Blu-ray discs offer video in "Full HD" at a 1080p resolution for exceptionally vivid, lifelike images. They also allow for higher quality surround sound to be encoded on the discs, as well as much more information due to the data storage capacity on a Blu-ray disc being much larger than a standard DVD. A dual layer Blu-ray disc can fit 50GB of data compared to 4.7GB for a regular DVD!
WiFi Capable
This feature allows devices to download new software updates, stream video content through various services, or connect with BD-Live features wirelessly when connected with a compatible wireless link.
Instant Streaming Content
Some devices can connect to the internet for instant streaming content. This feature allows you to receive instant access to different media sources such as Netflix, YouTube, Blockbuster On Demand and more when connected to the network. HDMI Up-Conversion
HDMI Up-Conversion technology improves the image quality of regular DVDs, allowing them to play up to 1080p resolution.
Disc Playback Media
These are the types of discs that the unit is compatible with. It is the type of compatible media choices available, such as the type of disc you would record a homemade DVD or CD on.
24p Playback
This means that the device will allow the media to play at it's original recorded framerate. It is a feature that allows the video image to be transferred as it was originally recorded, at 24 frames per second. This feature ensures that you will be watching “movie theater” quality without any “judder” that would occur with some 3:2 pulldown.
Supported Sound Processing
This is the type of audio processing that the receiver is capable of.
iPod Dockable
This designates if an iPod can be docked the particular device. This feature applies it to home DVD/Blu-ay players, iPod accessories, alarm clocks, and more. When an iPod is docked, it will charge the iPod. Some devices will support the playback of video off of a docked compatible iPod. Some players include a dock or have one built-in, while others require you to purchase it separately.
OSD (On Screen Display)
Indicates that the unit has menus and features that display on the screen. Typically, on-screen menus allow users to adjust audio and video settings easier.
THX Certified
