600W 13.5" TW5v2 (Thin-Line) Series Single 4-ohm Subwoofer
• Requires Only 0.8 Cubic Feet of Airspace
• Excellent linear excursion capability (xmax)
• Patented "floating cone attach method" technology
• Patented "concentric tube" architecture
At an extraordinary 2.625-inches tall, the unique JL Audio TW5v2 "thin-line" subwoofer driver provides the most sound, out of the an ultra-compact chassis, than any other driver attempting to mimic its design. The driver achieves this extreme level of shallow-depth by compressing the architecture of the 13TW5v2 using a “concentric tube” structure that supports the oversized voice coil and the suspension attachments. This permits placing the large motor structure much further forward in the speaker than with conventional designs, while maintaining excellent linear excursion capability and mechanical stability. In addition, the DMA-optimized motor system produces a consistent motor force over a long range of strokes and power levels. U.S. Patented Floating Cone Attach Method (FCAM) aligns the cone and surround without depending on the spider and coil assembly, resulting in an improved pistonic motion. And, in keeping with its "tight-spaces" mission, the 13TW5v2 is optimized for enclosures that are far smaller than most 12-inch woofers require and only a bit larger than the air space needs of a typical small-box 10-inch woofer. JL Audio even designed the mounting system to allow it to fit in the same footprint as a standard 12-inch woofer.
Although the TW5v2 Subwoofer can be driven with as little as 250 Watts, for best audio performance it is recommended to run an amplifier capable of between 400 - 600 Watts of continuous power per driver, like the JL Audio XD600/1v2 or JL Audio 600/1v3. In addition, these subwoofers are optimized to operate in sealed enclosures only, needing only 0.80 cubic feet of air space in a sealed box. (Specific dimensions and figures can be found in the user manual, linked further below.)
Like so many other industry leading JL Audio products, all TW5v2 subwoofers are built in JL Audio's Miramar, Florida factory with extreme prejudice to craftsmanship and overall build quality. Its this attention to detail that delivers the JL Audio quality and performance we have all become accustomed to.
JL Audio's patented solution to overcome the lack of mechanical clearance, presented by "low profile subwoofers", employs a molded structure which spans over the edge of the motor system, supporting the spider on the outside of the motor's boundaries and the large diameter voice coil on the inside. The large diameter voice coil permits the magnet to sit inside it, rather than surrounding the coil as is typical in most woofers. The concentric tube structure and the elimination of a conventional top-plate helps place the motor system higher up into the cone body's space to further compress depth, while still permitting excellent mechanical excursion.
DMA is JL Audio’s proprietary Dynamic Motor Analysis system and is aimed at improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, TW5v2 motors remain linear in motor force over an extreme range of excursion and also maintain a highly stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. This leads to vastly reduced distortion and faithfully reproduced transients... or put simply: tight, clean, articulate bass. Its main catalyst is the driver's Ultra-long Voice Coil, that allows extreme linear excursion, phenomenal power handling and control, control, control.

Great sub
Classic JL Audio subwoofer. Does what it is designed to do. I'm only running 1 in my vehicle and although it would be nice to have 2, I don't need two.

I got 1 of these on a Slash 1000/1 running at 4ohms which is why I wanted the Slash for its regulated power supply. According to the power rating for this sub I am overpowering it (I'm definitely voiding my warranty) but I can tell you undoubtedly the 7" VC can handle it. I'm at 3/4 of the IS and I have not clipped once and after a little bit of tuning it is up there w/ some of the best single sub setups I've ever heard. I read a lot of reviews saying it has trouble with lower notes but I think people were tuning it like a normal sub. I set my low pass medium lower and tuned out the junk and I can tell the difference big time. I think most people are missing the low frequency on their subsonic and just think think it's not capable. Once I got my amp set I can't tell you how happy I've been w/ the sound and the quality of my equipment. I have always been a JL but for good reason. No other sub IMO is more complete w/ such a robust sound. I'm not just amazed with the capability of this sub but the fact it was designed and engineered completely from the ground up and it still has that distinct JL sound up and down. It's quite amazing a sub less than 3" deep could even compare to a W6 but it does. The cost was high but if you want the best you have to pay for it and you'll be glad you did. I don't recommend putting a 1000w to it but at least you know it can take it.

Got two of these subs because i needed more room and the 13w7 was taking up to much. I love the big sound and the small size.. not like the w7 but still a good clean sound.
