radio that is no longer made but one thing Sony does well is that all their new equipment will use the same plug in for all equipment. My remote in the boat even worked with the new radio. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Worth the Price

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

I purchased this stereo for my Pontoon boat this spring. Radio works well, and I love the Aux Jack, in fact that's why I bought it. It works perfectly for plugging in my MP3 Player (Any Model) not just iCrap...and yes you can plug that in too. I would recommend this product, however if your like me and your boat isn't always covered, purchase the protective cover or the contacts will corrode.

Intalls and works great

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

PROS: Fairly easy to install (we needed to fabricate a special mount for my particular Reinell boat that did not have a radio slot). The inverted LCD display is easy to see.

CONS: Wish it had an adjustable color display and faceplate. Some menu selections take time to understand and set properly the first times you use it.

Great Price

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

This is a great unit and I have not had any trouble with it. It is a good value for the product. We use the unit mostly when the boat is anchored. The ipod input on the front is a great feature. The radio picks up well and CD player does not skip.

Works well on my Harley-Davidson Electra Glide

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

Installed on my Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. The lights are a tiny bit bright at night, but not unbearable. Sound is great, controls easy to use, very many settings that can be customized. Also, easy to view with polarized sunglasses (not all LCD's are).

I rated durability as average because the website requires a value and I haven't had it in long enough to comment.

Good Buy

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

I purchased this for my '85 Jeep CJ I had been going through a cheap head unit every 6 months. One of the features that I found hard to find was a unit with a clock which this one has. It has worked great!!

Sony CDX-M10

The following review is for a previous version (CDX-M10).

I bought this stereo and installed it in the fairing of my motorcycle. The first thing I found was that the instruction book was poorly written and it took me a while to figure out how to turn off the "Demo" function, which scrolls all the features of the unit across the display continuously. I assume this is a feature dealers use when displaying the unit in stores. The next thing I found was that the CD player skips like a madman whenever the bike is being ridden. With "eight times oversampling" I would have thought this would not have been a problem. Wrong. I use the FM and I plug my IPod into it and play from there, but the CD player was a bust for my application.
