Canister Vacuum: These are vaccuums that have the motor and bag (or bagless canister) mounted on wheels and attached to the vacuum head with a long flexible hose.
Hand-Held Vacuum: Small, battery-operated vacuums that are compact enough to use with one hand are considered hand-held vacuums. They are great for cleaning up small spills.

Stick Vacuum: These are a small, bare-bones version of the larger upright vacuums. They are thin and lightweight. While they do not have the sucking power of the larger upright vacuums, they are more versatile. They are a great choice for smaller homes, apartments, or as a secondary vacuum to a larger upright.
Upright Vacuum: The most common vacuum on the market today. It is comprised of a cleaning head with a motor attached to a handle with a bag. They offer the most options of size, power, color, and manufacturer. Most upright vacuums include attachments that allow the use to use the vacuum to clean just about anything.
Wet and Dry Vacuum: More commonly known as a "ShopVac". These vacuums are designed to clean up anything, even if it is wet. They are great for workshops, offices, and other places that need heavy duty vacuuming.

Motor Wattage
The is the wattage rating for the appliance motor. The greater the wattage, the greater the appliance's power.
Amp Rating
This is the appliances amp rating.
Vacuum Design
This specifies whether the vacuum was designed to have removable bags installed inside to collect the dust, or whether it uses a bagless design.
Bare Floor Cleaning
This means that the vacuum or other appliance is designed and capable of cleaning bare floors.
