Smooth, even, quality sound without the high price!
I installed a set of these in the doors of my 99 F250 Super-duty diesel truck matched up with the Pioneer DEHX8600BH for power.
No amp, just head unit power so far, and I cant see a reason to add an amplifier for these.
I should mention that these are loud trucks, the motor is loud, the turbo whistles and the exhaust is loud. I wanted a door speaker that could keep up and was still under $100.
I was skeptical about these due to the smallish looking driver but they actually looked like they had a decent looking x-over and I figured I would take the gamble and I am glad that I did.
The soft dome tweeter is crossed over perfectly, these speakers have a great presence with a natural sound without the tweeter sounding harsh or overly bright. You can hear the highs without the brash, bright sound that you typically get with a hard dome tweeters on a cheaply made speaker. These sound more like a quality in-wall for your living room or a vintage A.D.S plate speaker.
Hard dome tweeters are fine for a horn loaded system or maybe a stage speaker, but in an up close environment like a car you really want a soft dome with a good x-over, and these deliver.
The low end is about what you would expect from a driver of this size, not bloated and these are voiced with a natural sound. For county music these nail it, not bass heavy to alter the sound but enough presence to compliment a sub without a huge hole in the sound range.
I don't think I will need a mid-bass driver in the rear doors to match these Kenwood speakers up with a 8"-10" sub. I will just get another set of these.
I do have a set of the Pioneer TS-D6802R 6x8 in my wife's Milan and these Kenwoods just out perform them at every turn, no comparison in sound quality. The Pioneers sound harsh and bright while these have a distinct audiophile sound without the high cost one would typically pay for sound like this.
For the extra $5 these speakers from Kenwood are a no brainer!
I would really suggest that you try a set of these if you have a Ford with that goofy 5x7/ 6x8 opening, I think this may be the best speaker option for a Ford car without modifying the opening.
Some assembly required, you will need to mount the plate in the opening first and then mount the woofer to the plate. Everything fit as it should and Kenwood even includes wires with spade lug connectors for easy installation.
Get em, you wont be sorry!

Kenwood KFC-P680C Review
I have had different brands of speakers ranging from pioneer to alpine. I have had Kenwoods before and I remember the quality sounds they provide. I decided to go with the speakers because I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. I also purchased the dynamat 2 speaker installation kit and let me tell you these really have got the mid bass and highs I was looking for! I am powering this with a 200.4 Kicker Amp that gives about 40 watts for channel at 4 ohms.

Best sound for the money
Bought these for doors of my 08 f150. Using the factory 6 disk/MP3 head unit. So much of an improvement in sound quality. Its amazing. Hooked to a matched amp they sound even better. The bass is nice but don't expectthem to hit the lows well. Its only a 6 inch cone, size does matter.

kenwood speakers
Great speakers for the front doors on my 2000 Ranger. No complaints. Highs are crisp and there's enough bass to require some padding to be added to all the parts that have rattled loose as a result of it.

took a few weeks for brake-in. Then they became louder and had more range. I liked the fact of separate speakers like components!

Amazing Sound
These things sound AMAZING, I heard them at a local car audio shop because Im in the market for some 6x8, Im a fan of the infinity's but I really like the way these have the mid drive and tweet all in one with out having to cut a hole in your door panel. They have a very clear and sharp sound and a great mid bass. Well worth the money

Bought these as an upgrade to the stock speakers in a 2006 F150. The difference is astounding! My factory radio really does put out highs! The bass was a little improved, but not much. No matter, I plan to install an under-the-back-seat 10" sub soon for the lows. Overall, I am very pleased.
